As signs of reconciliation between SM Entertainment (SM) and Mnet are appearing, speculations are arising as to whether JYJ, who have only recently begun promoting, will have less space to advance with their activities.
It was the first time in nine months when a song from a SM artist showed up on Mnet.com when U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin, from the newly revamped two-membered TVXQ, released their new song “Why” on the 3rd (of January). SM and MNet have been locked in a rocky* feud with one another in the past, eventually leading to a two year absence of SM artists from performing at MAMA, which Mnet hosts.
It is because of this reason that the newly released single from TVXQ is seen as steppingstone to reconciliation between the two parties, further raising speculations as to whether Girls Generation, SHINee, Super Junior and other SM artists will make future appearances on Mnet Countdown.
These recent developments between SM and Mnet are raising the possibilities of complicating JYJ’s future activities. Regardless of SM’s intentions in their actions, it is possible that their reconciliation with Mnet can make JYJ the victims*. It’s curious to see which decision Mnet, a giant in cable music programs, will make.
As of now, JYJ are not allowed to be on public music programs due to their situation with SM. The only exception to this so far has been their performance at the KBS Drama Awards where they sang a song from the Sungkyunkwan Scandal OST, in which Park Yoochun acted in.
An interested person from a music agency explained: “From SM’s stance, they are in a position where they can kill two birds with one stone. Releasing TVXQ’s song in Mnet Media can broaden the activities of their artists while simultaneously limiting a portion of JYJ’s activities.”

It’s a given that it would be unfavorable for JYJ. And it IS a good business move on SME’s part, whether we like it or not.
All I care about is that JYJ win the lawsuit. It might not make a difference in terms of them being banned by broadcasting companies, but at least we’d have peace of mind and JYJ can prove to every detractor that it wasn’t about the cosmetics company or greed, but that their contracts were really unfair.
This!
siiigh
this was what i was secretly hoping wouldnt happen
Mnet owned by >>> cj media >>> owned by samsung right?
oops not owned by samsung!
SIGH THIS IS SO ANNOYING
haiz…great more complications for our jyj opppa TT please be strong! to them and to us FANS! bah who need mnet, kbs, mbc, sbs when we have INTERNET ^^
Dont worry JYJ!! JYJ fans always fight w U, as long as u dont give up!
Thank you Jungu and mia admind!
well tht sucks. But its good business for SM-Ent their finally got their head around, and realised hw this well help them. This just sucks of JYJ<3 though.
But right now all i care and all i hope is they win that lawsuit. Thats all i want. I don't care about them appearing on shows (actually i care but winning the lawsuit is the number 1 priority here!)
feel like crying…….
BUT IT’S OK. JYJ ARE STRONG, AND SO ARE JYJ FANS. WE HAVE INTERNET BROADCAST EXCLUSIVELY FOR JYJ ANYWAY, WHO NEEDS ALL THOSE CRAPPY COMPANIES.
ALL I WANT NOW IS FOR JYJ TO WIN THE LAWSUIT FIRST. YES PLEASE. GOD LET JYJ WIN THE LAW SUIT PLEASE.
I don’t care anything for now.
All I hope is that JYJ win the lawsuit.
And JYJ happiness is the most important.
Well (I’m not totally sure but) I don’t think JYJ has been on Mnet anyway so I don’t see how it can get any worse for them. All I really care is that they win the lawsuit. For them and for the sheer justice of the fact. I mean if sm and mnet reconciliate then good for them, if not, I highly doubt I’ll be shedding any tears over it.
BTW I can’t read chinese but you guys should vote for JYJ here: http://img.1ting.com/Node/KMusic/ we’re behind Super Junior again and I’m not sure when the polling ends but vote as many times as you can, refresh (F5) the page and do it again. LOL~ kinda my game strategy.
This is old news…people in Korea are over it already. Anyways, with 4 new terrestrial channels coming in at the latter half of this year, Mnet and the other channels won’t be nearly as important as it is now. Because the majority of these channels are run by news agencies or newspapers they won’t give a damn about SM and it’ll be in chaebols’ interests to ditch SM at this point. Can’t wait! ^^
And then there’s the Internet TV station solely for JYJ being set up by JYJ fans. It’s being led by an ahjumma fan with a rich lawyer husband as well as a noona graduate of Harvard. I’m confident they’ll come up with a sustainable business model with plenty of sponsorship ^^.
WOW !!!!!!!!!! as always thanks Jimmie for the news 🙂 🙂
JYJ jans are awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now that I know we have a powerful ahjumma leader and another powerful noona i feel less worried 🙂
you know i’ve always been worried about the sustainability of the internet station. coz it requires a lot of man power, as well as financial resources to sustain such a station. I feel relieved that we have resources 🙂 🙂
So that’s why there was a mention of a Harvard diploma in one of the articles that were translated about the broadcasting station, LOL.
I really hope the Internet TV station would be sustainable because while it would really help JYJ in terms of promotions and it really brings a lot of optimism into this fandom.
Jimmie . . I love youuu . . *grup hugs JYJers* <3<3
jimmie, may I ask? with 4 terrestial channels, it means that JYJ will have opportunity to appear on tv right?
Yes!^^ Also, I know for a fact that two of the new stations (YTN and mk) are friendly toward JYJ. YTN will continue broadcasting only news but will add an interview/talk show lineup of programming and mk will venture into all-out drama and variety show programming. Even if the three main stations refuse to give Yoochun a role in a drama, he can always go to mk…they’ll be more than happy to accept him, since where he goes at least one big chaebol (Lotte Duty Free anyone?) will pump advertisement money into the project. ^^
thanks jimmie . . hope u’ll still update here often. I’m so nervous. it’s the day after tomorrow. JYJ’s lawsuit. let’s pray hard JYJers!!
ps. if u have twitter, I advice u to follow @mickeyyuchun. we’ll fight the rumour spreaded by HM fans. there are so much bad deed that antis will do. it’s so scared that we have to fight them back as much as we can. JYJers HWAITIING!!
do you think there is any chance that JYJ can sign with a company like SONY in japan once the 1 yr contract is up?
or will they be “untouchable” (in a bad way)
Watch how the two magazines with them inside sell. That will be a big indicator. If they prove to still be popular in Japan, a minor thing like a ex’s tantrum won’t make a difference. The companies exist to make money after all.
The question will be will they accept the kind of contract that JYJ will want. I think they will have better luck getting that with the international companies. (Sony, Universal)
Agreed
i think they might sign for universal, because they already signed one agreement with them
but for japan i hope its SONY
Im not sure if they can sign with Sony, or Universal, etc. Because they’re already with Warner Music. Warner Music extends worldwide, & I think that also includes Japan. They cant sign with another record label — if they’re already apart of one.
thank you so much Jimmie! I so worrries! but now aleast still have a way for jyj walk! now just hold fingers wish for lawsuit!!
Thank you!! This is great news! I was always afraid that the Internet TV station may not be sustainable if it was maintained by relatively younger fans with not much financial resources/experience. Now I know its by ahjummas and omgoodness I’m even more thankful for SKKS that helped them attract so much auntie fans 😀 Fighting!! 😀
& well, on a side note, SME is finally being smarter in their business decisions, hope they continue to do so and not “use” Homin to worsen Cassies relationships already. :]
jimmie unnie ^^ i love u~~~~ thanks for always bringing us good news =) please take care of yourself and your family~hope u guys are in the pink of health ^^
Thank Jimmie for the information.
After read this news, I feel like JYJ are alone to fight against Mafia world in Korea. But thank god they still have Cass and ahjumma fan. ^^ So good.So thankfully.
I also hope that JYJ can have a contract with Johnny ENT or Sony in Japan after Avex.
But Sony is better, they ‘re world-wide company . At least , they can help them in the US.
But firstly , we need to resolve the Avex problem ^^ .
i think its impossible for jyj to join johnny entertainment if ever jyj will join another music company its probably warner music japan isn’t it they are signed under warner music in the usa?
btw is it true that jyj contract with avex is only one year?
But, I heard JE is almost the same as avex, I heard that Takuya Kimura once tried to sue the company…
im also think JE is not good place for jyj..
with bunch of idol group there..owh its look same with sm lol..
about AVEX contract..not sure about it..so if it only for 1 year, probably will expired around oct??
@tezzone what i heard is JE is the SM of japan. or rather, SM is the JE of korea.
JE would not be the best place for JYJ if they seriously want to be recognized as artists. JE are idols and while some of them actually do excel in acting and performing, the idol title always haunts them.
@enigma Actually, I think SME aspires to be like JE someday.
@queenbee The rumour of a one year contract may have been started by me. That’s my speculation based on how their Japanese activities went last year and the information surrounding the suspension. I haven’t seen actual facts about the terms of their contract.
However, I think that their re-entry into the Japanese market with the magazine articles strongly implies that there has been some movement in that situation.
Awesome Jamie.
I’m not worried now.
Personally, for me I think most of us have to stop worrying about Mnet, KBS etc not allowing jyj to appear on their stations and bigeast members turning their backs on jyj.
The most important thing for JYJ is to win the lawsuit. Am thankful for all that has happened, the cockblocking, the slandering etc it may be painful but I think it is a blessing in disguise. It made jyj realize the harsh realities of the industry, whom their true friends are and most of all made them evaluate and prioritize their life.
Most of you know the life of am idol will not last long and its not sustainable. But now JYJ are shedding that image and maturing into true artists. Junsu is doing his musicals ; he has the ticket power and he’ll grow and enhance his skills in that area and best part his still very young in his mid twenties– imagine where he’ll be in 10 years. Yoochun and jaejoong are the same. I think we all need to stop looking at the short term interests but long term and in my opinion it looks promising for them they just need to win the lawsuit.
And I love the fact that they are not using the name TVXQ because it makes people look at them as the individuals and not the idol group. So for everything that has happened might be a blessing in disguise. So be hopeful and believe in their long term future rather than the short term. And most successful artists aren’t on TV 24/7 and JYJ are maturing from the idol stage, e.g the variety shows etc. And I like the approach of appearing in news programmes like here in the west and it reaches a whole new demographic of people.
I agree with you in not worrying that the situations SME created will destroy their career. They won’t, that’s obvious. They sound so much more confident in their goals and their ability to achieve them. I’m very proud.
However, the issues that underlie their banning from the entertainment programs do need to be kept alive for there to be hope of the industry changing. There needs to be the pressure of scrutiny and, hopefully, public disapproval. International fans can’t do much other than keep mentioning the issue and hope that someone notices that the whole world is talking about this.
We are also going to have to accept that BigEast will go the same way as Cassiopeia. It is a company run fanclub for TVXQ. TVXQ is two members now, so BigEast is no longer officially supporting JYJ. What BigEast members do about that remains to be seen, but I don’t think international fans have much to say about it. The best bet would be for Korean fans who speak Japanese to act as a resource (the closer to the source the better), just as we’ve found our wonderful Korean sources in the English branch of the fandom.
JYJ will be ok they are gaining so much fans and gaining alot of love as well im not worried either thanks to the ahjumma fans and thanks jimmie for the info!!! you are amazing!!!
I’ll ignore this, because SM is an arse anyways, so I’m beyond caring.
JYJ is doing amazing without promotions anyways :]
SM ‘ve got another headache ,did you guys see the news:
http://www.gokpop.com/news/chinese-government-bans-sales-of-super-junior-songs::4042.html
was this indirectly influenced by hangeng or is this standard procedure
They said that “BONAMANA”,”NO OTHER”;”ALL MY HEART”;&”SHORT JOURNEY”have not been “filed & reviewed”by the GOVERMENT to authorize for distribution…
LOL, it must be a total slap in sm’s face. since suju’fanbase in china are so big. like it though.
yeah,I like that too..:)
SM deserved that.
Karma is a bitch my friends~~~~
