JYJ, who got a physical check up in their mid-twenties, is drawing attention recently.
There was growing controversy over JYJ, since they delayed their physical check-up for 5 years when it is required to get a physical check up at 19 years old.
However, recording to Seoul Military Manpower Administration, JYJ delayed their check up for a valid reason.
On the 16th, military administration said, “The sayings about ‘entertainer favors’ is nonsense. They delayed their physical check up because of they often leaved the country since when they were 19 years old.”
He added, “If one stays in the country for more than 60 days, you get a notification for the physical check up. As far as I know, JYJ didn’t satisfy this rule.” (Translators note: He means JYJ never stayed more than 60 days in Korea since they were 19 years old.)
JYJ got their physical check up on the 14th. However, they announced they don’t have a plan to join the army this year.

I read in the original article by isplus, that Nikkan Sports from Japan requested this interview on phone and Military Administration explained what it says above.

“JYJ never stayed more than 60 days in Korea since they were 19 years old” POOR MY BOYS……
Yeah… SM made them fly all around Asia back then…
And people blaming JYJ? Oh God…
it’s not jyj fault for never stayed more than 60 days in Korea since they were 19 years old…
happy now they have time to do that
(blinks)
Question, I’m still new to the culture of Korea.
What’s with all the male celebs and the military?
Why must they serve? What’s the cultural reference behind it?
In America it’s rare for a celeb of any sex to join the military.
they are still technically at war with the north!
They have to serve for at least two year. Usually they go young but sense celebs re different they go later.
It’s not a celeb thing lol…. every Korean male citizen has to serve a military sevice. Celeb are actually lucky they can postpone it till they’re close to 30 … the average citizen serves soon after leaving highschool or college.
Oh so it’s a requirement for all males due to the armistice with the North? Right? Hope I got it right.
Technically, they are still at war. No peace treaty has ever been signed. That’s why the demilitarized zone is there with the U.N. and U.S. troops there.
ohhh,my head can relax a bit, they dont have a plan to join military service this year?(^__~)im happy……
ohhh,my head can relax a bit, they dont have a plan to join military service this year?(^__~)im happy……but i hope the result of their health is ok.i mean they really healthy, that my ultimate wish to jyj beside happy word!just 2H WORD IS MY BEST WORD AND PRAY TO MY JYJ BOYS!1.BE HEALTHY AND2. BE HAPPY!JYJ!SARANGHAE!!!
Yeah, well thanks to SME for working their asses off they didn’t even get to spend time with their families for their birthdays until now…
harsh harsh reality that SOME people “can’t” see… kehhH~
no,they “cant”…agree!
Controversy only about JYJ?
What about the other two? Did they get their check up in the past 2 years they stayed in Korea? Or is another way for SM to blame the trio?
Well, I don’t care. I know they will leave for their military service when required.
I was just thinking about the other 2 too. Yunho and Jaejoong is the same age, will they serve in the army at yhe same time?
Well, I was also curious about that, so I googled Yunho and his military health checkup for a couple of times, but nothing’s come up. But suddenly, in two hours after my last googling, so many “witnesses” uploaded a story that he(or she, who knows…) had the military health checkup together with Yunho last month, i.e., the month of 24/7 appearance at TV & SM concert at Tokyo, Japan. 😉
But… my gut feeling is that Yunho does not have this military health checkup yet. Idols’ military health checkup is one of the hottest issues on media. 2PM members’ health checkup was all over the news media. Then why not TVXQ2 members? If anyone saw Yunho at such a checkup, he twitted all around already….
Why in the world should there be a “controversy”? JYJ does not commit any illegality. They complied with all the rules related to extension for a health check-up. If they violated any law, just say it!
Sorry, but I really want to scream this to that sub-par journalist: “Check out their immigration records, then they will show how many consecutive days they stayed in Korea! If they stayed more than 60 days in a row and shirked away from the military health checkup, then, burn them with “controversy” or “privilege” or whatever you like!”
Oh, come on, I am losing my patience with SME-biased journalists day by day.
