i think it refers to SM and any pop Idol company nowadays.
He’s calling SME and the rest of the K-pop industry that are blackballing JYJ “pop culture merchant bastards”. He doesn’t like what they are doing to Jaejoong and likely to the rest of the industry. In other words, he has the same opinion as most of us.

I was confused at first too because of the way he has worded it “the biggest casualty of the pop-culture merchant-bastards”
My explanation or reworded statement: Jaejoong has become the biggest prick in the side of entertainment companies who are the ones who actually raised him to be what he is. They did not know he would hold so much power over fans hearts. Therefore he is a casualty because he was let loose and is not being controlled anymore which will let him rise faster. The entertainment companies are bastards who have been raised as if with no moral grounds. They just stick their hands out for more profit like beggars.
I always had feelings that SME even back then in Korea knew that Jaejoong may grow too big….that is why 1. He was the center of the group so people would pay attention to the other members too (if he was on the side….one side of the members would have been ignored) 2. He was told not to speak during interviews at the beginning 3. He had to play out a ‘cold’ image
But lol that died down fast cause Jaejoong doesn’t know how to shut up and he is way to warm to ever succeed in a cold image except to newbie fans….

Nemo Vision’s Director seems to highly esteem Jaejoong. To consider JJ one of the most bigger casualties of the pop-culture merchant bastards, is absolutely accurate. Obviously, he understands very well JJ’s and JYJ’s current situation.
