[VIDEO] Japan Looks to Feature Korean Idols On Its Dramas (Jaejoong on Morning News)
[0:00-0:18]: Japan’s televisions have stepped out to take in domestic (Korean) idols. The very first idol to appear in a Japanese drama is JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, who appeared in “Sunao Ni Narenakute” that was broadcasted last year in Japan. Jaejoong even received the Best Supporting Actor Award and thus became recognized in his acting abilities.

[NEWS] Ripley’s Park Yoochun and Kang Hye-jung Looking Cute
Ripley’s Park Yoochun and Kang Hye-jung looking cute
Looks like the second lead is finally getting some more face time with the hero. These latest stills from Miss Ripley‘s upcoming Episode 4 show stars Park Yoochun and Kang Hye-jung finally connecting over a “flower date.” Looks more like flower-shopping than a date, but I’m excited to see these characters have more screentime together, as they’re a bright cheery breath of fresh air whenever the drama gets too angsty.
And there sure is a lot of angst in Ripley, though so far it’s the fun kind, (as in well-constructed, well-motivated, character-driven) as opposed to the pull-your-hair-out kind (as in illogical, circling whirlpool of disaster). Though so far these two characters have been outweighed in the chemistry department by a smoldering Kim Seung-woo and Lee Da-hae, they’re the front-runners in the cute department, that’s for sure. [INFO] 110603 C-JeS Announces the Bringing of the Main Lawsuit Against Avex
C-JeS made an announcement today (translated below) that informs the fans that it has withdrew the petitions for injunctive judgment and is now filing the Main Lawsuit against Avex. C-JeS terminated its contract with Avex regarding JYJ’s Japanese activities on February 22 of this year because Avex, by unilaterally declaring cessation of JYJ’s Japanese activities and also by not doing anything that a management company must do for its artists for over half a year, breached the contract.
Avex is arguing that this termination is invalid. Avex then did not go to court to assert its position in the proper fashion but rather used its business influence to tell a falsehood (that Avex has exclusive rights to JYJ) to the venues of JYJ’s charity concert and severely interfered with JYJ’s affairs. C-JeS therefore has decided to assert its rights in court through its Main Suit. It withdrew the petitions for injunctive judgment since the concert is mere days away.
The translation of the C-JeS announcement follows.
On the Bringing of the Lawsuit Against Avex Management Corporation
The withdrawals of the petitions for injunctive judgment that took place yesterday were withdrawals for the Main Suit. Currently Avex is arguing that the termination of its exclusive management contract with JYJ is void, and is acting to interfere with the charity event through the unfair imposition of force. At this we have decided to file the Main Suit and we plan to argue our legitimacy in the court of law.
< On the Bringing of the Lawsuit Against Avex Management Corporation>
We (“C-JeS”) have come to bring the following suit against Avex Management Corporation (“Avex”) to prohibit its interference with our management duties and such with regards to the activities of JYJ, our affiliate artists. Therefore we report to you. Read More →
[NEWS] 110602 Code-V on their struggles, fame in Japan, Korean comeback, and surpassing TVXQ
Male vocal group Code-V recently sat down for an in-depth interview with Joy News 24. Although they’re still an unfamiliar name to most, they have a confidence in their vocal skills that puts any other rookie artist to shame. Reporters immediately noted that confidence, as the boys expressed that they were ready and willing to sing on request.
—
They were in the midst of introducing their title track, when they abruptly stopped to ask, “Do you want to hear us sing it live?” After a short on-the-spot a cappella performance, the boys went on to reveal that they also possessed dozens of different voice imitations to show off on variety shows as well.
This talented team is comprised of leader Sang Woo, ‘visual’ Sol, ‘chocolate abs’ Naro, maknae Taemin, and their newest addition, Louis.
Code-V initially promoted under the name ‘Bless‘ back in 2007 before making their debut with the track, “Addiction“, back in June of last year. Unfortunately, they didn’t meet the success that they had hoped for, and had to abruptly conclude promotions without attaining much in achievements.
“There was always a natural disaster following us,” they explained. ”We had to postpone our broadcast promotions because of the Cheonanham skirmish, and when we were preparing for our Japanese promotions, there was an earthquake in Fukushima. We’re sort of immune to everything now (laughter). In order to break that jinx, we persistently promoted in Japan.”
They continued, “While preparing for this album, we think our failures created a strong foundation for each of the tracks in it.”
—
Although they’re not quite well known in Korea, they’re already growing as Hallyu stars in Japan. They recently ranked first in a survey that asked Japanese fans to choose a Korean artist’s debut that they were looking forward to the most.
Japanese fans have been highly anticipative of the group for their vocal talent, especially for their resemblance to TVXQ in that they’re both a capella groups. As such, they were nicknamed the ’second TVXQ.’
Code-V commented, “We think the Japanese music fans see us in the same light as TVXQ since we promoted with a dance track, but our members are all vocally talented. A capella is also our specialty so we resemble them in that way. We personally like TVXQ and respect them, but as opposed to emulating them, we hope surpass them and show a color of our own.”
The members also added, “After TVXQ’s split, some of their fans came to us.” Sol revealed, “They say I look like KCM in Korea, but in Japan, they think I look like Jaejoong. When we go out to eat, some people even mistake us to be TVXQ.”
When told that those were rather dangerous statements to be making, the boys replied with aegyo, “It’s not something all five of us agree with.”
