It seems that a few minutes ago, an ad aired in Korean TV that proclaimed that Girls Generation (SNSD) and F(x), both groups affiliated with SM Entertainment, will appear in the KBS Jeju Special. The appearance of JYJ, as you know, has been cancelled.

I agree with you 1000%. My sympathy for the poor, poor put-upon “talent” still at SM is long gone too. Anyone and everyone who is “OK” with this latest development is complicit in it, pure and simple. EVERYONE in SK should be up in arms at this point over what is happening right now. The battle lines, and this IS a battle, ladies, are being drawn, right f**king now.

There’s been so much talk about human rights in all of this, and yet history has established very well the responsibility of the individual in protecting human rights at the cost even of his/her own life. The Geneva Convention established that saying “I was just following orders” is never an excuse for violating human rights. Supporting a corrupt company that repeatedly violates the laws of one’s own nation cannot be justified by a personal desire to continue to wear booty shorts on TV. 😐
@justsaying: pretty much. 😦 it’d be naive to think that jyj & hangeng were the only people in the past two years who wanted out, but after seeing after how ridiculously both parties were treated by the korean entertainment industry i can’t necessarily blame the lot of unhappy artists still on sme’s roster for just avoiding conflict altogether and waiting for their contracts to finish. jyj came from a group that had the biggest fanclub in kpop history and they still have to deal with all this bullshit – imagine three members from a less popular sme group trying to sue the company…they would get trampled.

But actually, SNSD /aren’t/ that popular in or out of Korea. That is the picture that gets painted a lot but SNSD really aren’t that popular in Korea anymore, and I think many people realize what’s happening in Japan is largely faked. I live in Korea, and the interest in those kinds of groups is dropping dramatically amongst real people, even teenagers. Just because k-media (who we all know is largely controlled by SM) goes on and on about SNSD doesn’t mean real people actually care about them too much. People are getting much more interested in foreign music and in NAGASU!
I think it’s right to blame the company and the artist as will, i mean seriously because of these artist who i am really sick of the boys can’t appear in TV. if we keep seeing they have nothing to do with it, then who does!! i also lived in korea for part of a university program for the past three years up until april this year, and snsd was still pretty much everywhere when i left. idk, maybe things have changes in the last two to three months but that’s odd. ah well.
i have heard a lot about their (and everybody else in korea trying to get some yen) japanese success being wildly exaggerated, though. kmedia’s ridiculous lies about the current state of the hallyu wave in japan and abroad will never not cause me to roll my eyes.

You are wrong to think that it is not the girls’ fault, because SME’s assets are the idols. SME is the one who is at fault. They are corrupting the people in charge of hosting the entertainment on the island by saying that if they let JYJ perform, SME will find a way to crash the event. SME is to blame because they are the ones that are putting the girls up instead of JYJ. In order to stop SME, we have to work together to boycott their events. If everyone agrees to do the same thing, than we can have a larger impact.
Those girls are not innocent, they are not victims. They agree to do what SME is asking them to do in exchange for adding a few bucks to their paycheck. They have no sense of what is right or wrong. It’s like if they earn money, SME earns money, which is their dream.
They don’t care about music, writing music, or creating their own music. Like parrots that just copy whatever their owners say, they’ll do just as their owners do.

To people who have planned to go to this event cancel your tickets. I’m sure if a mass of people canceled it would show KBS the effect JYJ has on people and that replacing them is a really bad move on their part. They would have to either cancel the event because of lack of turn out(which is unfortunate but may have to be done) or continue the event anyways even though no one is there. There is no point in going to this event and show JYJ signs because KBS will edit it just like how broadcasting stations edited Dream Concert 2008 which I’m sure a lot of you are familiar with what happened that day.

How productive. T_T Take that anger and aim it at your enemy instead of at someone who is trying to fight for the same justice you (I assume) are. The fact she expresses a VERY valid point in a way you don’t like does not justify your “fuck you” comment. You aren’t even trying to see what she’s saying, which is that blinding taking orders when you know damn well it’s morally wrong is an unconscionable thing to do, whether it’s for the purpose of murdering millions of Jews or in order to shake your little pancake-ass on TV. The fact this kind of behavior remains so insanely prevalent today scares the hell out of me and it considering what it’s led to in the past (the Holocaust), it should scare you too, no matter whether the severity of the results is the same or not. It’s the exact same concept and I’d think someone who is so emotionally shaken by any reference to Nazis would be scared shitless watching it happen.
