The organizing committee of Seoul Drama Awards (SDA) is planning to announce the ranking results of the entries at11:00 a.m.on July 20 at theSeoulPressCenter.
The 2011 SDA with the slogan Drama Road will be recorded biggest in its size with 204 entries from 37 countries.
Korean popular drama series are included in the final, along with other qualified drama series from across the world: Dream High, My Girlfriend is Gumiho, and Twinkle Twinkle (Korea), The Walking Dead (US), Luther (UK), Three Kingdoms (China), Shades of Happiness (Germany).
As for the category for Korean drama series, seven prizes are planned to be given to the winners of each part. Among the drama series that had aired from April in 2010 to April this year, the nominees have to meet the requirement: 1) bringing in more than 3 million dollars; or 2) being exported to more than ten countries
The nominees for Best Korean Drama Series include Sunkyunkwan Scandal, Baker King Kim Tak Goo, Dream High, Dong Yi, Queen of Reversal, My Princess, Kim Su Ro, Giant, Athena, Secret Garden, My Girlfriend is Gumiho and Bad Guy.
As for Best Actor and Actress, popular Korean celebrities included: Jang Keun Suk, Park Yoo Chun, Song Sung Hun, Hyun Bin and Gang Ji Hwan for Best Actor; and Park Min Young, Moon Geun Young, Kim Tae Hee, Lee Yo Won and Ha Ji Won for Best Actress.
Among the nominees in the final, the winners will be chosen based on the combined scores: 1) 70 percent from the result of the poll conducted at, a popular website designed to deliver Korean entertainment news with more than 1 million visitors from across the world; and 2) 30 percent from the voting result by buyers of global media content.
The best director and writer of Korean drama series will be selected by reporters at home and abroad.
At the press conference, secretary general Lee Jeong-ok of the organizing committee of the 2011 SDA said, “It will be a international festival for drama series from all over the world beyond the meaning of a simple awards ceremony.”
The awards ceremony will be held on August 31 at the KBS Hall.
