The Meaning of JYJ’s Apointment as Goodwill Ambassadors of the Asian and Pacific Regions for UNAIDS
UNAIDS Appoints JYJ as Goodwill Ambassadors of the Asian and Pacific Regions. “Recognizes Them as Pan-Asian Stars”
The group JYJ has become recognized by the United Nations in its value as the Pan-Asian star.
That JYJ was chosen as the goodwill ambassadors of the Asia and pacific regions for UNAIDS (UN AIDS programme—the agency under UN established in January of 1996 in order to help the control and prevention industries of AIDS in each countries) carries with it a special meaning.
The 12 specialized agencies of the UN recruit as goodwill and honorary ambassadors the stars all over the world of the arts, academics, popular culture, and sports who have name recognition in order to inform independently of their activities in their specialty fields, and is encouraging tangible activities.
The best-known star is Angelina Jolie. Angelina Jolie who is active as the goodwill ambassador for UNHCR and won from the world favorable feelings has even become recognized in her specialized knowledge when she answered at the time of her visit to Korea in 2010 about her activities as a goodwill ambassadors: “I learned that South Korea continually supports North Korea while conversing with the directors of the KOREA UNHCR and was moved. The world seems to be only talking about the situation of conflict and anxiety with the South and North Koreas and not aware of the support.”
To see the representative ones among the numerous goodwill ambassadors, the fashion designer Pierre Cardin, the field and tracks star Carl Lewis, and the Chinese actor Gong Li are active for the FAO. The former president of South Africa Nelson Mandela, the Argentinean pianist Miguel Angel Estrallas are active for UNESCO. The actor Antonio Banderas and the French soccer player Zinedine Zidane are active for the UNDP.
The UNAIDS also has recruited many those persons who can inform the public about the urgency of AIDS from early on and has encouraged tangible activities.
At the present, the goodwill ambassadors of UNAIDS include the German soccer player Michael Ballack who has been active since 2006, the crown princess of Norway Mette-Marit, the Hollywood actress Naomi Watts, the princess of Monaco Stephanie, and the Togo striker who joined the Premier Leages in 2009, Adebayor. Furthermore, Annie Lennox, the British singer who has won the Nobel Peace Prize, and Lebo M who arranged the theme song of Lion King and also participated in the opening ceremony of the Olympics held in South Africa joined after 2010.
JYJ who are the regional goodwill ambassadors for the Asian and pacific regions will have broad activities on the strength of their name value, which goes beyond the nations just as the regional goodwill ambassadors for the Middle East and North Africa, the Egyptian actor Amr Waked of the movie Syriana. The internationally-renowned journalist of China James Chu, the well-known Bollywood actor of India Preity Zinta, the musician and professor from South Africa Jimmie Earl Perry are working as the first generation of the national goodwill ambassadors for the individual nations.
UNAID, on the reason of selecting JYJ as goodwill ambassadors, revealed: “We are anticipating that JYJ will, in accepting the position as goodwill ambassadors for UNAIDS, be able to contribute to the urgency of AIDS and the importance of its management to the public, because JYJ is affecting countless youths not merely of Asia but all over the world.”
When examining the activities of the UNAIDS goodwill ambassadors, Annie Lennox attended the “Prevention of Protection Save Lives: Girls, Women, and HIV,” the policy conference of last June held by the International Peace Institute, and has voiced out about the human rights of women infected with HIV.
Mikhail Ballack also was awarded the “’Sportler mit Herz” in the 2010 German Sportpresseball Awards and revealed his acceptance speech as follows: “I share the vision of UNAIDS—to eradicate the infection of and death related to AIDS. I am proud of the fact that I can help to the extent possible.”
JYJ also will be participating in many events related to UNAIDS both domestically and abroad. Prior to this on the 16th, JYJ was also selected to be honorary ambassadors for ICCAP10 (The 10th Internaitonal Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific.”
At this occasion, Park Yoochun has relayed: “Many know AIDS to be a fatal disease, but (in fact) in the present people can live healthily with it if receiving treatment. We will do our best in our promotional activities so that the public can have proper awareness about AIDS.”
On the other hand, Koreans who are active as honorary ambassadors of specialty agencies of the UN are merely 3 persons with the exception of JYJ. The conductor Jung Myunghoon was appointed the first honorary ambassadors for UNICEF. Recently, the fairy of figure skating Kim Yun-ah has been appointed as an honorary ambassadors for UNICEF also and is shoulder-to-shoulder with international personalities and helping children of the world. The actor Jang Dongun is also active as a national goodwill ambassador for WFP since 2008.
To all my JYJ3 sisters:

thank you my sis ^^
can’t wait !!
i heard it’s going to be aired on SBS? is this true?
@jae_hero86
I heard the same thing, so it’s possible.
Thank you ^___^!!
@Soso @Anva
You’re welcome my dears.
T___T Will still be stuck in office~~
Hope to see plenty of uploads by the time I’m home.
Me too TT…
This is wonderful of course, prestigious without a doubt and meaningful on a variety of levels.
Then why am I sitting here lost in thought deciding where to post this comment:
JYJ was obviously “effective” enough for the UNITED NATIONS, why were YOU the only ones who missed the Big Picture, KBS??
I think KBS get it now. They were lost before, but now they have been shown into the light… I hope. LOL
Yeah! Compared with the UN appointment, the row with Jeju officials and KBS now seems like amateur league. JYJ are in the big boys’ club now, no doubt! Through their own fault (KBS/SME and cohorts) they have made it painfully obvious how backward their system really was.
JYJ ineffective??? *snort*
@ Jan @BAF@Hottie
Hi, i read somewhere that N7W was not approved nor supported by UN because of too much commercialism involved. On hindsight, if this is true [and it looks it is], it’s a blessing after all for JYJ to be dropped by KBS because they DEFINiTELY belong to a much more recognized, credible organization given JYJ’s unquestionable integrity both individually and as a group.
sweet vindication 🙂
@jyj1214
Yes, things do happen for a reason. I’m going to take the position, that the event in Jeju Island occurred the way it did to embarrass SME/KBS. The fact that the entire thing hinges on being a bit questionable, is just like adding whipped cream to the top.
🙂 So, no matter the circumstances, the guys came out on the winning end. Doesn’t get any better than this.
@lilbaiyu
My VE Sister……KBS who? 😉
@a BAFie and @Lilibaiyu
Haha! KBS who? * I can see the sarcasm in both my VE sisters eyes * I know this is gross – but KBS is eating its own vomit.
“Vomit” because it was talking rot all along about other bands being more effective than JYJ when our boys were dropped from performing as ambassadors of Jeju Island. What wouldn’t I give to see the top management’s face at KBS now?
How can these people whose bread and butter is in that industry know less than what we fans know? The answer is obvious.
Welcome back my Jr. VE Sister!
Yes, they do induce ‘up chucking’ as I like to call it. With all the swill they spew it’s a wonder their tongues are able to work long enough to help form words at all. 🙂
sounds so official! so world recognized. so glad they will be involved cause they will with their influence (for good) do a lot of good for this organization.
THIS is recognition that most people (not just ppl in the entertainment industry) can only dream of. Its not only for the cause of spreading awareness, but its also basically showing the world what a few notable people can do in order to change things for the better.
Of course, I couldn’t end this comment w/o the obligatory “Can the “more effective” idols do THIS KBS? I think not.”
All JYJ have to do is keep being themselves to prove their detractors wrong. I LOVE IT.
“basically showing the world what a FEW NOTABLE PEOPLE can do in order to change things for the better”
YES, and I’m swelling with pride that JYJ is recognized by a world organization as one of the notable people, what a great pride JYJ has given to their country!
( and where are the ambassadors of Korean Tourism and Culture, and, and the face of Travel Korea highly recognized by the Ministry of Korean Tourism, Culture and Arts and the recently awardee of their Ministry, why are these three people (JYJ) selected when in fact they are accused of disturbing the society and ruining the Hallyu Wave and can’t even appear on broadcasts in their own country, and now given a tasks to face the Asia and Pacific regions as Goodwill Ambassadors due to it’s own merit.)
3 Korean singers banned and denied a stage both in Korea and Japan but now will have broad activities on the strength of their name value as JYJ, which goes beyond the nations …what an irony!
Hi kris! That’s what’s ironic isn’t it? The Korean TV stations can’t keep on insisting they have the right to block JYJ if the UN itself is saying that they are behind our JYJ 100% The more they block JYJ, they more stupid they will look to the international community 😀
@kris
“3 Korean singers banned and denied a stage both in Korea and Japan but now will have broad activities on the strength of their name value as JYJ, which goes beyond the nations …what an irony!”
This boycott MUST end now. It’s time, Republic of South Korea! Do the right thing!!
@ Jan and @lilibaiyu
Yes, SME/AVEX and their alliance should just humbly accept that JYJ is not theirs anymore because more and more people have now seen how unreasonable they are. And I see these all ambassadorships especially this UNAIDS as a retaliation from the Korean society and now from a world organization to the injustices they are doing to JYJ and to the society itself.
@kris
I couldn’t agree with you more…SME and cohorts should do the right thing as my VE Sister admonished. The main problem? Their arrogance is not going to allow them to come to that common sense conclusion. The level of arrogance they exhibit is only going to make them even more stupid. They will continue to carry-on as usual, which is truly sad because the only thing they will achieve will be a reputation for supreme arrogance. It is a vicious circle. I truly don’t believe they can help themselves.
I’m hoping that the more these kinds of honors and accolades come to the guys, the more the Courts will understand, delaying the decision is only going to cost So. Korea, and not in a good way.
@BAFfie
“Their arrogance is not going to allow them to come to that common sense conclusion. The level of arrogance they exhibit is only going to make them even more stupid. They will continue to carry-on as usual, which is truly sad because the only thing they will achieve will be a reputation for supreme arrogance. It is a vicious circle.”
Gaaaaah! I HOPE you are wrong on this one, sis! I want to say more, but that’s all I’ll say. Thinking about SM never giving up and letting them go is just too depressing for words.
@ BAF
“Their arrogance is not going to allow them to come to that common sense conclusion.”
OH, I just hope that there’s something or someone who could give them a monumental blow on their heads to commit an act of redemption to all their misdeeds, or even not all but at the very least to JYJ’s before they would fall to total embarassment, but I think I’m hoping for a miracle !
@Kris
“…OH, I just hope that there’s something or someone who could give them a monumental blow on their heads …”
Erm…. like a bomb? 😛
My perspective on this…you can make a case for young and stupid…you cannot make a case for old and stupid. Youth don’t have a lot of years of experience, so they get a chance to change and make corrections. Old and stupid is too far gone. They ain’t gonna change. Too stuck in their ways. If you weren’t flexible all along, why are you going to be now? But again, I say, their arrogance and stupidity will be their undoing.
JYJ will merrily move on and this quagmire will simply envelope SME. The situation is like quicksand…the more SME struggles to grab onto JYJ to pull them back, the faster SME continues to sink. Nothing good is going to come SME. Like I said before…this is the faith I am going to keep.
@shadow
“Erm…. like a bomb? 😛
and they will be turned to bits and pieces and the they will rest in peace! NO
Just make it a bomb scare , lol , let them apologize first to JYJ and to us
then let them do a lifetime community service (like Chairman Cha) in front of Cjes Office or JYJ’s music studio!
(note to the troll and spy: this is just a joke, you might charge shadow and me as terrorists !)
@Kris
Lol^^ If the trolls and spies are gonna take this for real….. I might have just overestimated their IQ! ^^
absolutely support 100%……..
A+++…really ironic!!
Bomb [scare]? quicksand? LOL
Hi everyone, good early morning!
I also believe that SM/AVEX would not change that easily- they are way too evil to see the light.
But i remain hopeful for JYJ. From inch to inch, step by step, they now go – heaps of leaps showing to the universe how awesome they are as persons and artists. They’re not perfect but they work hard to perfect their artistry. That’s is what UN, and all the other prestigious organizations [forgot already because the’re too many :-)] admire in JYJ.
To quote:
“UNAID, on the reason of selecting JYJ as goodwill ambassadors, revealed: “We are anticipating that JYJ will, in accepting the position as goodwill ambassadors for UNAIDS, be able to contribute to the urgency of AIDS and the importance of its management to the public, because JYJ is affecting countless youths not merely of Asia but all over the world.”
I repeat:
“JYJ is affecting countless youths not merely of Asia but all over the world.”
I can’t express how proud I am!! Really!! 😀
Me too…….just sooooooooooooooo proud!!!
“We are anticipating that JYJ will, in accepting the position as goodwill ambassadors for UNAIDS, be able to contribute to the urgency of AIDS and the importance of its management to the public, because JYJ is affecting countless youths not merely of Asia but ALL OVER THE WORLD.” ~~~~~THIS!!!!
And with those countless youths are many more countless others too! This is truly an honor that is not just passed out to anyone; it really shows how exceptional these three men are! I am so proud right now!!!
@Tiffany,
That’s right because JYJ Family has no boundaries – extends across ages, nations, color, language, religion, gender preferences, status, cultures, etc. They are both universal and unifying – not too mention their healing effect when they sing to us.
@jyj1214
A++++, you’re right, even JYJ3 is an example of how they are able to unify so many people from so many different backgrounds. Despite the challenges/restrictions, JYJ always finds the means to expand and grow, and to do so with dignity.
@Tiffany
Amen friend, Good will always win!
So, are they goin to perform today?
Why don’t we trend somethin on twitter..like — #JYJ4UNAIDS
Just an idea ^_^’
I’m gonna TT: #JYJ4UNAIDS
Let’s!
omg twitter hates me today T_T
Will twit later~
ok, i’ll do that too =D
lets make it a trend =)
So proud!!! JYJ daebak!!!!!
so proud!!!! i am so happy for our JYJ
Wah, even UN recognised JYJ as effective star who can help them to prevent Aids, but “some people” still dare to say JYJ is not effective? TALK TO MY ASS KBS! So there’s possibility that today ceremony will be broadcast by SBS? Yay.. SBS not disappointing huh (at least until now) not like some stupid broadcast channel *cough*
Reading this news makes me proud and slightly melancholy~ With this ambassadorship, JYJ has progressed onto greater heights and a much larger platform as artistes and humanitarians. They can now proudly hold claim to being called truly great men with strong international influences to be reckoned with, moreover achieving this kind of status at such a young age. The concept is so unimaginably grand-scaled all of a sudden I feel like crying~~ I can’t help thinking back and empathizing with their struggles, hardships and disappointments, all the ugly misunderstandings and hurtful words they were subjected to….. I can’t help thinking back about our struggle as fans, trying to stay strong and firm in our support for them even through adversities that almost broke our hearts….. Suddenly it dawned on me as I finished reading this article, so this is what we have been waiting for: the pure moment of truth, when light shines and slices through the dark, depressing clouds of dirtiness and unfairness; when the world tells us they see pure hearts of gold and acknowledge it……
On this day, I am more grateful than ever for their guts to leave the wrong environment, to stand up to dark and unfair treatment, to hold firm on their stance in saying no to wrong beliefs, and most importantly to stay true to their hearts no matter how changes on the outer world take place. They have definitely proved their worth to the people who support them as well as to the people who look down upon them.
@htwong85
“Reading this news makes me proud and slightly melancholy~ With this ambassadorship, JYJ has progressed onto greater heights and a much larger platform as artistes and humanitarians.”
I loved your post. Thanks for writing it.
xxoo
@htwong85

*hugs you*
LOVE!!!!
Your comment is right on! Personally, more than being proud of them for being recognized like this, I also feel happy that they are leading worthwhile lives, something they could not do when some people only saw them then as moneymaking tools. From dehumanized objects to outstanding young men–that is the bottomline. No amount of bad press or blocking can take that away! ~~
@htwong85
your comment touches the sentimental side of me
i got teary eyed thinking of JYJ’s struggle, all those humiliation they were subjected and I remember a quote saying : “Every bit of sacrifice merits a fresh paradise”, but for JYJ, their sacrifices to have their freedom and to carry on their passion in music are not only BITs but BOLDERS and I just hope the true paradise is coming soon and that’s the win-verdict of the lawsuit and be back to stages both in SK and Japan, they can sing in any stages around the world but they are happiest when they are singing on their most loved stages and those are from these 2 countries.
@htwong85
Thank you for writing this. Like others, I’ve a few tears in my eyes as well.
xoxoxo
THIS, so much.
@htwong85 and to everyone,
I am crying with all of you, while being happy with all of you too, Mixed emotions!
Rejoice!
Not to make anyone squeamish, but a new report in Australia has revealed that older women (over 40 in this survey), are more likely to have unprotected sex & are therefore more susceptible to catching STD’s. That JYJ has such a broad age range of fans, their appointment as goodwill ambassadors for UNAIDS will hopefully have a big impact in helping to prevent this terrible disease, & in educating more people about it. JYJ shining love & light everywhere they go! ♥
PS: I get little shivers of happiness & pride whenever I read “JYJ Goodwill Ambassadors!” OK, spazz over! ^^
you get hugs from me Twinnie… ^__^
Proud.. Proud.. Proud..
*feelslikecrying* T.T
I’m so proud of the boys.
Having been appointed as the ambassadors by UNAIDS is a great recognition.
When we compare the saga of KBS and Jeju against this, those are really small fries.
It’s like being told by the teacher, “oh you boys cannot perform in the school play.”
And then the renowned director in the world come and tell them, “you’re invited to perform in the broadway”.
What those people had done, is basically petty and shortsighted.
I love it when it feels like a slap to their faces.
It feels really good.
Despite the fact that JYJ are really nice people, I think they do feel the sense of justice being served, breakfast in bed style!
So I say, always keep the faith in JYJ.
No matter how much nonsense they’ll have to endure, they’ll come good. 🙂
–> The darkest hour is just before the dawn. And dawn is the time that marks the beginning of the twilight before sunrise.”
love your comment!!!
Love your comment x2 😀
Love your comment<3
It’s like being told by the teacher, “oh you boys cannot perform in the school play.”
And then the renowned director in the world come and tell them, “you’re invited to perform in the broadway”. —> +1 like!! xD
we have to trend JYJ4UNAIDS!
…and maybe include @KBSWorldTV in our tweets too >.> *petty mode kicks in*
It still feels a bit surreal. JYJ are United Nations goodwill ambassadors. It’s a great honor and also one that holds huge responsibility. But I have no doubt JYJ will do their very best as ambassadors and help spread more awareness about AIDS, its education, and prevention.
I’m so proud of them.
I’m totally excited ! (^^)/ first, chun is winning on SIDA he can come at 29th, second,there’s a rumour that teaser will released at 28th and now this ! 😀 *dancing around*
Like I said always, JYJ is my pride, our pride!!
“JYJ also will be participating in many events related to UNAIDS both domestically and abroad. ”
Our boys will be very busy after this, but it’s all for good cause.
It’s just occurred to me that popularity alone couldn’t have led to even a major NGO wanting to be associated with them. It’s probably also a result of all the charity efforts and changes/protests concerning the status quo that they and their supporters have been involved in over the past few years. The three of them have definitely proven to be capable of facilitating activism ;).
I also think the same. Yes, they are popular, but their idealism and their approach to carry on their lives are remarkable and worth looking up to.
I also would like to think it’s subtle pressure from the UN chiding the South Korean courts to hurry up and decide already.
I’m pretty sure the UN folks studied JYJ’s background and know that their case is a high profile human rights issue that could set a precedent if it ended successfully.
The fact that JYJ won all decisions when it comes to the injunctions says a lot about how strong a case they have and the UN RECOGNIZES that!!!
This appointment is like the UN saying (with gesture ala Robert De Niro in Meet the Fokkers): “Hey South Korea! I am watching you~~~~”
😀
@Jan
“I also would like to think it’s subtle pressure from the UN chiding the South Korean courts to hurry up and decide already.”
Oh, yes, yes, yes!! I SO hope you are right!!
Tama ka Jan,
These UN folks don’t just randomly pick 3 good-looking men with amazing voices, their case and the court/Korean society’s response to it have the great impact on their decision making, and I think that KBS/SM/Jeju’s vulgarity highlighted that something is really WRONG going on in one corner of the South Korean society.
Hehe. Are you me? That’s exactly what I feel is being hinted here too. I hope the S. Korean courts will take the hint and do something good, soon, like finally judge the case and JYJ winning 🙂
That, or JYJ may have some really crazy international connections that got them to this ambassadorship. I’ve always felt Prain is treating them extremely well ^^
I’m thinking it’s not out of the realm of possibility that those who sent emails to United Nations SG Ban, back with the Jeju Island chaos, managed to make an impact. This is pure conjecture, but what if this is his way of saying to his own country…the world is watching.
@all previous reply
I’m always favorably surprised by this fandom and by the fact that I can hardly express my opinions because someone has already written everything I wanted to say. I can’t say more without sounding repetitive
I really like the common ideas that exists between us fans, despite we all come from different countries and we have a different background. JYJ Power!!
My dear Italian Sister, it’s called synergy. None of us would be here, it were not for that.
🙂
@mir90
@Ellis
@BAFfie
“My dear Italian Sister, it’s called synergy. None of us would be here, it were not for that.”
And destiny, sometimes it really feels like that too. We are here to protect JYJ, to surround them with love and speak out LOUDLY when we see injustice. I have witnessed how this is helping them in expected and unexpected ways.
I was just reading a comment by mir90. She said: “….DBSK5 were truly Asian stars rather than K-pop one, and that worked in JYJ’s favor. It would have been a lot easier for SME to keep things hushed up without foreign fans and the foreign press looking over their shoulders.” I really believe this statement is true. Inside the little country of SK, with a group that was just another K-Pop Idol boyband, this whole situation with SME exploiting children and carrying out these bizarre revenge tactics might have passed without much notice, Jaejoong, Yuchun and Junsu disappearing into pop oblivion without a trace.
That’s why I love the international fans with all my heart and am so endlessly thankful for this forum of JYJ3. We have all come together from around the globe to be JYJ’s strong right arm that delivers the sucker punch when need be.
Occasionally, people stop by here with the question, “why can’t you all think and feel like Jaejoong?? HE doesn’t have a problem with… **fill in the blank here.** ” To this I would answer:
Any hugely valuable and irreplaceable person or persons will need bodyguards, those sturdy people who step in when danger threatens and push comes to shove. They may not be kind, gentle people who share the artist’s ideals. They are there to protect and defend the artist. I rather think that the ladies of JYJ3, though we are far away, are a kind of ethereal protectors for JYJ. We will not stand by and see them slandered and harmed. And so we press on.
🙂
@ Ellis and my dear JYJ’s Lovers
I am so blessed being part of this family. Truly, i mean this from the bottom of my heart. In my lifetime, I’ve never been this passionate for an artist and i am so blessed to find a home with all of you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! MARAMING, MARAMING SALAMAT!
Let’s stay connected and synergized as we continue to support, protect and show our endless love for JYJ 🙂
“.. because JYJ is affecting countless youths not merely of Asia but all over the world. ”
I imagine someone face read this and get pale.
im proud of JYJ^^
u know what i want JYJ name to be known as a powerful brand also….
im glad JYJ can built their own name n what seems more awesome is JYJ started frm below…
don u think that amazing eventhough JYJ being blocked left n right, but they still n keep going strong day by day…
btw it is kind of shocked me when i know in SK there r no organizations to protect their artists..
sme keep being stupid everyday^.^!!!! ~whatever~
i heard sme going to take part in dream high production… n i saw d comment section majority was like ‘if sme joins, d drama will be suck’ muahahahahhahah….. i guess sme trying to take over d ‘drama world’ but it seems until now they never succed..
btw i hope JYJ will get stronger day by day…. n im proud they take d road of success with their honesty n hardwork 😀
@Butterfliesarefree
Haha! I was thinking along the same line as you, that thank God, a South Korean is the UN head .And he must be embarrassed enough to do something to redeem his country.
Didn’t Shakespeare say the world’s a stage and that South Korea is the main actor on it? Or was it you who told me that?
No, it was Will you told you that, straight out of The Tempest, one of my Shakespeare faves.
🙂
haii everyone ^^ me too so PROUD of this three boys 🙂
but Im wondering one thing, and please answer to those who know ^^
JYJ vs. SME is not the first case of banning artist which is done by SME, I remember H.O.T case as well
when Tony decided to walk out from SME, SM threatened that he wont be able to appear in any TV station, and it happened..
my question is, did Tony and his friends got the same, let me say, award like JYJ does? various ambassadorship and other award which I cannot listed cz it’ll take a week to list it 😀
bcs what makes me puzzles is, JYJ got a big recognition from all over the wordl, yet their own Nation cannot recognize them !
thank you
and still, JYJ fightoo!!
JTL (Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony An and Lee Jae Won) may not be lucky like JYJ because in the past, the Korean wave is not as wide now. But from what I know, JTL has won the most popular Korean artists in the MTV Asia Awards in 2003. In fact, they beat Kangta and BoA at that time…
I think JYJ were always in a stronger position than j.t.l because DBSK5 were truly Asian stars rather than K-pop one, and that worked in JYJ’s favor. It would have been a lot easier for SME to keep things hushed up without foreign fans and the foreign press looking over their shoulders.
Also, while H.O.T really was far more imbalanced in terms of popularity and vocal talent than DBSK5 (plus H.O.T had more recognized singer-songwriters) … superficially at least, JYJ is closer to a Kangta/Tony/Heejun unit. It’s no wonder SME is incensed – he can’t capitalize on old hits without the main vocals.
Exactly @mir90.
With H.O.T, SM got to keep the two most popular members at SM.
With DBSK…well, we all know JYJ were the most popular and visible members in the group.
I also agree with it being more of a Kangta/Tony/Heejun trio this time around. I think what really kept JTL afloat for as long as they were was Tony and Woohyuk’s fanbases b/c imo, Tony and Woohyuk were pretty much tied in third place for popularity w/in H.O.T and it helped that Tony had the personality and enough of a singing voice to take over the leader and main vocalist position. Jaewon….was not all that popular, and while he did gain more fans later on with his solo endeavors, he has always been the least popular member.
But yeah, I agree with pretty much everything you said here.
@Lilibaiyu
Aren’t you SO hoping the courts would award the case to our boys quickly so you have an excuse to take the next flight out to join BAFie when she opens her bottle of champagne?
That poor girl has been holding onto that bottle since July 2009 .We don’t want to keep waiting till it disintegrates into medicine, suitable only for rubbing into arthritic joints. And not for celebratory purpose for which BAFie bought it for.
@Hottie
“Aren’t you SO hoping the courts would award the case to our boys quickly so you have an excuse to take the next flight out to join BAFie when she opens her bottle of champagne?”
Yes. ER…. wait…. is this a trick question??
Ok, razz if you will. But I’ll have you know, I take Omega 3s and 6s daily to help keep my joints in working order, thank you very much, Now where is that darn cane! 🙂
@BAF
I would NEVER razz a woman holding a chilled bottle of good champagne in her hands….
🙂
OK, I’ll keep that in mind. 🙂
proud to be JYJ fans…JYJ hwaiting….!!!
I dont know how many times I said this, but I’m SO PROUD of my BOYS *CRYING for HAPPINESS*
“…because JYJ is affecting countless youths not merely of Asia but all over the world.”
THIS!!!! i want to see what ignorant people will say that JYJ have no ‘international power” or not effective for promotion. even a World Agency as Big as UNAIDS said that JYJ have power “not merely of Asia but all over the world.”
eat that SME, KBS and other ignorant people!!!
@one_nee
Agree! Agree! Send a tweet to that effect to @KBSWorldTV everyone!
@one_nee
That choking sound you hear is coming directly from SME/KBS and cohorts. They forgot you are supposed to apply 30 chews to make sure your food goes down properly. But in this case, if they ALL choke, I’m not complaining! 🙂
can’t help but say this…
this is on so many levels beyond SM and their so called hallyu wave with SM Town Paris dude..!
many have said this, but can’t help but say it still .. so PROUD of our boys!
