The proceeds from JYJ’s charity concert has provided the children of the Japanese city of Souma 1000 radiation detectors to guard against future contingencies. Read more Here: Link 1, Link 2
I can see that the event organizers put a lot of thought on what to give. For those criticizing how ‘small’ the donation is, please bear in mind the production costs made for the event and that only JYJ worked for free. ^^;;
according to amazon, the NukAlert keychain retails for $175. i’m just not sure if it’s the same model. giving away a thousand meant it cost them $175K. that really is a lot for a small city who probably don’t have enough budget to spare for this gadget.
our precious boys are so generous. i’m really proud of them. ❤
Before, there might be rumors saying 1000 radiation detector doesn’t cost much. But JYJ is getting the more reliable and expensive kind. $175K USD, I wonder if the charity concert in Japan gathered enough money, or the boys donated more.
They are talented and even have a good heart! OMG! I’m proud to be one of their fans! After they quit from SM, they never stop doing charity! This is what we call trully star
They donated US made NukAlert, so I presume of high quality and of course those are not cheap. At any rate, the act of donating this kind of gadgets is so thoughtful of Japan’s present situation. JYJ is just a three young men group who are still starting to re-establish themselves in the music industry in Korea and still dark in Japan, yet, they had given a big, fat 600kUSD and now this more or less 200k worth of gadgets. I know it doesn’t sound good flaunting how much you donated, but the fact that some people are still questioning how much the charity concert had raised, why don’t they asked instead how much their oppas and unnies have donated when in fact they are the most active in Japan presently. Or maybe some CEOs out there are thinking ” oh, that money should have been in our pockets.”
They could have given more if they had a bigger venue… still, this donation is no less significant. What I liked most about this is the lack of drama/fanfare/publicity, which I think is inversely proportional to the donors’ sincerity…
I like the part that the subs says that JYJ’s act saved the children of that city.
It’s a thoughtful and meaningful donation…true-a lot of money is going into Japan via charity but truthfully-if you watch their local news; most of the time they don’t need the money-instead they need supplies of everyday stuff and need. I think….especially in Fukushima-donating the alarm and detector is the biggest contribution if you think how much the town and the prefecture is suffering from the radiation. The gadget will help the kids to be careful and it last for 10 years even AND being use by the US Army…I don’t think it’s a cheap type…
JYJ love Japan just that much; it’s their second home so it’s just natural to give as much.

and it’s a freaking ¥19800 on Amazon? what? seriously…that’s like RM780 per piece and let’s times it with 1000 and it’s RM780 000…wow
I think they spend the money well with a good-honest and well thought intention.
