It was indeed a great deal of good fortune that Jae’s Seoul concert dates coincide with the block leave that I planned months ago. In fact, it was with as much blind hope than with foresight that I plotted my leave in November. God knows how hard it was for me to take leave…. I hate my company! Hahaha
With my leave no longer an issue, onward arrived all the concert ticketing, flight and accommodation anxiety!
Well, first I book my flight, and I ……….. I see you’re not the slightest interested in how I managed to overcome all those issues right?!
FINE! I’ll just skip to when I finally step foot in Seoul… what?! OK! When I step foot in COEX! Happy?! LOL
Anyway, the night before the concert itself, a few of us made our way to COEX to recce the place and also hoping to catch him doing his rehearsal and boy were we glad we did!
It was late and quiet but hearing his voice coming out of the hall was amazing. Because the hall was empty, his voice echoed through and it was heavenly. At times, we only heard the piano and music and it was so serene. He didn’t really finished singing any songs, probably to conserve his voice for the actual days. We almost went crazy when we heard him rehearsing Kiss B and Glamorous Sky! I have half a mind to tweet the good news but then decide against it coz I don’t wanna spoil the fun. XP
It did seem he had fun rehearsing as sometimes he tested the mic making silly sounds, “Ha..Ya.. Oh…” and then his signature 3- syllables laughter “Ha ha ha”. How adorable. We were trying hard to control our smiles and laughs. There was a security there you see~
After standing outside and listening to him for nearly an hour, we reluctantly decided to make our way back to the hotel.
The next day, we went to COEX pretty early as we were afraid the concert goods may run out of stock, *which it really did after that*, if we were late. We got our items pretty fast as we managed to meet some friends queuing even earlier! CoughcutqueuecoughXD
As time moved closer to concert starts, more and more fans arrived. I heard different languages being spoken; people from different parts of the world met. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what languages you speak, what skin color you are, we are all connected because of this amazing guy: Kim Jae Joong.
It was a really interesting sight to see. Many international fans, some came as far as the States, flew all the way, just to see him.
When the door finally opened, everyone was let in to find our seats. Honestly, the venue wasn’t as big as I expected, but still managed to accommodate around 7000 fans each day as reported in the news.
I heard some rumors prior to the concert that seats were not selling out but all these were unfounded as I looked around the hall, it was filled.
My seats on both days were quite good, not exactly very close to the stage but they were the aisle seats so view was unobstructed. The layout was done in such a way that all fans get to see him pretty well. I figured it was his idea coz we all know how much he love his fans. This also explained the “moving stage” around the hall at one point during the concerts which I will talk about later.
Lights dimmed, screams erupted!
Drums rocked and the King descended from his hanging bling-bling cage (?) LOL
As Jae cat-walked to his mic, we got a full view of him and realized he was wearing a fur overcoat. NO SHIRT UNDERNEATH! He definitely did workout coz his body is so well-toned, lean and muscular.
Narrow waist and V-shaped torso! OH MY GAWD!!!!! *Takes tissue to stop nosebleed*
9+1# and Butterfly provided us with a smashing opener. His powerful voice resonated throughout the venue and the way he sang was so full of confidence. As he rocked his body with the song, the standing crowd jumped along and the whole place was practically shaking! *HELLO! HELLO! FOLLOW! FOLLOW!*
The 2 gut-busting songs started the crowd on a high.
After a short MENT, he continued with Rotten Love. This song, composed by Jae himself, is 100 times better sang live! It was really good.
Another short MENT follows.
He took a few slips of water while chatting with the fans. Then he walked towards the back proudly showing off his PINK couch! Of course we know what happened after this right? HE TOOK OFF HIS OVERCOAT!!!!! Decibel levels hit record high! It wouldn’t be Kim Jae Joong if he doesn’t try to tease his fans right? He then v.e.r.y s.l.o.w.l.y put on his shirt, swinging his hair as he wiped his sweat off his forehead, enjoying the screams of his fangirls.
When he finally decided it was enough, he sat and at times lay on the couch and belted out the first part Kiss B. OMG! His body language and actions were so sensual and his eyes were like seducing the crowd at every glance and look. It was like having coughsxxcough… *You Are My Everything And So Hot So Cool So Sweet Oh Making In Love So Hot So Cool So Sweet Yeah ~ *
*Ahhhh! Take me Kim Jae Joong!!!!!!*
Blood rush? Are you kidding me? It’s a massacre! How we survived till this day is beyond contemplation.
And that was only half of the 3rd song of the night.
Second part of Kiss B was all rock and it was really cool to hear a rock version of that flirtatious song. Jump! Jump! Jump! * TO PLAY TO PLAY KISS B LIKE IT LIKE THIS TP*
Having aroused us, he calmed us down with Now Is Good and Don’t Walk Away. XD
A VCR was shown as he took a rest backstage. It was a short clip that had him answering some questions. He spoke so tenderly. He was very sweet.
I Said I’m Sorry is personal favorite of mine, and I am not disappointed. Everyone kept real quiet as we listened attentively to Jae crooned this awesome song. The crowd rewarded his breathtaking rendition with rapturous applause.
Jae invited different guests (Moon Myung Jin and Lee Sang Gon) to sing Shiny Day on both days. It was really enjoyable~ I personally prefer Lee Sang Gon version. For Jae to be able to invite such a senior figure in the entertainment scene to stand in his concert speaks volumes of how high Jae is regarded as an artist. And once again, I’m no longer surprise at his contact list. He’s not the social butterfly for nothing. XP
After the song, Jae let his guest took the stage for a while before bouncing back on stage with Light/Brighter with a burst of energy accompanied by a storm of flash lights.
He had his designed pink jacket on. As he pranced onto the moving-stage, everyone was caught by surprised! He was so near the audience! Glamorous Sky injected a burst of energy causing the crowd to go crazy. He was on a high and so were we! His robust voice surrounded the whole venue. Power and intensity of his performance received equally strong screams from the fanatic crowd.
ROCKER KIM JAE JOONG!!!
Then Jae took us backstage, teasing and trolling us as he shows us his “throne” and makeshift ‘palace”. I may not have understood a lot of what he was saying but I still laughed and smiled along when I see his antics and the mischievous glee in his eyes. He was so adorable watching the camera caught his fans on screen. I have to say; his English improved a lot as he went “Where are you from? I love Malaysia!!! I love Singapore!!! Sexy~~~~~~” LOL He also showed us his well-toned 6-packed as he playfully bantered with us, sending us kisses. Then he got all shy, fell onto the sofa and giggled. I can’t emphasize how much I adore this cutie. Baby is a changed man when he takes off his ‘Rocker-jacket’ and talks to his fans. He turns back to 3-years old.
*Tell me again why I love this man~ hahaha*
Kim Bum Soo and Gummy were the singers invited for Luvholic respectively on both days. Jae was so energetic and waved his slogan towel he told us to get. Attending Jae’s concert, you get to learn to multitask as I waved the light-stick in one arm and the slogan towel in my other. My arms were aching from all the waving that I had to switch the items on both hands throughout the concerts.
I love Jae’s interaction on stage with Gummy. She was so cool and they synchronized with each other so well. Both have such powerful vocals, it was an electrifying performance.
No matter its Gummy’s We Should Have Been Friends or Kim Bum Soo’s Bogoshipda, Jae tackled them with aplomb! Jae’s voice is so versatile that he is able to sing all the songs perfectly. But the most important thing is that whichever songs Jae sing, you hear Kim Jae Joong inside those songs. He made them his own. Just like when he sings Keshou, his delivery is really soulful. The fact that Jae actually wrote the Korean lyrics to a Japanese song is excellent. Only when an artist fully understands a song, can he put his heart in to write his own interpretation of it. I was really touched by his singing.
Let The Rhythm Flow bring us out of the low and Ultra Soul propelled us into a high. Once again, the crowd erupted in screams when his dynamic voice launched into the Japanese song. He also used this chance to introduce his cool live band. *SOSHITE HABATAKU ULTRA SOUL! HEY!*
On the second day of MENT, fans requested for him to do gwoyomi. At first he pretended not to hear, and then as fans shouted louder asking for it, he did the first 3 steps in fast-motion reluctantly! Lol
Of course that’s not enough as fans pestered him to continue so he did 4th and 5th as requested. He did the 6th, licking all his fingers and end with a full lick on his palm bringing screams and cheers! *Kyaaaaaaaaa~~~~*
His 7th gwoyomi step is an absolute upgraded Kim Jae Joong only version as he kissed his right palm longggg and harddddd seductively, only to end with a shy laugh. *Hahaha Baby!! Why are you so cute~~~~~~ I love you muah-muah*
Rocker Joong came back when Modern Beat echoed through the hall. There were plenty of screams at parts where he paused. Fans sang along and once again Mr Kim directed his own fan support inciting us to wave his slogan towels. XD *aww my arms*
OMG the live performance of Just Another Girl is so so so so so good! CDs, live recording and fancams do this song NO Justice at all! It’s simply freaking awesome!*JUST ANOTHER GIRL, AND ANOTHER BROKEN HEART FOR ME*
This song signaled the concert ending prior to ENCORE.
Fans were shouting KIM JAE JOONG, KIM JAE JOONG, KIM JAE JOONG. I even heard a male fan behind me shouting as well. You go fanboy! Hehehe
As soon as we heard MINE, the crowd went wild again. *How many times already?* The stage was gorgeous with chains and such. Fans were all screaming and singing along. As his shouts pierced through the entire venue, the crowd responded with louder screams. OMG my Rocker Jae baby!!! MEAN & WICKED! YEAH!
His ending MENT.
Perhaps I don’t understand much of what was said, but I feel his love when he addressed us. He expressed his happiness and thanks to his fans. You can sense his gratefulness and sincerity in his voice. I never doubt his love for his fans. *Which is why I love him a lot too*
The melody of Paradise started immediately after his talk. This song made me tear up. He sang right into my soul. Half way through the song, I was suddenly overwhelmed with sadness. As I watched him walked back to his ‘cage’, he got further and further away from me. When the camera closed up on his face, I saw tears in his eyes. He could not even finish the song. He mumbled the lyrics and then, he turned his back to us. He did not manage to face us again. I believe he cried which made me real upset. T____T It was so heartrending.
Without any more closing words to say, the concert ended. It felt unreal.
The decision to travel all the way to Seoul to attend Jae’s very first solo concerts is probably one of my most accurate one that I’ve made.
I’ve followed Jae since he debuted. To be able to witness his transformation from an innocent, even naïve idol to a full-fletched rock artist is my blessing. It is not to say he wasn’t good before. He is. It’s just that, now he is simply on another level. The feeling is totally different from watching his past performances. He exudes such great confidence now that I can’t help but fell even more in love with him. His masculinity simply blows me away. The way he flaunts and bares himself to his fans, not just physically, but also mentally is proved of his growth. Like a caterpillar to a butterfly, he undergoes plenty of hardship and obstacles. But he made it.
So now, he is telling the world “Look at me. This is my real and true self and I am proud of it. This is Kim Jae Joong.”
The moment of his revolution, is a memory I won’t forget.
I had originally chosen not to write a fan account because I feel no words are good enough to explain how I feel after watching his concerts. Then I thought, heck, why not? Just do it. I just didn’t expect it to be this long. LOL~ I just hope nobody fell asleep reading this.
The best way for me to describe his concerts is to encourage you, if you ever have a chance to watch him, don’t hesitate. Just go. He’s worth it, really.
Anyway, I’ve always said this; Kim Jae Joong is not perfect, but he’s my angel and I will always support him, no matter what. *So chessy* XD
