The YTN journalist who presumably created this piece here posted the following on his blog.
JYJ in Berlin – Unreleased Interview.
On the afternoon of the 4th, two days before JYJ’s concert in Berlin, I had an interview with them. Although unable to be used on the broadcast, there were a few good words and so I record them here instead.
It is the final world tour of this year. What aspects will you appeal?
Junsu: The current tour is not new, it is the extension of the worldwide album. There is nothing particularly changed on this tour. Instead, we were able to stand [on the stage] with the European dancers. He is a famous entertainer in Spain (Rafa Méndez). He is someone who can do acrobatic acts in dancing with the passion that befits Europe. He molded such dances into the concert. If there are points that are different then those are it.
To be contrasted with collaborative concerts from other agencies, this is the first solo concert in Europe. You said that the difference was that there could be a narrative—what does that mean?
Junsu: A concert planned by an agency is one in which many artists come out and sing their representative songs and then finish. But JYJ can show a variety with talk and conversation. From there, it is different. There is a story that dance songs and ballad songs give. But when singers merely sing their own songs and then get out, then when transitioning from dance to ballad it can be unnatural. It is different in that regard. Looking at it from another angle, it is not to post the title of the agency but rather a concert that puts the team’s name on the stake in the foreign land of Europe. In just looking at the fact that we made the first stride in Spain and Germany which were untraveled (by Korean artists), it is meaningful.
In coming to Europe do you actually feel the heat of the K-pop?
Jaejoong: I wonder if the heat/popularity of K-pop as we know it has not been exaggerated. In Thailand, Japan and China, if one merely walks the streets the music of K-pop flows out. One can commonly observe the selling of the albums. In fact, in Europe, barring perhaps the vicinities of the concert venue, it is difficult for any star to truly feel that heat. Currently, it is the stage in which the market called K-pop is just beginning. The fire is about to be lit.
As the manias who (are kind enough to) like K-pop become more numerous, in Korea they call it the “K-pop storm.” And since it does storm as such [one] wishes to know about K-pop.
As for our case, it was a solo concert and thus it was small in scale. It was a concert that did not have proceeds. In truth if proceeds are not created [one] would decide that there is no next concert. Because the next concert can only come about if there are proceeds. But [we are not like that because] we are performing while looking to the future.
How was the response of the audience of Spain?
Yoochun: When you look at a fan from a nation, you can see a bit the nation. I began to see the culture of Spain. Unlike the passion from Asia, it was powerful. Seeing that, I felt that I wanted to perform in this country. I think the feeling would increase as the stage becomes bigger.
Junsu: The fans brought forth [from us] such a strength. When we finished, it seemed that we had exerted beyond the strength that we could muster. It became possible that a strength that could never come about if we tried to do it could be brought forth.
When you perform in Europe like this, it seems that you may feel that you are doing good by your country?
Yoochun: The thought is not that [this is happening because] we are great—it is a responsibility, yes, but it feels as if the roads that we must venture towards seem to open. Seeing it in another way it is a concert about which we are not made to be satisfied. As for the European concert we wish to show a side that is honest and without exaggeration. We want to have the mindset that will not be embarrassed on articles that read “we are so hot in Europe like this.”
Jaejoong: Among the stars of Asia, how many artists are there who can have their first concert in Europe and show a stage that is honest and devoid of exaggeration on a small stage. Even if one were not able to finish successfully there can be a mind that wishes to say that it was successful. What I am saying is that I don’t want that.
What do you mean when you say the “roads that we must venture towards”?
Jaejoong: When we performed in Japan, to a single performance about 200,000 persons came. When we stop four times—two times in Osaka and two times in Tokyo – almost a million persons come. As one perform on such a large scale, even we begin to have conceit due to the mind that is satisfied—such as “where is the next stage that is even bigger”, “where else can we climb even further.”
If an artist has no goal, that is suffering. As you feel so—and you have a small-scale concert in another country and you see the empty seats in the audience, instead of a dejected heart, more goals seem to form.
Junsu: In Japan also we had no choice but to start from the bottom. Later as we felt that our popularity began to solidify more and more, in the end we were able to even achieve a grand slam. In Europe also, it is the right beginning to perform in this manner.
Isn’t it difficult being unable to go on Korean music programs?
Junsu: When we hear words that disregard us as if we lack popularity, my heart hurts. My heart hurts that they, in order to prove themselves right, debase us in ways such as lowering the number of our fans and such.
How do you feel that the future with the members that are separated will go?
Yoochun: When I was young, looking at the broken-up teams such as Seo Taeji and the Kids and Sechs Kies, I thought—Is it difficult to come back together?
It was difficult.
Because it is not something that only we five can do.
It is difficult to give you a definite answer.

Our beloveds are as humble as ever…may god blessed these kind souls with more success.
” I wonder if the heat/popularity of K-pop as we know it has not been exaggerated…In fact, in Europe, barring perhaps the vicinities of the concert venue, it is difficult for any star to truly feel that heat.”
THANK YOU JJ FOR SAYING IT!
” When we hear words that disregard us as if we lack popularity, my heart hurts. My heart hurts that they, in order to prove themselves right, debase us in ways such as lowering the number of our fans and such.”
THANK YOU JS FOR SAYING THIS!
So many things said here that really NEEDED to be said.
The first on was really really a true and humble answer
Th second one… T___T Poor Su .. THIS IS NOT FAIR AT ALL!!
At the same time, let’s thank the reporter/interviewer for deciding to post the interview, even if it’s just in his blog~~ Let’s thank him for arranging his recordings and penning down the humble and honest words of JYJ. Without his simple action of posting, the world would not have been able to hear the humble, honest and realistically wise words of JYJ~~~
This interview is extremely honest from the hearts of the boys, thank you to them for daring to say every word they said and thank you to the reporter for daring to post every question and answer that he posted~~ It shows that conscience is never lost, even if suppressed~
@htwong85
“This interview is extremely honest from the hearts of the boys, thank you to them for daring to say every word they said and thank you to the reporter for daring to post every question and answer that he posted”
I agree, these things needed to be said by the guys. There really is such a thing as being too long-suffering and just seeming to take blow after repeated blow. They must have been so upset about the misinformation reported about the numbers in Berlin, so sickened by having to read SM’s smarmy self-congratulatory claims of K-Pop “taking over” Europe after 2 government sponsored dance exhibitions with occasional shaky vocals. I feel so bad for the boys on a regular basis these days. The actual state of K-Pop Idols is pretty awful by and large. There are LOTS of real singers in SK and lots of great ones at that. Why is there this obsession with “the (manufactured) idols” to the exclusion of everyone else? That’s why I’ve given up on their being any meaning to the upcoming “awards” season. If the whole thing is fixed, what does it really mean?? It’s an empty show for the agencies to tout their wares, there’s no legitimacy to it.
I really hope that JYJ sees that there best way forward as artists is to start to distance themselves from The Idols.
They need to be Something Else, something new and different. And I think they can be.
@lili ~♥ RE: “…so sickened by having to read SM’s smarmy self-congratulatory claims of K-Pop “taking over” Europe after 2 government sponsored dance exhibitions with occasional shaky vocals”
^ THIS. I think nothing damages the much-hyped Hallyu-Wave more than this…. kind of behavior. Followed by the unrepentant interviews with LSM claiming his system is the source of all things driving the Wave. In fact, it’s actually Kdramas that turn attention worldwide…the pop-idol music is a side-dish…which has a tiny, tiny foothold in a niche International market.
I’ve said before….JYJ leaving SM…and the subsequent black-balling has forced these insanely talented, hard-working guys into a NEW category….REAL ARTIST. Exporting true artistry…one small concert at a time. (Huzzah !! Fighting !!)
the whole interview just brings forth such sincerity and humility. The boys say it honestly, that the Hallyu Wave is just reaching Europe and is too exaggerated in the media. They are also saying they themselves are not one to exaggerate their small concert, but will work they’re way up like they did in Japan. They are just truly grateful for their passionate fans as it is. SO tell me WHY there was even an article bringing up rumors of 3000 audiences or not? I’ll only look towards JYJ for the truth. And they say it as it is.
Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu are so sincere, honest, and pure in heart. I love them so much because of these traits. Who wouldn’t fall for these men?
I would like to thank the writer for posting this interview in his blog, this should have been published.
JYJ, God will pave the way for you ahead, that I am so sure 🙂
Take heart!
they´re perfect, how can they make me cry?, their hearts are full with honesty!
didn’t these boys grew up to be wonderful young men? how much did they suffer, work, and such to grow so much? they are so thoughtful and so smart. and if the environment in which they live would be more open and respectful of free speech and free open thinking, I am sure these men, we will tell us more…but they are very considerate. and everyday we fall in love with them more and more, not because they are perfect, far from it, but because they strive to live up to their beliefs….and this is what makes a real man. no muscles, no physical strength and physical beauty, no amount of sex-appeal, fame and wealth can make a boy turn into a man. these 3 are growing up everyday, and noona loves them
Couldn´t have said it better myself, totally agree with you.
@daebaksama i am a fan of your words. yes we like them cos they are sincere.
totally agree with u dear ^^
So humble and sinere answers! I love the and admire them more and more each day ❤
As expected from JYJ. It’s refreshing to hear their honest thoughts about the status of K-Pop unlike the blatant yellow journalism we have been hearing.
“When we hear words that disregard us as if we lack popularity, my heart hurts. My heart hurts that they, in order to prove themselves right, debase us in ways such as lowering the number of our fans and such.”
Junsu’s answer wounds me .,_., It’s not fair that SME takes credit of the JYJ’s popularity…
Junsu: When we hear words that disregard us as if we lack popularity, my heart hurts. My heart hurts that they, in order to prove themselves right, debase us in ways such as lowering the number of our fans and such.
dont worry Junsu.. KBS will EAT their shit sooner…
i know you worry about us bec of some bullshit that KBS thrown at us as if mocking JYJ fans’ power
“When we hear words that disregard us as if we lack popularity, my heart hurts.
“My heart hurts that they,in order to prove themselves right, debase us in ways such as lowering the number of our fans and such.”
Haters will always hate, a jealous people will always be jealous… they love to spend their time to prove everythings regarding how successful JYJ is actually not true…sigh..feel like i wanna slap this kind people.
“A concert planned by an agency is one in which many artists come out and sing their representative songs and then finish. But JYJ can show a variety with talk and conversation. From there, it is different. ”
Of course you are different JYJ. Fighting!
Oh my my heart feels really heavy reading these words. But they are so insightful and I do feel they try to answer all questions in a very thought through and sincere way. I just wish them to be truly happy and find an outlet for their immense creativity and amazing skills and talents. The last question if they will be five again made me sad. It seems difficult. Poor boys. I hope they all get together again one day, as brothers, friends, everything as one united DBSK. (sorry for all JYJ fans who only like them or got to know them as that).
Maybe as friends so let fate decide and it will be good if there is no resentment or any negativity feelings. But as a team? Both teams now it has shown so obvious they no longer follow the same paths. Of course you can hope and wait perhaps a long long time but by then, you have already move on.
Oh My Junsu! The master of fearless TACTFUL straight talk. 🙂
I like the way all three of them answered their questions.
They conveyed their message calmly, tactfully without the mention of any names yet we know exactly what and who they are referring. I like the fact that; and I’ve said this before, they are now free to express their opinions without the scripting or prefabrication they had to endure with SME in the past.
JYJ stands up and tells it like it is, with no hype and propaganda, just the facts (also known as THE TRUTH) presented with tact, clarity and honesty.
Hmmmmm reminds me of something… but lets not go there… LOL
Warming, sincere, wise words as usual.
Every interview I read, I find them more praiseworthy.
And Babysu… my heart hurts too, whenever JYJ are overlooked and unfairly criticized!
This is why I love them .
OMG, I saw myself in one of those pictures… but I’m barely visible… there is a lightstick in the way ^^
JYJ+Homin=DB5K hwaiting! (sorry, I just needed to add that ehee… my heart is heavy now… our poor eastern gods T-T)
you know this is jyj site right? why OT5 keep coming here?
As I am a DBSK5 fan I believe we are welcome here, no?
As I am a JYJ fan, I’ll say that we should also be aware of the guidelines implemented on sites we visit and be mindful of what we post. This is to prevent us from receiving comments that might hurt our feelings or, worst, might be used by people (I should say trolls) that are looking for trouble.
Thank you!
OT5 are also JYJ fans. Please do not assume that they are not welcome here. It’s comments from people like you that give JYJ fans an undesirable and very often unfair reputation of being unreasonably hardcore.
@phinea
“To be honest, I don’t really have any new news…the guys being abroad and all….but I’ll see if I can ‘make the connection’ …in any case…write away….I’ll be looking forward to it.:)”
It’s not that they are not welcome here, because of course they are. It’s just that comments longing for the “good old days” when they were 5 and in general hoping, wishing and peadings for a reunion are probably going to gather hostile responses. This Is not the place for that, there are certainly other Lists where that’s accepted and one would hope that people coming here will be sensitive to that very BASIC premise of our List. JYJ3 is for the fans of JYJ, their music and their NEW LIFE as independent artists.
Please try to understand that writing about how much you want OT5 back is like trying to reminisce with freed slaves about the charms of their discarded manacles.
@phinea
“OT5 are also JYJ fans. Please do not assume that they are not welcome here. It’s comments from people like you that give JYJ fans an undesirable and very often unfair reputation of being unreasonably hardcore.”
Oops, sorry, my reply above was to your post here not the one above…..
@Kajsa Granlund Of course your heart is heavy. Their answers had already given to fans. TVXQ5 was history and you are going to suffer a long long time. Be selfless, and move on. And of course, you can hope, but the results is, will not be what you hope and want.
Oh and I want to say BRAVO to the journalist who posted this interview on his/her blog.
THANK YOU!!! whoever you are….
Clearly he took the time to put together some great questions that would yield some informative answers, yet it did not make the broadcast. (I won’t speculate as to why…. for the moment)
Now I’m just speculating but clearly he saw the value of their responses and felt their voices needed to be heard. The reality is he could have simply just thrown up his hands after being told the interview could not be used and just moved on to the next “big” story.
I applaud his willingness to still publish the interview on HIS OWN BLOG.
So Again.. THANK YOU for giving JYJ a platform to be heard in there own words, while others trip over themselves to publish their fabricated half truths without giving JYJ the courtesy of talking to them first.
Ooops grammar correction… to be heard in their own words….
“Now I’m just speculating but clearly he saw the value of their responses and felt their voices needed to be heard.”
“THANK YOU for giving JYJ a platform to be heard in there own words, while others trip over themselves to publish their fabricated half truths without giving JYJ the courtesy of talking to them first.”
SO TRUE. I mean, in the TV clip only Jaejoong’s cut talking about K-Pop’s fans were included. I KNEW they would have said more substantial things.
“I wonder if the heat/popularity of K-pop as we know it has not been exaggerated. The fire is about to be lit.”
Exactly. I’m glad he’s being realistic about this.
i got nervous with what junsu said hehe…he is like indirectly giving a statement about sm haha…
jyj as one group vs SM Town as an agency using its own name in promoting in europe..
my dear junsu, so straightforward haha
No need to be nervous haha. Considering the fact that all the big 3 (and Cube also) have their own company concerts, he can actually mean any/all of them. But since they’re in this situation, whatever it is he said, good or bad, will always be linked to SM.
Oh Junsu sweetie, don’t be hurt anymore .. we hurt more when we hear those from you guys .. just remember, your freedom is more important .. we love it that nowadays, you can freely express yourselves .. no memorized lines, no manipulated response … you are now bosses of your own selves and not mere employees of some agency .. you already know your worth … and you pretty much know the direction you’re going .. i know that most korean artists are secretly cheering you on for bravely facing a monster like sme .. every victory you achieve along the way is an inspiration for everyone who has been oppressed one way or another by the showbiz industry … just try to detach yourself from such negative stuff .. just keep in mind that your fans has always been here and will always be here..
oops my name in yours,,^^
can’t agree more, A+……
true dat teya!! love the lines “just remember, your freedom is more important .. we love it that nowadays, you can freely express yourselves .. no memorized lines, no manipulated response … you are now bosses of your own selves and not mere employees of some agency .. you already know your worth … and you pretty much know the direction you’re going .. i know that most korean artists are secretly cheering you on for bravely facing a monster like sme .. every victory you achieve along the way is an inspiration for everyone who has been oppressed one way or another by the showbiz industry ” omo..thats just abt everything u posted..hahha..LOVE.IT! 😀 but i really wonder why SM artists dont leave if it is that bad there..is the price to pay (literally) too much? watching their concerts..e.g. SHINee, SNSD..they all have a really tired look in their eyes..even my dear Taeyeon has lost her initial spark..and why all so thin??! they look so malnutritioned..*thinks of Taemin’s chopstick legs* sigh…
@flutterbybutterfly
“..and why all so thin??! they look so malnutritioned..*thinks of Taemin’s chopstick legs* sigh…”
I hardly think that they’re malnourished. They have trainers and fitness instructors advising them, just like any other star out there. It’s not a problem of SM, it’s society as a whole don’t you think? If they’re NOT thin, the netizens would be first to rag on them. Like when KARA’s Hara (who’s the epitome of thin) had a slight bulge, the netizens blew it way out of proportion. And I actually think Taemin’s thin due to his natural high metabolism, plus the fact that he’s a dancer.
yeah apparently he eats the most right?! -.- but junsu fits so nicely into his pants..not fat or anything..more like snug..hahaha..yes taemin has always been skinny..just much more skinny these days..and i used to love watching him dancing..but i see he’s so tired now in all his performances..much more than the rest..almost to the point of looking bored..thats more worrying. ok sorry sidetracked. anyway i think true fans will not bother so much if an artist gains a bit of weight..they would care more on their health and singing well..oh well just wishing them good health and happiness..
i dunno .. some misplaced sense of loyalty perhaps? .. why did our boys take too long to leave? if am not mistaken, they didn’t want to leave, they just wanted to modify their contract (correct me if am wrong here) … loyalty, and of course the feeling of supposedly belonging to a family .. sometimes it’s too late to realize that you’re being oppressed when you have become too tolerant .. watching tvxq documentaries and knowing what they did to make it to the jpop world, i was blown away that they were actually able to rise up the jpop ladder but in the end, one would wonder if the time they spent over it was worth it .. the guys have been working 24/7 which is very different from a regular working job .. work from 9-5 means having fixed time for work and the rest of the day for yourself plus having a day or two time off .. signing up with an agency means signing up with your whole life it would seem .. what we see on documentaries are the very basic .. rehearsals, guestings, concerts .. what we don’t see is what happens every day .. their living conditions .. how it is when one gets sick, when one gets homesick .. when they get depressed .. i was initially amazed on how kpop artists were being trained, it would seem that a group ends up as dormmates and just do their training day and night .. now, i don’t find it healthy at all .. you end up losing your life in pursuing an elusive fame .. good for tvxq, they found the fame .. but i guess in the end our boys just got tired .. while others just decided to just live comfortably on what they were used to and just turn a blind eye to the oppression, JYJ went the other way and never looked back ..
wow..u so nailed it..was so nice reading this..*going “yeahyeahyeah” in my head* i think its cos of the korean hierarchy system keeping the young ones oppressed..they’re probably cussing in their head and crying to their dorm mates at night who knows. its a sad life for artists..although they might enjoy what they are doing..but sometimes seeing live performances lack the initial passion casts some doubts for me. but really proud of the boys sticking to their morals and even though the whole SMtown might be against them but at least they have each other..and i think that will keep them strong and come out on top. when i see the closeness and bonds the artists have with each other it makes me envious..like are they really that close? its heartwarming to see the friendships..but to be controlled all the time..for fame + $..i dunno..i think i will think very carefully. i do miss YJ of cos..i believe it was real..and i thought JS + YH + JJ were so close in the group..wonder why YH didnt go the same way..
♥
@flutterbybutterfly no more reply button so am replying here .. in the few months that i have been a jyj/tvxq5 fan, a friend and i (whom i have influenced on loving jyj/tvxq5) would randomly discuss why both yunho and changmin did not leave with jyj .. in the end, we would always seem at a loss .. wishing that we could actually talk to homin over these issues .. hehehe .. oh am sure, jyj have felt the same more so .. they must be hella good actors if what we see during interviews and documentaries are fake .. the friendship, the bond, the brotherhood .. if that’s fake then let’s just stop right here .. but if we believe otherwise, then the wondering would never stop .. i’ve seen articles stating that tvxq have declared their intentions of leaving sme .. leaving as five .. that’s why in some articles, it was stated that there was a change of stance with homin .. i would not touch on the verbal exchanges because am sure these five have had worse fights .. from my point of view, what hurts jyj the most is the lack of effort to communicate from the other side .. maybe homin got too scared of what sm can do to them if they leave .. maybe sme found ammunition to blackmail homin .. we’ve seen what sm can do and what they are doing .. maybe homin are just too ashamed to talk to jyj for not keeping their ground and have just become defensive during interviews .. maybe they also find it awkward to still be using tvxq when they are just two but since they’ve decided to stick with sm, it means not having much voice over such choices and decisions …. lots of maybes plus we really don’t know what these guys have talked about on their own .. leaving sm is not a decision that’s hatched overnight .. am sure they have planned for it .. plan a, plan b, plan c … guess what they didn’t anticipate was two deciding to stay behind .. of course, another endless thought would be what would have happened if all five were able to leave … it would have been too damaging for sme .. sme learned from shinwa, so am sure they were ready for tvxq .. i imagine it was not easy to get the two to stay behind, i won’t be surprised if they used downright dirty tricks to have at least two stay ..
yeahhh..so many what ifs, maybes..so dramatic..sigh..i dont really know about the stories/scandals behind shinhwa etc..along the same line? its a pity sm abuses power instead of putting it to good use..but seriously if u are an artist in a different management u cant even get the cell number of your friend in another?? thats madness..the blackmailing possibility is beyond maddening too..somehow i cant even refer to HM as tvxq without cringing a lil..it doesnt feel right/complete..
as i’ve often said before, i have no ill feelings for homin, though like you for me tvxq is 5 so i just refer to them as homin .. if fans are hurt by what’s happening, am sure it must be more for jae, su and chunnie .. and am still full of respect for the three because although they have given vague responses when asked about homin, they have not totally closed the door on the two .. there is still hope in the least .. i for one am not hoping for the great tvxq reunion .. nahh … just a restoration of friendship .. a chance for the five to go out drinking and have a no holds barred talk will be enough for me ..
yeah that sounds more realistic…yeah i wish they could just sit down and forget about what happened for one night…go have a beer or something..but i dunno how close in actual fact jyj + hm are with each other..cos as time passes by..the distance might cause inevitable rifts in their friendships..oh well its up to fate now
@flutterbybutterfly
Actually, I’m not surprised Yunho didn’t leave with JYJ. Yunho does not strike me as the type to take risks as big as this; after all, this is a move that could possibly destroy his career. One of the reasons why JYJ filed the lawsuit was because of the lack of freedom in choosing/creating their music, and tbqh, I don’t think Yunho’s passion for creating music is as big as JYJ’s. Besides, he has a strict dad AND he has always been SME’s golden boy, the heavily promoted one along with Junsu and sometimes Yoochun. Frankly speaking, I think he likes to stay safe, it’s like “Why leave a company that promotes me for a future that is unknown?”
Closeness between members… I guess that would depend on how each person sees it. I’m actually more surprised that Changmin didn’t leave with JYJ because I always felt he was closer to them rather than him to Yunho (but I guess that’s also where Changmin’s professor parents come into play). As for Yunho, he has his own group of outside friends that he hangs out with often enough.. and when he does, it appears he doesn’t even contact the other four (AADBSK3). So idk, he’d be perfectly fine. Those are my observations.
“i do miss YJ of cos..i believe it was real”
Meh, this I wholeheartedly disagree with. They were definitely good friends, but how I see it, they weren’t even the closest in the group… at least not on Jaejoong’s part. IMHO, YunJae, as well as YooSu, were used as SME promotional tactics. SME orders them to play it up, and fans eat it up begging for more.
==NOTE: This is also the reason why I think YooSu moments have lessened considerably after leaving SME… because they’re not obligated to do it now.
Oh and btw, I’m not saying they weren’t close and that some of those moments aren’t real. They just aren’t as real as shippers think they are. Know that SME lets us see what they want us to see.
** Woah, this was longer than I meant for it to be… ><
hi missy..kshmd for your post..i learn abit more about their past now. i did read about the yh + dad + sme favoring him thingy but didnt know if it was true..i thought since cm was the youngest he wouldnt have much say in the issue..come to think of it during random videos yh does seem abit distant at times..*shrugs* i guess i really felt that jae looked up to yh like a big bro and had a close friendship with him..and sme is really sadistic man..ordering them to do fanservice?!why cant they just do it naturally..or say i dont want to..sickos..
@flutterbybutterfly
“i guess i really felt that jae looked up to yh like a big bro and had a close friendship with him..and sme is really sadistic man..ordering them to do fanservice?”
I think from interviews even back then, it was pretty evident that Jaejoong had little in common with Yunho. In the “Couples Talk” videos they appeared awkward and uncomfortable together. Jaejoong was much closer to Yuchun, always I think. When you view their Couples Talk video you can see the difference immediately. They are close close friends, they are sympatico. Soulmates.
Fanservice is a part of the guys’ past conjured up by SM to ensnare young girls that now haunts Jaejoong and makes him unhappy. Anyone and everyone who says they love him and want him to be happy from now on will do him a great service by never mentioning YJ again.
hi lili kshmd for your reply..i’ve not heard of couples talk?maybe will go watch abit and see for myself..oh no then when fans put up yj placards/banners jj must be feeling so… -.-”’ of cos he doesnt show it..thats why i couldnt tell..i only thought jj + yc bonded cos they seem more like the ”bad boys” in the group..with the tattoos and all..haha..
@flutterbybutterfly
i enjoyed all the videos..kshmd! ^^ i got caught a lil offguard for the yoosu ending though..
Thank you for translating this insightful interview. I love how humble they are. I was getting tired of all these over-exaggerated articles about kpop taking over the world. I think this whole hallyu wave thing would be a lot more tolerable and a lot less annoying if they can learn how to be humble like JYJ.
To these three young brothers, and what they have to say here…
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.”
Nelson Mandela
When all this drama is said and done, the three of you can look back and say, “I did what I had to do.” Being a supportive and proud fan, I am with you every step of the way. I have patience like you wouldn’t believe. 🙂 So, you three simply keep on doing what you’re doing, and I’ll be there right beside you, as will many others. Eventually, the rest of your country will see and know what we already know, JYJ is the real deal.
PEACE
Mommy Hen! *hugs u*
These three have nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to worry about. We JYJ fans will back them up til the end, whatever that end might be.
They have been such an inspiration to alot of us, in whatever generation we are, and this impact only says so much about their influence not only as artists, but also as human beings. They have reached people from far and wide using music as their instrument, but they have no idea of the gravity of that influence has become for a huge number of people.
As long as they will stay as humble and as hungry for success (while staying true to themselves & being fair to all) as they are now, they will have nowhere to go but up, and there’s no stopping them.
In the end it’s JYJ. YES.
Twinnie, Mummy-hen!! *hugs you both*
I just ordered the JYJ Come On Over DVD ^___^ Now I just have to go check my bank account & calculate my expenses to see if I can afford to eat for the next month!!
you just ordered it???? aren’t u one loaded twinnie… >.>”’
and ur back???? aigoo~
When I was in school, my mom used to send a ‘care package’. I won’t tell you all that was in it, suffice it to say, it helped a lot, when my funds ran low. So, suck it up girlie. Sometimes you have to give to get. 🙂
Nowadays, because I’m trying to improve my health by losing weight. I’m eating less and working out more. So, we are on the same track, but for different reasons. 🙂
I’m holding out for SKKS dvd, and the Seoul concert. Then I’ll shoot for Ms. Ripley and PTB. This one will probably be down the line.
PS: I absolutely love the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote. I’ve quoted it before on mine & twinnie’s blog!! ♥
Abt that quote though… hahahha… u wouldnt wanna do that when u’re spellunking or mountain climbing…. heheh~
While searching for some good ones, that one just leaped off the page to me. Sammie you’re right…not good for either. But since I hate getting lost, that probably is not likely to happen either. 🙂
it’s never good to get lost… heheheh…. i’m sure we’ll find our way if u call out to us Mommy Hen!!!! ^_^
Yes Sammie sweetie, it all boils down to what you put out, you get back. That’s why they will be even more successful down the line. The guys know where they want to go, and are willing to work hard to get there. They know time is on their side – they are young still – so, they can take their time and plan it well.
*Hugs to both of you!*
*hugs back*
so lucky to have you both… and JYJ… and the JYJ Family!
*hugsjunsu* I’m hurt too, let’s be strong for each other!!!!

Go on my JYJ u r going right way we are behind u always.

Lets go JYJ. JYJ family lets follow like always

Thank you to the brave journalist for seeing the value of this un-aired interview and in letting it be known in Korea.
😉
I can see Peruvian Flag!!!!!!! ♥♥
Great Interview… we are so proud of them!!…!!
JYJ Fighting!!!
The sign next to the flag says Peru really loves JYJ.
And one wonder why JYJ is so love by us!!!
They are the most perfect good looking, hard working and humble creation on this planet.
They are also very human, their heart bleed by all the thing happen to them, just that normally they smiled their way through infront of us, their fans.
JYJ, dont forget that we are walking together with you towards your goal!!!
JYJ, that was an honest, sincere and profound answers to a highly sensitive questions, that’s why so many fans worldwide loves you. Kpop idols should learn from you and emulate your humilityand hardwork. I commend your ideas Jaejoong. My heart bleeds for you Junsu for the way they’re putting you down in South Korea and I agree Yoochun, it would be hard for you to reunite with the other two, only time will tell.

JYJ always speaks with sense, and thanks to the interviewer for outlining such intellectual questions (rather the: what’s your ideal type kind of thing), greats answers, I hope some papers will publish this kind of interview.
Jaejoong : “..in Europe, barring perhaps the vicinities of the concert venue, it is difficult for any star to truly feel that heat. Currently, it is the stage in which the market called K-pop is just beginning. The fire is about to be lit. ”
I think that old man out there in that mighty company should learn a thing or two from Jaejoong, as young as 26 yr old man can see clearly the European K-pop exaggeration fever, maybe perhaps Jae is still young with clear eye vision, that old man has severe blurry vision that he has to highlight everything with his illusion…poor old man with his mediamen disciples!
What an honest an interview. I am impressed by how they answered the questions and seem to not budge. I like that they are level-headed about the so-called K-pop invasion in Europe or other countries that are not Thailand, Japan, and China. Perhaps coming from an agency (SM Ent.) which uses so much hype to promote artists or events, and now handling their own activities, they refuse to contribute to the exaggerated headlines that Kpop is indeed taking over the world. They are not delusional about their popularity overseas.
Flawless oppas. 🙂
@kaye
Great post. I totally agree with you.
🙂
Really glad this part of the interview surfaced. They’ve always shown an amazing maturity, reasonableness, humbleness and wisdom. Every time I read an interview from any of the members, my respect and admiration of them grows deeper and deeper. Very proud!
so true .. the first and foremost reason why i began loving JYJ is their courage to go against an agency as big as sme whom they know can crush them at any point or make their lives hell .. but they did not have second thoughts .. their resiliency is inspiring .. I realized I cannot just be a fan of someone who makes good music and sells many albums .. I am their fan because I respect them too much .. should they stop making music, should they stop acting and dancing .. whether they win or lose in their lawsuit, the path they have taken is already a legacy in itself …
Hi @teya
A+++ “Their resiliency is inspiring” ~ that’s the perfect phrase! I agree too, I am a fan of Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun not only because they are brilliant artists, but how they carry themselves as men. To endure what they have with dignity….it’s truly amazing.
” I realized I cannot just be a fan of someone who makes good music and sells many albums .. I am their fan because I respect them too much ..”
A+++
I feel the same way with you.
A BIG thank you sir , Mr Yang Ilhyuk, for posting and sharing this on your blog.
Anyone wonders why JYJ fans fight tooth and nail for this 3 guys should just read this interview.
Honesty, integrity, humbleness all found from a short interview.
“Yoochun: When I was young, looking at the broken-up teams such as Seo Taeji and the Kids and Sechs Kies, I thought—Is it difficult to come back together?
It was difficult.
Because it is not something that only we five can do.
It is difficult to give you a definite answer.”
i understand that micky…. it’s not that easy to get back together. it’s not that simple. so much has happened and some fans make it even more complicated by adding fuel to the fire…. but… i still miss it. and it hurts. but you are right… time can only tell and resolve everything…. T.T
Kimi ga doko ni ite Dare to doko ni ite
Donna yume wo mite nani shite waratte ite mo
Zutto koko ni ite ima mo koko ni ite

I think that time will tell that it’s not going to happen. Do you really need for them to come out and SAY it in order to believe it?? They are trying to be gentle with their fans, but that doesn’t change the facts. If it ever happens it’s not going to happen for YEARS. Because above all, SM is not going to ALLOW it to happen unless they OWN it like before and JYJ understands that and will NEVER go back under those conditions..
why are the unreleased interviews the ones with all the substance?! loved this interview..loved the (important) questions..loved how the boys answered so honestly, tactfully, and to the point..not those always beating around the bush kinda answers..which certain artists are scripted to do so i believe. their answers are worthy of everyone’s respect..to see their maturity in their thinking after coming so far..i believe it makes us all feel like proud mommas. ^^ i’m actually happy that they had to undergo all these obstacles..it helped them reassess themselves and reflect on the essential parts of being a true artist..which they all obviously nailed. ❤ ❤ ^^ and its so heartwarming to see them so humble..such a beautiful trait.
kamsahamida to the interviewer!! please release the interview to korea!hahaha ^^
❤JYJ❤
No wonder it wasn’t publish on a major newspaper/broadsheet… aside from the obvious that they are not only truly amazing but wise and mature. Reading between the line, they are also being defiant and also with subtlety are fighting back. Junsu’s comment on agency sponsored concerts and on not appearing on broadcast shows will not sit well with big talent agencies and broadcast stations. Jaejoong questioning the real impact and popularity of K-pop in Europe will be unacceptable to the Korean government and for people that brags about it. Yuchun’s statement about not exaggerating and bragging about their achievements would be a slap on the face for people and agencies that magnify any small achievements they have on foreign lands.
“…fighting back…”
THIS!!
THIS
@miaw
“THIS”
NO kidding. GOOOOD post JYJfanboy. As good as it gets.
🙂
THIS!!! And SPOT ON!! If anyone does not know how to read and think with your heart on this interview and it is translated as truthful as the original and in English!! Might as well go back to school.
Ah, but the truth shall set you free…and as more of the truth comes out…no matter how…those who are telling the truth will have nothing to apologize for…those who have been lying through their eye teeth…will have a day of reckoning.
As I said before…this the faith that I’m keeping.
Thanks @JYJfanboy for sharing the essence of this interview.
You really hit the nail on the head here JYJfanboy O~o
Right on, @JYJfanboy. THIS is the truth that hurts and therefore must not be giving the light of the day on any published major media. I could not have put it better.
‘…you see the empty seats in the audience, instead of a dejected heart, more goals seem to form.’
I love this. JYJ, everyday in the midst of troubles, teaching me how to move forward with a positive mind and heart.
I’m sad though that they said the Europe concerts were without proceeds, which I take to mean (monetary) profit. I hope they at least broke even, especially after the US visa fiasco and taking a loss on the US ‘showcases.’
I want them to just rake in the dough as a big ‘in your face!’ to all the people trying to keep them down. Someone mentioned it before, but I would LOVE for them to eventually start their own management company that could nurture the same sense of artistic integrity they’ve found.
@Linnea
“I’m sad though that they said the Europe concerts were without proceeds, which I take to mean (monetary) profit. I hope they at least broke even, especially after the US visa fiasco and taking a loss on the US ‘showcases.’”
I was wondering about this, speculating that this might be the case and I guess that indeed it was true–there was no profit to be made in Europe this time around. Mounting these 2 shows was tremendously expensive. Still, they went ahead because they wanted to lay groundwork for future concerts. I have no doubt that when they return the venue will be a larger one. They can’t make money with 3000 tickets sold, not with their show. But this is what I admire about JYJ. They are thinking many months down the road. They are planning for their future. They are indeed wise.
would i be too greedy to say i want them to reap the fruits of their “investments” and not those other groups that will go after them and ride in their coattails ?
Well, even they did not make any profit, I think the more pressing matter is what JYJ managed to accomplish in Europe. And the best thing about the Euro concerts is that is was not done in the interest of profit, but it was more so a gift to their European fans. Moreover, it was a celebration of the European fans’ appreciation and love for JYJ.
These are really great answers. Inspiring actually… quite humbling…
“If an artist has no goal, that is suffering. As you feel so—and you have a small-scale concert in another country and you see the empty seats in the audience, instead of a dejected heart, more goals seem to form.” -JJ
Thanks to Yang Ilhyuk for sharing and jyj3 for the translation
my heart hurts reading this >…< …………………….. they are so honest and that's why i love them ^^
JYJ, everyday you give me reasons to love you and admire you more and more.. such a smart, mature and honest interview.. this is such a pride for me to be JYJ fan, and they give me all the reasons in the world to be proud of my choice..
It’s such a pity that this interview will only be posted on this reporter blog, and wont be made public on TV.. but the interview contains some truth that cant be said in Korea.. SME and K-media (paid by SME) bragged so much about the so called popularity of kpop and SMTown in Europe.. we know the power of SME over the broadcast channels, and they’ll never dare to prove SME wrong now JYJ speaks the truth saying “the fire is just about to be lit” in Europe.. but yeah, JYJ is very honest there.. the european general public has absolutely no clue about Kpop, it only concerns initiate people.. it cant be compared with the fever in Japan or Thailand.. I’m glad JYJ give a very honest and wise answer about it.. They also have a very realistic view over the kpop in Europe.. Those 3 young men have a bright future.. they know exactly who they are, what they want, where they are and where they go..
Proud JYJ fan!!!
Well all the part about the trustful and honest and praiseworthy answers about K-pop in Europe and such have already been commented a lot.
So I’ll just comment on the : “The fans brought forth [from us] such a strength. When we finished, it seemed that we had exerted beyond the strength that we could muster. It became possible that a strength that could never come about if we tried to do it could be brought forth.”
That comment also show how humble they are. Even if they say the strength came from the fans, in truth it came from them.
They had this strength in them, and fans also cheered all the more because they were showing that strength.
Junsu is just too humble, for sure this is a strength they have and can bring forth. Didn’t they bring forth so much strength and courage already?
They do that everyday so Junsu don’t belittle the amazing strength you guys have in yourself.
From watching the fancams of the concerts, I don’t think they were being humble to say the fans brought out more from them than they had. I saw it happening as they realized how loved they were and the excitement of the fans. Fans really did a great job to make the atmosphere for JYJ so exciting. It was such a great gift to them, especially with all the disappointments in Korea.
Then I guess it was a give-give situation… I mean I was n Barcelona, and really the reason why we were excited to that point was also because of seeing them so happy and energetic…
I guess with the showcase in the morning they got confident (really during the showcase we could see them going from obvioulsy a bit anxious to completely hyper even if it was just 2 songs) so came on stage in the evening with the confidence they got in the morning… And the effect got amplified for Berlin concert…
In any case still all that strength, the have it in themselves. Let’s work hard so that they can get even more strength in the future ^^
wow they are so humble…really admire them for it.
and the way they answer the questions are so straightforward and mature and honest.
su…all of us are sad that you guys face so much obstacles in korea, but we will still support you no matter what!
and chun….it will take more than the 5 of you to solve this problem because there are also others involved.
personally i just hope that you 5 can be friends again, since that’s what would make you happy 🙂
as long as you are happy, we fans are happy too 🙂
I love their answers. This is one of the aspects I love the most of the new Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu as members of JYJ
So down-to-earth artists, JYJ… Sincere and wise.
They speak so logically. There are no boundaries to how much I admire them.
I hand it to the boys for exposing the SK Ent. Industry’s often hidden, but soft, bulging underbelly.
don’t be hurt anymore….we are always stand by u..we are always support to all of u as much as i can..^^ i love u JAe
Their honesty, humbleness, realistic perception are what set them apart from the rest. It doesn’t surprise me anymore what they decide to do..I trust their hearts in doing the right thing…
