[NEWS/INFO] “Barcelona: Soompi France at JYJ concert”

JYJ in Europe.  A news that delighted the European fans when they knew that their stars have scheduled two dates in Europe to meet them. Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu set fire to the stage at Poble Espanyol in Barcelona on October 29th, 2011 and 8 days later, November 6th, in Berlin. Soompi France went to Barcelona to attend the concert of the three gods of the East. More than 3,000 people from all over Europe came to cheer on the three singers.

French, Spanish, Italian, German, English… All nationalities were present in front of Poble Espanyol. Many Spanish people were surprised to see the long queue that began to form in October 28th (or even before for the more adventurous fans). The fans explained with their heart that they were there for one thing, for one group, and for an event they had waited for so long : JYJ. The fans and enthusiasts counted hours before finding themselves faced with the three singers.  Sleeping [at the venue] or waiting all day didn’t bother them – far from it.  Some answered “I’m desperate to be as close to the stage as possible and see them in the flesh.”

It is emotionally hard for foreign fans as they can only see these stars on the internet from their computer since they are at the other end of the world.  When they materialized in front of the fans, it was a surreal experience.

The day began at 10:45am for JYJ with a press conference. In it were several questions posed by journalists:

Do you consider yourself more as singers or actors?
Kim Junsu took the floor to answer, “We work in various areas: we are singers, and also actors in dramas and in musicals, but our priority is to be singers.  We really want to be considered as such.”

Is it that you were aware of your popularity in Europe?
Jaejoong said, “We knew that the foreign press was talking about us but we were not at all aware of our popularity in Europe. Now we feel more responsible and accountable to the European public that supports us. We will try to come more often and meet our fans. “

With whom did you work with outside Korea? Is it different from a Korean production?
Xiah thought for a moment before speaking: “We have worked with Kanye West, we wanted to try a new genre while keeping sight of our vision of music. We are always looking to diversify. I think if we work with a European artist, there will be new techniques, another way of thinking, a new show.  But we really want to keep our identity. “

You have visited some places in Barcelona, would you like to make a photobook here?
Xiah was very excited upon hearing the question: “It would indeed be a very good project. Next time, why not, it is a country that is very rich culturally. We would be delighted. “

 Doing a concert in Europe, could it open doors for you to enter the European music market?
Yoochun said, “Frankly, our goal with this show is mostly to meet our European fans.  We could enter the European market but for now we limit ourselves to Asia.”

After the press conference, JYJ’s members gave a showcase at “Salon del Manga”. More than 1,000 fans were present and have rushed into the room to see JYJ who would go on stage in a moment. The crowd shouted with all their heart, “JYJ !”. Up until they [JYJ] took the stage, the emotion was high for those fans who had waited for so long before they can see them in the flesh. Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu welcomed the audience and gave a foretaste of the concert, performing “Empty” and “Get Out”.  When they left the stage,they left the crowd so dreamy.

Third appointment with JYJ:  The great concert at Poble Espanyol. Doors opened at 8pm. The concert started at 9pm. In the queue, girls and boys were passionate, bursting with impatience to enter [the concert venue].  And the doors finally opened.  Some were dancing, others singing, while others were trying to rest prior to the concert. The fans exchange experiences and shared enthusiasm for Kpop. Once the concert began, tears flowed for some, others remained open-mouthed before the three artists who appeared on stage.

They opened the concert with the very moving clip of In Heaven and then they came on stage in white suits looking angelic and sang the song “Empty” then led to another song.  The fans were treated to”Ayy Girl”, “Be My Girl”, “Get Out”, “In Heaven”, “Mission”, “I Love You” (Yoochun’s Solo), “I’ll Protect You” (Jaejoong’s solo), and “You Are So Beautiful” (Junsu’s solo).  A show that lasted ~ 2:30, too short according to many. Going back to earth was not easy…

Agathe, (21 years old – French) gave her impression after the concert : “I knew I would not be disappointed… And even if the concert was not so grand, and it was a bit short, they were PERFECT from the beginning to the end and JYJ gave 800%, so I have no regrets!  There is no denying they know how to set the mood!  They also know how to create the atmosphere between them and the fans, without falling into too much fanservice”.

Nadia (19 years old – French) said meanwhile that she felt like a bubble at the beginning of the concert even though she felt a little bad about the wait.  She continues: “there are so many scenes that I liked …. I actually liked everything! ! Seriously I think I broke the record of a person who kept her eyes wide open for so long! ” She then answered the question” What song did you prefer to listen live? “My favorite song live is ‘In heaven’! It was just beautiful! The fanchant was superb! And the music is magical !”

Finally Melanie (28 years old – French) said concerning the fact of seeing them in real life, “Jaejoong has always been special to me and seeing him in real life humbled me. He was true to himself and such a great fun. I appreciate him even more than before. Junsu is absolutely awesome and he is just as good singer as a dancer. One thing for sure is that he can move. But really the surprise of the concert was Micky. I’ve never been too interested in him, but when I saw him, it was “wow”. He has a real presence and has charisma that is indescribable with words. I can tell you that the cameras and the photos do him no honor, you have to see him in real life to understand the charisma of Micky.”

JYJ members hope to be back next year with a new album and new concerts in Europe. They are really touched by the enthusiasm of the Europeans and have been thanking their fans on numerous occasions  during the conference, the showcase, the concert or via Twitter. “Thank You”, “감사 합니다” (thank you in Korean), “Gracias.” By adding proudly, “Besame mucho” (kiss me a lot, first sentence that Yoochun has learned in Spanish). The fans are not ready to forget their encounter with these three Korean artists and they are already anticipating their upcoming concert dates  in Europe.”
