The gang of seven was put before the King for intrusion, while Xiah, as Sir Lionhart, was made their defender, in front of a hundred aristocrats of the Kingdom.
Hero was in awe by the Great Hall when he set foot in, but the other six cats were on guard, looking around meticulously for possible exits and guards. They counted how many guards there were, how many were guarding the entrances, and how many entrances there were in order to figure out which way was the easiest to excape.
The cat maid led Xiah into the Great Hall through another entrance. He was moody, with shy eyes, but he then saw the cats coming in, and he was overwhelmed by their looks. He could tell who they were, but could it be? “LEO, LEON, TIGGER, BAKIRA, PARD, ODD!?” he called, they turned to him and purred, but were held back by the guards and couldn’t run to their master. Xiah however ran forward to them and stopped when he came face to face with Hero. “Who are you?” he asked.
“It’s me, Hero!” he answered, and immediately, Xiah’s arms went across his neck.
“Oh, buddy, where have you been!? I’ve been waiting for you! And Micky?” he asked, looking for Micky in the group.
“Uh…We, kind of lost him,” answered Hero.
“How?” Xiah asked, “And, and, you’re a cat!”
“Yes, I’m a good looking cat!”
And they went on with their exchanges while the King was impatiently waiting. He was very angry, for time was running out.
“OKAY!” he shouted, “Great party! But we don’t have time, and I’m in a hurry. Why don’t you guys start – where are the judges!?” he asked. And all twenty-nine of them popped up from the table on the left side of the Great Hall. the king continued, “These will be the judges, and this is how the rules work, you give me excuses for why you’re trespassing my Kingdom, and if it’s good, you’ll be free, if it’s not…” and he starts to laugh mockingly at them, “Oh, one more thing, the rules change when it comes to people I don’t like, so in order to be free, all twenty-nine of the Justices have to approve your excuse. If one of them says no, then it’s not just yours, but their lives too will be in grave danger,” he said, while threatening the cat justices.
“Okay?” said Leo.
“How about this, we’ll not say anything since whatever we say will be wrong,” advised Bakira, and the others agreed.
“Well,” Hero contemplated, “it’s true that in this case, whatever we say will be wrong, but we can’t just let the chance go with that excuse. Since we’re given a chance, we might as well take it!” he said positively and Xiah agreed, “So, how did you become a cat Xiah?” he asked, completely ignoring what the King was saying.
“I don’t really know, I woke up, and saw cats surrounding me, then I noticed fur all over my body and that’s that,” he answered.
“Why do they call you Sir Lionhart?”
“They said something about the spirit of their leader inside of me, and that he is hiding somewhere in my heart…”
The King was crazily mad when he noticed that the two paid no heed to his threats and the gravity of the situation. “Fine then! If that’s how you want to play, then, Justices!? Take everything they says as excuses!” He ordered.
“Great,” sighed Tigger, “We’re given a chance, and this boy just took it and ran with it.”
“So, why are you here, and as a cat, Hero?” Xiah asked back.
“I don’t know, I woke up and found myself surrounded by cats, and then I noticed fur on my face after I looked into the water. That’s that, I don’t know why I have to be a cat, and I don’t know why I have to come here. It must have been the cats’ plan to take me here, to rescue you.”
“How did you lose Micky on the way?”
“Uh… We were running, then halfway, he went missing. I didn’t know until I woke up in the meadow, so, how do you suppose we’ll get out of this mess?”
The King was tapping his fingers on the arm of his chair impatiently and wondering if the captives were going to keep this up until tomorrow? Time is ticking, he needs it, and he needs it now or never, “Oh, OH COME ON!” he shouted.
“What’s the matter, your highness?” Hero asked.
“What’s the matter? WHAT’S THE MATTER!?” he yelled, “Why! Why are you so calm!?” he asked, “Do you realize what is going on? Do you realize that your life is hanging by a thread? Do you realize that your friends and pets–”
“Did he just call us pets?” asked Jiji.
“Well, we are pets in the human world,” answered Leo.
“Well, you maybe, but I am no one’s pet, I am my own person, I mean cat!” he declared, turning to stare at his master, who had heard the whispering, and was looking at him with big innocent eyes.
The King was now more furious than ever, as the subjects in front of him were disrespecting him, how dare they!? “Alright, if that’s how you want it, then –”
“Your highness! There’s an intruder wishing to see you!” said a guard, interrupting the King’s rant.
“Bring him in!”
And in he came, looking suspiciously at the King, but he was calm and collected.
“Greetings, your Highness,” he lowered his head and bended his body to give a bow.
“MICKY!” shouted Hero and Xiah.
“I am, Sir Yoo from the Kingdom of Lupus, here to deliver a message.”
“What the heck is he talking about?” whispered Hero to Xiah.
“I don’t know, but he looks different, and has a very different air, and the way he talks is so different!”
“Lupus is the Kingdom of the Wolves, yet he looks like a normal boy,” whispered Tigger, but the moment he said so, Micky’s wolf ears popped out.
“EH!?’ shouted Hero and Xiah when they saw his ears.
Micky kept his calm, despite feeling embarrassed, as he cleared his throat and continued.
“The Kingdom of Lupus hereby gives the Kingdom of Felis an ultimatum, release Sir Lionhart, or become suppers for Lupus’ Yule feast!”
“Say boy, if you’re a Lupus, then why are you so small?” asked the King, “I thought Lupus are supposed to be big!?” he laughed.
“I’m a hybrid lupus, sir.” he answered in a calm tone, “I’m a Felis mixed Lupus Yule–”
“A what!?” shouted everyone in the Great Hall.
Micky sighed, “Okay!” he changed his voice, back to normal and quickly explained to them, “I was enchanted by the Yule forest of Felis when I was a normal sized boy, right? So, I went in deeper, and then I gradually grew smaller. Then, there was this snowy-like bird flying in the sky, determined to make me his meal. A wolf ran forward and got me, taking me to the Lupus’s Yule forest. He dug up the root for me to eat and I magically turned into a Lupus, having its’ ears and other attributes, but for some reason I’m still small. After I explained to the Kingdom of Lupus my situation, they pitied me. They wanted to help so they gave me this message and told me to go over to Felis and give it to you. There! Now stop looking at my weird ears and decide what you should do, surrender or be food!”
“Boy, that was one heck of an adventure for you!” remarked Hero.
The cats in the hall were whispering to each other when they heard about the King of Lupus and a white snowy flying bird. Perhaps they’re back, they whispered. Are they really back? A wolf can enter the Felis Yule Forest? And a bird flying over? Wasn’t there a magic border that prevented any other type of animal to enter? If they were to enter, then they would lose their powers.
“SILENCE!” roared the King. He paused for a few seconds after the silence, “An ultimatum? For me?” he laughed, “How dare you? Justices! I take your silence as agreeing that their excuses can’t be trusted. Very well then! They’ll be put into the dungeons and stay there forever, as cats!”
“That’s it?” asked Pard.
“Aren’t I already a cat?” asked Leon.
“I thought he would turn us into mice or chop off our heads, or something, but woohoo, I’m a cat, forever…” Bakira burst into laughter, rolling around on the ground.
“Who made him King?” Jiji asked.
“How should I react? Should I do a dramatic reaction, crying and pleading, rolling on the floor, or just purr monotonously?” asked Tigger.
“I don’t mind, I look amazingly good as a cat,” Hero chipped in, “And hey, if you have the chance in midst of the way to be something else, go for it. And if there is magic in this realm, then there’s a chance for me to turn back to human, or a hybrid Lupus…”
“Shut up!” howled Micky, “It’s not funny.”
“I can talk to my cats… I don’t mind, although, I kind of wish Juno was here too,” said Xiah.
“Guards! Take them away!” ordered the King.
Micky roared at them. Everyone in the Great Hall became silent, the guards frozen, but then they all burst out into laughter.
“Oh my god Micky, please stop,” requested Hero, meanwhile Xiah was rolling on the floor, pounding the pavement and letting out high notes of laughter. Micky was not amused, he sighed, then became more serious as he walked to one of the guards. Micky tackled him, pushed him down, and the angrier he became, the bigger he grew. The place was in hysterics.
“GO MICKY!” shouted his friends, and the six cats pulled out their swords.
“Now is it!” ordered Leo, as more guards came in.
“Catch Sir Lionhart and the Prince!” Ordered the King. And the guards rushed over to Hero and Xiah, but Jiji wouldn’t let them take away his master that easily. He sprinted forward and swiftly and efficiently swiped claw marks on the guard’s face. The King advised his Wizard to do the same as last time. However, this time as the Wizard popped up, Jiji was able to stop him by swiftly inserting a Yule’s fruit into the Wizard’s mouth. He then recited an enchantment. The Wizard became stone.
“NOO!” roared the King. His plan was ruined, but nevertheless, he had thousands upon thousands of guards that would tire out the gang soon enough.
But Micky didn’t come to the Kingdom alone. He made a whistling sound. Harang came charging in, forming into a full Lupus, with armor across his chest and legs, bigger than normal. Then came, mice! Armored with swords, there were many, and the witty little things knew where and when to strike their enemy. In front of Xiah was the King, now taking matters into his own hands. He would do the job himself to capture the three boys. But as soon as he reached out for Xiah’s arm, a light lash went across his face and hit his arm. And out came an armored mouse, wielding a sword longer than his tail.
“I’ll protect you Xiah!” he said.
“Eh? Eh? Do I look like I need protection? Furthermore, from a tiny little thing like you?” asked Xiah. But the little mouse paid no attention to him as he kept his eyes straight on his prize, the King.
“Why you little… Do you know who I am?” asked the King.
“Why yes!” answered the little mouse, “You’re that PSM! President Sewer Man!”
There were gasps everywhere and everyone stopped fighting to look at the King.
He made a small tittering sound while backing away. “Well, whatever, I had fun, so I’ll just take what I want to take and be gone now,” he said then disappeared into thin air.
“Micky!” shouted an elegant looking mouse, “Take the boys with Harang and get out, leave the place to us!” she ordered and Micky immediately jumped onto Harang, pulling the other two members up, along with the cats in string, hanging off from Harang’s tail while he sprinted for the door.
“Where are we going?” Hero asked.
“I don’t know! But if we’re going to the North pole, then we might as well head North!” shouted Micky, instructing Harang to sprint North of Felis.
A moment later, up in the sky, there was a Snowhawk whistling, following them. The hawk slowly dropped down and swooped around them, “Guys, it’s us!” shouted the mouse on the hawk, it was the same one who tried to protect Xiah earlier, “Brother, it’s me! Ricky! And Juno!” he shouted, “Celo wanted us to give you this!” he shouted, throwing them the bag of Yule fruits, “You must eat it before you go out of Felis’ border!” he instructed, and they then flew away.
To be continued…
