In 2011, most of the world’s news spread quickly across the globe thorough various Social Networking Sites.
Those who could not find an outlet to voice their opinions also utilized SNS to express their thoughts and at times, changed the world. These same social networking sites became a gateway of communication between JYJ and their fans.
The three JYJ members Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, and Kim Junsu were once members of the greatest idol group, TVXQ under SM Entertainment but publicly revealed their unfair contracts and became independent.
The three members were once part of the wildly popular group, but suddenly became distant from their fans once creating JYJ. There really was no way for them to properly communicate with their fans.
They desperately needed to build a bridge in order to be able to reach their fans, and SNS became the obvious answer. After leaving TVXQ in July of 2009, JYJ publicly released two albums but it was not easy for the public to have access to their music or their performances.
Due to reasons unknown, the boys are unable to publicly perform on television programs or cable channels. Despite this, the boys sold over 320,000 copies of their two albums released in 2010 and 2011, proving that their fame knows no bounds and fans still highly support their career.
In the past, even famous idol groups such as H.O.T and Sechs Kies who were met with an explosive reaction from fans an routinely sold over a million records didn’t last long.
JYJ has proven to be exactly the opposite, their fame only growing with time, despite being unable to publicly perform on a broadcasting stage.
The best way for JYJ to reach out to their fans is via Twitter. The three of them began utilizing Twitter to connect with the public in October of 2010, a year after they broke away from TVXQ.
JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong (@mjjeje) had 672,205 followers as of January 3rd, 2012- the most out of the three. He has also tweeted the most with 1,030 tweets. This simply means that he is making a conscious effort to consistently communicate with his fans. He also has 20,248 on his “Lists”.
Park Yoochun (@6002theMicky) currently has 531,137 followers with 17,401 ‘Lists’, while Kim Junsu (@0101xiahtic) has 539,037 followers and ’16,777′ lists.
Junsu’s Twitter was unfortunately hacked into late last year and on December 19th, the singer created a new twitter, @1215thexiahtic.
Not even a month after he created his new Twitter page, Junsu had 97,807 followers and is on 2,066 lists.
One follower (@100t****) wrote, “I think the members are being more honest and real than they were when they were with their previous label. Before, they seemed unattainable celebrities but now they seem more approachable; they answer questions and fill fans in on the things fans are curious about.”
It’s much like a reality show, where the JYJ members interact with people they are close with via their Twitter pages, and their fans get to see it happening live.
A Twitter follower and JYJ fan @tr***** wrote, “Fans often forget about even their most favorite idols once they stop making television appearances, but while other celebrities are talking about themselves on TV programs, JYJ updates fans on their whereabouts so it actually makes us feel closer to them.”
“Due to reasons unknown…” huh ?? But we, jyj fans all know the evil behind those reasons.
MTE. “Reasons unknown” indeed. Psh, But I agree w/ the article. SNS have definitely played a major role for JYJ;s careers.
heh, we know about it …
LOL that also make me smirk
Not only us fans know the “unknown” reasons, but media tend to get blinded by this “unknown”
“Due to reasons unknown…” reminds me of “He who must not be named” for Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series and used for the same reason – fear that if you call his name, that he will come after you and attack you.
“Due to reasons unknown” ….actually everybody knows, it is just that those in authorities turn deaf and blind or can hardly catch a visible and concrete proofs of the existence on the invisible hands, or those broadcasting companies have their own self-preserving agenda. Sm influence is so vast but definitely it’s not infinite, in time such influence will weaken and die and that time will be JYJ and fans VICTORY.
NOW JYJ IS IN THE AIR!
BY MEANS OF INTERNET IS THE BEST WAY TO COMPENSATE THE RADIO AND TV BLOCKING ACTION TOWARD JYJ.
JYJ FIGHTING!
THIS IS AWESOME!
A nice well written and balanced article that states the facts and promotes JYJ in a very positive light.
I really like this one.
me too! nicely put. and we do love their efforts to let us in on their doings, even if chunnie must be too busy to let us know much! lol! i think it is just harder for him to do it~
Due to reason unknown? Well that’s the worst explanation I’ve ever heard. We all know who caused it, but I want to forget about that damn *coughSMcough* company for a while n focusing on the article 😀
Indeed, one of the most effective ways to communicate to their fans is by using internet (hello twitter!) I’m really happy the trio have their own twitter account and quite often update their tweets (mm..exept one member. Yes, him..the Y) and it make us feel close to them <333
Is like we can feel and see what they see, especially for ifans like us.
I hope they'll more often on updating their twitters, I know they are busy but spend one minute for tweeting won't hurt right? 😀
P.s: JaeJae was the most active one on twitter (please keep tweeting, Jae xD) , the second is Su and the last is Chunnie. I just realized that Chunnie's tweet not even a half of Junsu's *speechless*

.
while SM thought they could bury JYJ alive by repeating ‘their-LAME-tactic’…LOL

RE: “Social Networking Sites play a huge role in the success of JYJ’s career”
….hrmmmm, my first thought was, “no….working their asses off —► fighting to get on a stage, even after being illegally refused to rent venues right & left —► has played a huge role in their success.”
But after some reflection…I will concede that SNS has helped *us* to be in contact with them as they go through these immense struggles. Some may take issue with what I’m about to say….so I’ll preface with *it’s only my opinion*….JYJ & C-Jes are still a bit ‘lost in the ether-mist’ about just how many options there are to get-the-word-out. They’ve barely dipped a toe in the social networking waters…the number 1 failure is NOT having a youtube channel. I’d bet my front teeth that 90% or MORE of International fans found JYJ/Kpop from YouTube. It is absolutely the best FREE marketing vehicle in the world. The fact that they have not embraced it …befuddles me.
I’ll temper this opinion by saying that it’s clear from numerous statements from JYJ…that they don’t actually see each other that much when they’re not actively engaged in a group promotion. So ~~ until someone on their marketing staff MAKES it a PRIORITY to create a PLAN (not casual tweets) ….they will continue to miss the opportunity to increase their fan base in the thousands. (sigh)
Got no choice but to leave it in their hands…and keep loving them ~ ❤
I agree. I think they are still a bit lost. I appreciate everything they fight for and get to do but that doesn’t mean that us fans shouldn’t be able to see some of the odd things CJeS does at times. They should be far more cautious because some of their slip-ups in the past have affected JYJ. I understand that they aren’t as established as some other companies but that is what the people they hire to run things are there for and by no means am I referring to TV appearances or any of the sort because we all know that for now that is not an option. I mean things like using these SNSs effectively and managing what they can do in a more consice manner.
Hey MIA2 ~ ☼ – re: “I appreciate everything they fight for and get to do but that doesn’t mean that us fans shouldn’t be able to see some of the odd things CJeS does at times.”
Exactly. When I say such things, I’m not directly bashing C-Jes…but rather, commenting on their need to step-it-up.
I know it’s never a popular thing to bring up….but the guys are swiftly getting to military-service-age. I’ve commented several times before…and probably will again…that JYJ’s BEST BET for longevity in their singing careers will be to embed themselves into the International Music community. Western fans embrace their favorite artists ALL the WAY into retirement…I’m talking ages 65 + ~~~.
It’s pretty apparent that Korean artists are considered *over* at age 30 — combine that with the rate/speed at which barely pubescent groups are being pitched out by the Idol factories….JYJ’s time in Asia is expiring. Not so in the West…..So PLEAAAASE let someone in their management have an epiphany SOON. ☆
@sally_b Really agree with you. I appreciate C-JeS a lot because they have had to face head on all the trouble over the last two years, and must have faced so many obstacles they had to fight their way through without anybody knowing. But I still agree with your points.
What this article doesn’t recognize is the huge role the fans play in generating interest in them, like all the posts on Twitter by fans as well as blogs like JYJ3. I think this is in response to the sense that JYJ really care about their fans. We willingly want to do something in return, whether it is running a fansite or just buying their albums. I think both C-JeS and JYJ do a great job of providing lots of fuel for this fire – the end of year Collection cards being one of many examples.
This was why JJ turned my bias… I mean, when they were under SME I loved the five but couldnt have any bias, not at all. When he joined twitter, i really felt closer to him, i mean, like i understood him more and more. Of course Im only a fan and I dont even know him personally but I feel I got to know a lot + about him, i feel so thankful. Even though they still tweet only korean its nice and there’s no way to pay back their effort.
seems like everyone caught on the ‘reasons unknown’.
but, if you think about it, they have to explain it this way outwardly to the public..else how are they gonna phrase everything?
“Due to SME’s hideous lack of self-control, LSM has been desperately cockblocking JYJ’s appearances and activities from Korea to Timbuktu. Yes, the conniving and manipulative ways of SME/LSM indeed.”
