LOTTE Duty Free shop created a joyful meeting between hallyu stars JYJ (Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, and Kim Junsu) and their Japanese fans.
On Janurary 14th at the Dom Art Hall, JYJ held a fanmeeting entitled “2012 LOTTE DFS JYJ in STAR AVENUE”.
Despite the cold weather more than 2,000 fans from all across Japan traveled to Korea to attend this fanmeeting.
‘Enter-tour-ment Marketing” is a tourism business created by LOTTE Duty Free. It combines the words “Tour” and “Entertainment” and serves to hold fanmeets and concerts by Hallyu stars in Korea as a strategy to attract foreign fans to come visit.
A PR representative for LOTTE, Kim Ju-Nam, stated “Enter-tour-ment Marketing is a business in which we create a greater image of Korea in the minds of foreigners by showcasing Hallyu stars. In this way we can help stimulate the travel industry by means of shopping, lodging, and various other tourism activities. 2,000 fans came for this JYJ fanmeeting alone. With the upcoming fanmeetings from Kim Hyun Joong, Jang Geun Suk, and Big Bang, we are expecting a total of 7,000 Japanese fans to visit.”
This fanmeeting, which was held on the 14th, began with a showing of the JYJ LOTTE Duty Free promotional video “So I’m Loving You” and was then followed by a talk show, a mini concert, and letters of thanks. JYJ performed their songs, including “Get Out” and “In Heaven”, and their flawless choreography drew many cheers from the passionate crowd.
Additionally, there were many special events such as a Lucky Draw in which JYJ gave away personal goods such as sweaters and jewelry. This draw was done by selecting a seat number from the audience. The selected fan would go straight to the stage to receive the items as well as take a commemorative picture [with the JYJ member]. Also during the talk show portion of the event, a surprise birthday party was held for members Kim Junsu (who’s birthday is on January 1st) and Kim Jaejoong (January 26th).
The 3-hour-long fanmeeting then concluded with JYJ’s thank you letters. The JYJ members read these letters personally as a thanks to their fans who came to Korea for them.

I think this is one of the reasons why Lotte choose to stick with JYJ right from 2010 and until today, because they knew Japanese fans love JYJ so much and JYJ still the most shining hallyu stars out there
agree
I would love to go to one of their fan meetings but I’m too far away! Happy this fan meeting was a success; if JYJ can’t go to Japanese fans; fans can come to them. This is one way to get around ‘EVIL’ blockers!
This
Awwww 🙂 What a wonderful show of support & love for JYJ! So very nice to see the love all around the world! Wow, what a nice picture! Thankx for the article. ~pamela
I went to this event.
But my impression was something different.
Japanese fans are “cash cow” for Lotte.
We love JYJ. They cannot come to Japan easily, we have no other choice
than taking this opportunity.
A few years ago, we thought it is very nice of Lotte to give us such a chance.
But now….
Maybe it is better for Lotte that JYJ cannot sing in Japan..
We had to visit 2 (two!) Lotte duty free shops and one Korean shop during
the 3 days tour (that was a condition). Of course it was a Lotte’s event, right?
The whole event took max. 2 hrs, songs, chats, and 2 MV which we have
seen more than a hundred times already. If there was no “unplanned” photo
sessions, it would have been only 1hr 20min…
We were happy to see JYJ so closely and hear their Japanese,
but I felt on my way home that we, JYJ and us, were used.
Sorry for negative comments but I just felt sad.
If Lotte keeps doing this way, they will have some difficulties
one of these days, since we, Japanese fans are also not so stupid…
(Oh, one good thing, 100 Korean staffs were busy to take care
of 1600 Japanese fans from Japan. Thank you for your good job.)
I hope you had a great time, and I am sorry that you are a little sad. I saw in another article the JYJ fan meeting was part of a Lotte program that is called Enter-TOUR-ment, which means that it’s a a trip package (shopping, lodging, visiting with Hallyu stars) and other Hallyu stars will be part of it. Here is the article:

I tend to believe that Lotte is not using JYJ or JYJ fans; JYJ is an business partnership with Lotte.
All the best to you.
” JYJ is a business partnership with Lotte”
Yes, therefore I hesitate for a minute to write “JYJ and fans” since JYJ is paid
and we, fans pay which is OK because if we do not want, do not attend to it.
What I wanted to say here was, it is now a bit too far or too much with K-pop biz
especially in Japan.
I know we are lucky fans.
I feel a little sad that you are feeling this way.
But without Lotte organizing these fan meets
Japanese fans would not be able to meet JYJ
And have such wonderful times which us, Ifans
can only spazz on twitter for some ‘live’ updates.
Do you know how many international fans envy Japanese fans
for being able to attend these Lotte fan meets?
Pls don’t feel sad. I hope you feel better now.
You are still very lucky to be able to be in this event
Which we can only dream abt and only read and smile
in front of our computer watching fancams and reading fanaccounts. 🙂
I understand. It would leave a bad taste in my mouth as well if I were paying for an expensive trip to see my favorite music group, and then I was *required* to visit specific stores on top of that. Were you required to make purchases there as well?
It reminds me of those ‘vacation’ packages they advertise here in the States where once you get there, they monopolize all your time making you sit through seminars. T_T
I hope that over time this feeling will fade for you and that you can remember your fanmeet experience fondly.
@cocoperu, congrats to you that you have been able to see JYJ live! After all LOTTE is a “bussiness” entity, which will be focused more on gaining profit. I believe JYJ get their fair payment in this collaboration. I think that it would be great if only Lotte Management someday become kind enough to held a join concert/fanmeet of their representative artists. That way we sure will be given awesome performances not only from JYJ, but also from Hyun Bin, Big Bang, Kim Hyun Joong, etc. That way I’m also sure the money spent will be even worth. Plus, that way, I will be happy because JYJ will not be impressed as if they were avoided by other artist, since there are not many occassions in which JYJ be in the same stage with other artist. Just my opion.
I feel sad reading your story 😦
I don’t know but since Lotte has choose to stick with JYJ from the beginning, I just can hate them, but I do feel sorry about Japanese fans. I guess for Lotte business is still business. It will be easier if JYJ can performs in Japan easily, so JYJ and fans won’t be used in business purpose.
But did you know Japanese is the most lucky fans over other countries? You could see JYJ in flesh often, but us? I still hoping one day I can see and watch JYJ live. I guess there’s plus and minus .
Typo.
I just can’t hate them, but I do feel sorry about Japanese fans
so can Arab fans come or just is for Japanese fans ?
