On February 3, the MCST (Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) announced that JYJ’s Jaejoong will be holding a fan meeting at Turkey’s Ankara University on February 5. He was invited by the Korean Culture Center in Turkey.
According to the MCST, Hallyu has swept into Turkey. The fan meeting will play its part in spreading Hallyu and providing a chance to exchange culture between Turkey and South Korea.
The fan meeting will hold 600 seats and tickets were sold out within 30 minutes.
The Korean Culture Center in Turkey stated, “Within a few hours over 2,000 people logged on to get seats. The Korean Culture Center and Korean Embassy received numerous calls from individuals that did not get a ticket.”
On February 1, Jaejoong’s fan meeting made the first page on a Turkish newspaper.

It’s very nice to keep boasting about Hallyu when JYJ is all over the world, but they can’t be artists in their own country. I am sad and sorry to keep talking about same thing over and over, but it seems that we are going to be talking about this subject for a while.

Jaejoong (JYJ) is invited to represent Hallyu, but they can’t be seen nor perform in SK stages, how can they represent Hallyu?
I will just think like this: “JYJ is too much or just too over qualified to just perform in SK’s stages, they are for international events/acts and stages (this would also explain why they are appointed as goodwill ambassadors for a number of international organization and events). There’s a surplus of performers in SK that make it’s stages too crowded, chaotic and boring,no elemnt of surprise anymore. So just reserve the BEST for global performance, you can’t just mix the BEST with the ordinary ones. JYJ is for most special occasions only. People must be starved for their presence to preserve their high value,(law of supply and demand).”
Now I’m feeling better to think this way, sorry but I’m just appeasing myself .
I look at it this way: People may say Hallyu has spread to ___ (fill in the blank) when it is convenient and looks good but in my mind JYJ are separate from that and instead have started their own ‘wave’ and that is spreading even faster than Hallyu and is 1000000x better in more ways than one. keep spreading that unstoppable JYJ wave! I should think of a cooler name lol

I 100% agree with you. The JYJ Wave is the cool one. The Hallyu Wave is the manufactured, falsely inflated one.

Yes, I remember Charice. She just ended up as runner up for that Little Big star and after that she was left out. No project offered to her, but when she was invited in SKorean show and was spotted by Ellen, and eventually became famous, only then our country became so proud of her and poured project offers but she’s already busy on her international commitments.
yeah the two (charice and JYJ) have different stories but what happened to Charice and whats happening now to JYJ serves one purpose for them to go global as singers…
I totally agree here. I followed Charice from her LBS star days and they let some beautiful boy win. When Charice was offered to appear in Star King, US programs like Ellen and Oprah followed. I think JYJ is the same. They are meant for much bigger things!
BTW, Trivia. Did you all know that Charice was invited to be a trainee after Star King but had to refuse because she had a contract with ABS CBN? I’m glad she didn’t accept. I don’t want her to suffer similar faith as our boys..
Anyway, that said. I have faith that JYJ will become even bigger this year!

GO to Turkey, Jaejoong. Drink in the sheer LOVE that those fans have for you. There is no one there who will block you or undermine your activities. That is ONLY happening in SKorea and the tiny island chain of Japan.
Look on a map. See how SMALL SKorea is in relation to the rest of the world? There are countless countries clamoring for you to come to them! It’s time to broaden your horizons. So many thousands of people all around the world want you. You must let go now of SKorea if the reality there is hurting you this badly. God insists that when one door closes another door opens. There is a silver lining to this rainy day greater than your wildest imaginings.
