[NEWS] JYJ makes Hallyu history in South America
Boy group JYJ, composed of 3 boys, including Kim Jae Joong, Park Yoo Chun, and Kim Jun Su, will hold their first exclusive concert in South America as Korean singers.
JYJ will hold their exclusive concert on March 9 at Teatro Caupolican in Santiago, Chile, and on March 11 at Explanada Sur del Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru.
Both places are well known as venues where huge pop stars have held their concerts. Legendary heavy metal group Korn and X-Japan have held their concerts at Teatro Caupolican and Britney Spears, The Black Eyed Peas, and Avril Lavigne, all held their concerts at Explanada Sur del Estadio Monumental, the second largest football stadium in South America.
B2ST, 4minute, and G.NA from Cube Entertainment recently held their brand concert ‘United Cube’ in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but this is the first exclusive concert for a Korean singer or group.
JYJ is receiving an explosive response in South America and the group is especially popular among people in their teens to their 20s.
Many media outlets from Chile and Peru are paying a lot of attention to JYJ’s exclusive concert.
Media outlets from Chile, including Mega News and La Tecera, reported on JYJ with the title, “The First Korean Concert in South America.” They introduced the group as a world famous boy group who has worked with Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins.
Frecuencia Latina, a major broadcaster from Peru, introduced the group through their new program Punto Final in January with the title, “Pop Coreano en Lima (Korean Singer Comes to Lima).” They also reported on the group’s ticket sales for their concert in Peru.
An anchor for the news program said, “JYJ has an enormous following in Peru. They are very popular on and offline.”

[NEWS] 120306 JYJ’s sasaeng fans copy keys of houses and cause car accidents? ‘Shocking’
After the release of a video on “Life Today” and an audio file by “Dispatch” in regards to JYJ members Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong, a flood of criticism has arisen against sasaeng fans.
Sasaeng fans are fans who follow celebrities’ every move. They not only follow idols’ to their broadcasting companies and beauty parlors, but also to their houses as well. They feel that this is the way they can show their appreciation/dedication to their idols.
However, a recent post from a sasaeng fan on an online community board reveals shocking news.
According to the post, sasaeng fans secretly trespass onto celebrities private properties and attempt to kiss their celebrities on the lips. They even follow their celebrities’ vans by car and cause car accidents. Even more extreme is that they try to get a hold of their celebrities’ social security numbers as well as a copy of their celebrities’ house keys. Last but not least, they even search for their celebrity family’s phone numbers.
[TRANS] 120306 Dissecting JYJ’s Sasaeng fans, the horrific ‘fandom’ that even gives goose bumps.
A sudden stir has recently occured due to an entertainment tabloid’s recent alleged statements of voice recorded evidence of JYJ members Jaejoong and Yoochun using uncalled for/rude language towards sasaeng fans.
JYJ is well known being an idol group that suffers from one of the most relentless sasaeng fans in South Korea. For a while, Kim Jaejoong, especially, has been suffering from a significantly large number of sasaeng fans. It is well known that Kim Jaejoong had been through a lot of distress in the past and had even warned sasaengs many times (via his twitter) that he did not approve of their actions.
How did Sasaeng fan culture come to be? What caused the sasaeng situation with JYJ?
[NEWS] 120306 Han Jimin, “I was thrilled because Park Yoochun is younger.”
It was a ‘jackpot.’
The press conference hall of SBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “the Rooftop Prince” was packed with amazing number of reporters, fans not only from Korea but also from Japan, and ‘Rice wreath’ donated by fans even before one hour.
Reporters who came earlier could get better seats to cover, and reporters who came almost at the time, unfortunately, had to sit at the rear. Because such a large number of reporters came to the press conference, the wireless microphones ran short and reporters even had to share earphones in amity (?) with other reporters next to each other.
The main reason why Chrystal Ball at Jamsil Lotte Hotel at 2:30pm on 5th was the focus of press’s attention was due to two leading stars, Park Yoochun and Han Jimin, of “the Rooftop Prince.” “The Rooftop Prince” became the topic with news that Park Yoochun, a hallyu star as a member of a famous idol group JYJ and as an actor, and Han Jimin, a famous actress with great acting skills, are cast as the leads.
