First lady Kim Yoon-ok will host a music concert and other cultural events for the spouses of foreign leaders attending next week’s Nuclear Security Summit, the organizing committee said Friday.
Seventeen spouses are scheduled to travel to Seoul with heads of state and leaders of international organizations for the global conference slated for Monday and Tuesday, according to the committee.
The summit will be one of the largest international events South Korea has ever hosted. Representatives from 58 nations and four international organizations, including 45 heads of state, are expected to attend.
The spouse program will begin Monday with a visit to the National Museum of Korea in central Seoul to view some of the most cherished Korean historic treasures. Later in the day, the spouses will watch a classical music concert performed by some of the country’s young musical prodigies.
On Tuesday, Kim will invite the spouses to the presidential office for a performance, titled “Queen’s Morning,” which will feature “hanbok,” a traditional Korean costume. A pop music concert by boy band “JYJ” and Korean ballad singer Seong Si-kyung is also scheduled for the same day.
“The program (for the spouses) features an array of traditional Korean culture, classical music and Korean pop culture,” an official at the committee said. “Kim has asked the organizers to focus on introducing K-pop stars and young Korean talents.”

Of course there is no other idol group who can perform at such event: our boys are articulate, humble, smart, polite, they travelled the world, they write their music, and know how to behave politely by with dignity and pride of their country. Seong Si-kyung is also a singer who can translate his music to different audiences.
People in K know what JYJ status in the world is, they are just to coward to stand up to the old farts because there is too much economical rent involved…that’s all that it comes down too, in my perspective–> money $$$.
Anyhow, I believe in JYJ and their strength to rebounce: JS’s musical is a smashing success even though, he is not wildly featured and promoted. YC’s drama is kicking some serious butt, and it’s only the second episode. JJ’s drama is also going to be a smash. So, JYJ fighting! Noona loves you!

It’s another instance of SK needing the boys’ services to present a picture of a true global player, but when it comes time to reciprocate….. where have they been?? @lilibaiyu I have tried so hard in my above comment not to start naming names and say bad things about the society we are speaking about. It hurts me to see how they boys are used and abused over and over again and everyone suddenly suffer from amnesia or total deafness and blindness. This is a well calculated movement to make sure that these three young men are made to suffer, not only because of who they are, but to make sure that others young artists/idols do not dare to do the same. It’s a form of enslavement in the most elaborate way.
I repeat this over and over, but look at the k-drama, look at the k-ent shows, and you see how the culture of fear, of submission and of control plays out. I always ask myself does art imitates life or life imitates art in Korea? Too many things that happen in dramas seem to happen in real life there.

I think: it is a form of CONTINUING ENSLAVEMENT, where the members are technically free of their abusers, but those abusers continue to enforce their merciless vengence upon them from just behind the scenes. And as AFriendOfJYJ has written, the government of SK is complicit in the shunning and defamation because of the economic might of SM and the fact that they are heavy hitters in the whole “Korean Wave” offensive which is currently generating SO MUCH MONEY for and global interest in SK. It’s big, big time subversion of ethical government, folks. It’s MONEY, POWER and Economic Advancement above all else. Welcome to the 21st Century.

They amaze me every day. Because the more closely you look the more desolate their situation seems. And still, they carry on with hope and a lot of fortitude. With good humor and energy. I’m coming late to the discussion. I heart everyone’s feelings about the situation. For me this is not about hurting as it is about resignation. But I also know this societal condition is not going to change anytime soon until the political structure in SK changes. This has to come from the people of the country. The South Korean citizen has to decide he/she wants a change.
As long as the party in power is guided by self-serving politicos, this is likely to be the way things continue in SK. Their government is NOT set up to be a country for ‘the people’. Looking at the structure of the government and how easily it can be manipulated by the ‘ruling business’ types, there really is no other way things can turn out.
Mindsets are some pretty powerful forces to overcome. That is what is at play here. The power structure at the present time does not lend itself to be as open as it should be. Nothing is going to change in SK until there is a shift in power from the ultra-conservatives who currently control it. Governmental policies and decisions made in this environment are likely to remain status quo until more progressive minded leaders are in place.

Exactly, the citizens need to want the change, and we have seen lately a few glimpses of people in SK who are speaking their truth, stand up for what they believe, and go against the wave, sort of speak. We see examples of free speech, we see strikes, we see some journalists exercising some objectivity. I guess like everything else, it takes times, courage, and sacrifice to bring about change.
It’s very interesting how our love for these 3 young men opens up all these discussions. There seem to be a concentrated effort by the powers at be to export the wave to all corners of the world. However, the journalists and internets from all corners of the world will want to see what’s behind the glitter and the sequins.
This is not to say that injustice is not happening in other corners of the world, it does right this very moment.

It is so obvious that JYJ are global superstars. They are the best representatives of South Korea. True ambassadors. I have no doubt that the corrupt network that is trying to stop them, will continue to fail.

How absolutely wonderful this news is! How very proud we all are! To have these “high connections” within the government of their homeland is nothing but advantageous for these very special young men! When Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu were appointed in December 2011 as Honorary Ambassadors of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Summit, I prayed that they would be blessed by being surrounded with many officials who would take an interest in the plight of JYJ with open minds and caring hearts. Very important people that have power within their homeland have taken an interest in the career of Jaejoong, Yoochun & Junsu and will more than likely start researching JYJ as musical artists (if they haven’t already 😉 ) which will lead to so more interest into the plight of JYJ over the past few years. Step by step, as the families and friends of those invited discuss amonst themselves JYJ & their history, these young men will get closer to the freedoms that they so justly deserve. Pushing the door open takes time and patience. Every little baby step keeps adding up. 😉 The strides of these steps are becomming much stronger! Making these influencial connections and fostering them into great personal, as well as bussiness relationships is so important to Jaejoong, Yoochun & Junsu. They are winning by just being the intellegent, sweet and humble souls that we already know them to be~they keep winning just by staying true to themselves and who they are while they keep soldiering through all of the mess they’ve been marching through. Remember that war is made of small battles, and with each victory the fighters do become stronger! Now, as I have said before, is the time for Jaejoong, Yoochun & Junsu to be on “watch” status. They need to rest their bodies, and minds right now, but they very much need to be highly aware & alert right now, too, because the abusers will certainly be planning, if they haven’t already, another attack to counter this fantastic and positive news. Be aware, be alert, and keep your guard up, please! We as fans (by the way, do we fans have an official name?) need to pull together our strength in order to help support.
