i’m having a great day. seems my gloom had ended. since yesterday i read forthcoming activities of Jae regarding drama. today about the exhibition in June. Japan is a big market in Asia, and JYJ have so many fans there. Last year, about 80.000 fans attending their concert in Japan, regardless the cockblocking. Japan’s fans are daebak! And for JYJ, Japan is their second home.

the story is like this. when i attended the recognition rites of my daughter last March 27, this song was played at the program’s end and the students hummed the lyrics. instantly Jae came to mind. He was somewhat like this and i’m too feeling down at him
sis, credit should go to my daughter who did the mold. i selected the pictures at every line. i want to test her skill cu’z she completed her 7th grade with honors, best in computer skills and best in conduct. i’m proud of the last one. mommy is proud! we are of our children, right?

I was checking out his FB page, he’s had hits. It might be a good collab. He’s done a LOT of stuff but it’s been with mostly idol bands that don’t write themselves. Personally I’d have wished for Jae Chong but maybe he’s just not available to them now… Anyway, Steven Lee does look interesting…

Hey There! I was just thinking about you! Yes, I think its a good collab, but holding back enthusiasm because well anything could happen between now and whenever. Wish he had kept it secret OR maybe he has been working with them some time now.. And yeh… he is heavily into the idol genre, so I agree Jae Chong might have better if he were available…might have gotten something notches above the “k-pop norm, that was FRESH!
But, here is what came to me…Lee seems to also be heavily into PUBLISHING..Here is my understanding of a good publisher > a good music publisher seeks out great music and great composers and songwriters, supports composers and songwriters in the creative process, promotes their catalogues across a variety of platforms. For JYJ this is about connecting with someone who has contacts LOTS!
If publishing is really a strength for Lee then it’s a big win for JYJ in terms of their long term careers. What it means is that he’s got tons of connections with potential songwriters that he could source material for JYJ or he may already have songs he sourced that he did not use for other artists that may be a fit for JYJ. See now they can still write a few of their own songs, have a potential source for other material and they can continue to act, perform in musicals and still work as JYJ, without the pressure to write and produce ALL the songs on their next album, in between everything else they need to do to keep a cash flow coming in.
So yes I see this as a gift… keeping my fingers crossed. 🙂

Yeah, I agree with you there – it really does seem like Jae does not want JYJ to have to come up with all the songs for each album. Maybe he’s looking ahead at crowded individual careers and thinking they’ll feel happier just interpreting great songs rather than feeling all the pressure of writing whole albums. Let me just say again, songwriting and creating a great track is NOT easy and it’s not a given that if you sing well you can write great songs and that’s what JYJ needs steady access to – really GREAT songs. OK songs are not going to cut it over the long haul. Maybe Jae looked at what they’ve got so far and just said, “OK we need some outside songs as well.” The bottom line is that it’s a fantastic song–not who wrote it. I’m confident that each of them will have written one or more songs for the next CD but I’m glad to see Jae’s flexibility in adding great writer/producers to the mix too.

EXACTLY! Yes we talked about this before….. Anything they put out now has to be really GREAT, can’t be just average. Right now they need something FRESH. I think working with Steve Lee given his contacts, publishing background along with his songwriting/composing/producing background might very well be a WIN for JYJ. Like I said he can be their source for material a steady stream they can look at all year long. Hey JJ got something for you, or hey Youchun I want you to talk with this lyricist, for that music you wrote. or Junsu here’s a great dance track, maybe you can work on the choreography for the next concert. They have more control this way, more time to really say this is a NATURAL fit as opposed to lets MAKE this a fit, you know what I mean?

Thank you, maejae for your kind words. I was a songwriter, a publisher and a producer of my own work here in L.A. for 20 years so I do know a bit about the nuts and bolts of the art and craft of songwriting. I collaborated with others, nearly always. In fact, I’ve started doing some writing again for several melodic hard rock bands in Sweden – they’ll also be doing several of my previously written songs on their next CD. We’ve just spent the last couple of weeks puzzling out the vagaries of international publishing, licencing and how to get paid, so let me amend my above statement by saying as difficult as it is to write a great song, figuring out your publishing biz and organizing it correctly is even harder! lol
I also, enjoyed A Friend Of JYJ’s comments – but then I always enjoy her comments. I know when she writes something it’s going to be insightful and fascinating. Cheers!

hope international fans who go to korea be careful of sasengs approaches , they come and say i will do this and this and u pay for seat meals etc, like they use them to get front seats and the poor i-fan thinks she’s getting kind help from a stranger , also poor korean fans when u think how they have to face these aggressors on daily account just thinking about them i feel sorry they might always worry from saseng ruining their happy day when they have their happy moment with their star. but if a fan doesn’t walk alone i do not think saseng will approach.
