This is only a guess, but dragons have always had a connection with royalty in Asia. I know that in Chinese tradition, the king and his heir were always symbolically consider as part dragon since dragons are powerful, majestic, and heavenly.
As for the “double” part, I am guessing that the character for prince in Korea might be two dragon symbols put together. That way of making words is not uncommon in Asia either. But again, this are just my guesses.

His name in drama, yong (means dragon) tae yong (dragon) ,hence double dragon.

Oh! I see. That’s very clever of the writer. Yong Tae Yong = Dragon Tae Dragon?, lol. So double dragon. And his Halmoni is called President Yong = dragon president, lol.
And its also true that Kings in Asia are symbolically associated with the dragon. So he’s a dragon as the “Crown Prince” and his name in modern time also means “dragon”, hence “Double Dragon”. I like the nickname already.
