Actually I’ll be very happy if JYJ working with Steven Lee. He is good. He also has worked with a lot KPOP stars.
I like Kanye West, but I will be glad if JYJ working with different producer and songwriter for their new album so it will bring new color for new JYJ’s album.

I’m sure they rent out that studio, and it is new, so it probably has all the new technology. I live in L.A. and there are so many recording studios that people rent out. When JYJ were recording in L.A. I researched it to try to find where they were. Too many to count. Seoul must be like that too.

I’m looking forward to hearing what this guy has come up with for JYJ. I’m not quite as excited as I could be because I am not particularly fond of most of the groups he’s worked with in the past. What I want to hear first and foremost is that he’s brought his “A” material – that he’s treating JYJ as a serious artist that he’s gotta bring his best songs to. I didn’t hear that on “The Beginning.” But I still view this as a hopeful sign, mostly because it means that SM cannot intimidate ALL great producer/writers with established track records of hits from working with JYJ.

Like you, I view this as a hopeful sign as well. Praise be that someone in the music industry will stand up against SM. I too, hope that he brings his “A” material (why does that make me think of Aziatix? 😉 ) and treats JYJ as the serious and vastly talented artists they are. They deserve and have earned only the best.

Probably because of Aziatix’s song “A Game.” lol And that’s exactly what I’m talking about. They need to be working with guys who KNOW WHO THEY ARE and who bring their best stuff to the writing/listening session because they are excited to work with them.
I didn’t get that from the guys who worked on ‘The Beginning” – to me it sounded like a Payday Gig and while the songs were good, because all of those writer/producers are really good, I’ve always thought the songs could have been better if the guys really knew who JYJ was and what they were capable of. And by PayDay gig, btw I mean one of those projects a producer accepts first of all for the money, because all producers need to keep busy and making money and remember, producers get paid up-front as opposed to songwriters who have to wait between 2-5 years to ever start seeing money.

Goooood question. Closest we’ve been able to figure it: Because that’s how everyone does it. And it is disheartening. If a song is a huge hit you can often get an advance against royalties from a big publisher, but that’s all it is–an advance. They then collect for you. You can go in later and renegotiate that, too. EVERYTHING is negotiable. That’s why the situation in SK is so perplexing to western minds in the entertainment biz. JYJ worked their asses off for 7 years straight, were phenomenally successful and never asked for or got one change in the terms of their deal. When they finally did ask, after making the company millions upon millions of dollars, the company said “NO” and threatened to ruin them if they left, which of course they’ve been trying to do ever since. In the U.S., everyone understands that everybody renegotiates and gets better terms after every success milestone is passed – it’s a total given. ALL those smash albums DBSK released and they still got…. nothing.

Ouch! I can’t think of any other work that gets paid so long after the goods or services are delivered. I know all about renegotiation as we’ve occasionally encountered it in my husband’s work Sometimes it’s take what you can get or get nothing at all even when the price was previously agreed upon. This is where placing a lien on the job ensures you get something if the funds dry up before completion.
In other areas, renegotiation is plus when you’ve done well, music, entertainment, sports, etc. so I understand when you say “western minds” find it perplexing that the SK entertainment industry operates the way it does. JYJ absolutely deserves everything they earn and more after so many years of servitude and deprivation.
Yeah, as eljay said that studio is what JYJ purchased last year =)

Thought about it: YES. Wished I could: definitely! But here’s the problem – English lyrics would have to be completely re-written in Korean to get them to rhyme. There could be no simple translation possible. That’s a big drawback…
OMYGOD..OMYGOD….could it be JYJ/Jaejoong + KIM HYUN JOONG???hope so……..before this jae joong and KHJ have been said they want to work together for fans…..
Honestly, i dont think Hyun Joong is a good singer, just ordinary compare to the great Jae.
I prefer Jae stick with JYJ or just do solo.
yes..he is an ordinary and dont have powerful,amazing and undeniable voice like junsu jaejoong…but JJ n KHJ just want to collaborate for fun and fans..not to show their vocal talent..it is just for us–>fans that supporting their friendship from the beginning…and i learned JYJ from him……
oh, i am sorry, if i sounded i offended KHJ. KHJ must be special for you if he opened a way for you to know JYJ 🙂

it’ll be great if JYJ can work with different prestigious music producer, you know, to add new touch to their overall music besides their self-written songs. I hope their next album will kick it up a notch. But this man didn’t mention anything about working with JYJ, he might just rent C-JeS studio for some recordings. I may expect but I don’t wanna start speculating.

i think he’s probably using the studio to work on other’s songs. hementioned in his tweets that he’s been in meetings with dsp, b2m…. maybe the new boyband from dsp and young saeng in b2m…
