im playing truant again from my meetings
needs Junsu’s explosive energy to sustain,
ok got to go back now b4 they notice, see yah!
¡Hey lovely friend! While you’re attending your “interesting” meetings LOL, I’m falling asleep so I can’t read right now as well. I have to save the reading too. Maybe I will have a wild Junsu-dream tonight 😉
Reblogged this on My Blog and commented:
there are many review now….must read it now ^^
“As David Bowie and Prince taught us, if you do androgyny then you better own it, and Junsu does and then some.” The Prophet Blog
That’s my favourite line. 😀 And someone FINALLY mentioned Bowie!
2 REVIEW ARE NEGATIVE;THE OTHER ARE POSITIVE!E PEOPLE NOT BE NEVER HAPPY!
WANT TOO!
Ahhh i hope you’d put it up to the top current post whneever you add the reviews.. if not, we will not notice it.. thank you
Lol…..two of those reviewers gave negative marks based on sexuality….
One of them ranked Infinite’s album above this one =____=
Infinite has better songs….
Also the author gave BigBang a 5/5……..
Overall it seems that international reviewers have even been pulled into the ‘no real sexuality in kpop’ and so feel uncomfortable when seeing it. I may be biased….but as a fan of JYJ…..I can honestly say that I have never liked a Junsu solo or a Junsu composition before this album came out….
This album is good.
that one reviewer gave 5/5 for tarantallegra as a single
@JJ=oxygen..
“…Lol…..two of those reviewers gave negative marks based on sexuality….”
Hmmm which of the reviews besides SoeulBeats gave negative marks for sexuality? From my read only SeoulBeats did.
Which other reviewer? Somehow I missed that…
The reviewer you said rated Infinite’s and Big Bang above Xia.. well yes she gave a higher rating BUT she did not indicate in her review that she was doing a ranking of these three albums by comparing them to each other. She did not group them all together say on list and then rate the best out of the three through a comparative review. She made NO COMPARISON between those Boy Band Group Albums to this Solo Album. Her score was a stand alone score and that makes a big difference when one talks about scoring, especially since you said she ranked the albums against each other when clearly she didn’t.
And also I read her comments several times and she never said Infinite had better songs… or is that just your opinion… which of course you are very welcome to. 🙂
But I am glad that even though you’ve never enjoyed Junsu’s solos or any of his compositions… he has at last manged to win you over. 🙂
I knew it..i should not reading people comment there..as Jaejoong fans this is make me sad..i don’t understand why they should saying something unnecessary things like that about JJ in junsu review album… just because he didn’t have a solo project when yooSu do that doesnt mean he is unproductive and useless.sigh..
I agree with you.. It hurts me too to read such comments downgrading JaeJae like that…I mean this is Junsu’s album review so just comment on that album no need to bring down JJ..I am Jae-biased but I also LOVE Junsu & Yoochun..but i just don’t understand what’s JJ’s so-called “bad-surgery” got to do with Junsu’s album..
And it also hurts me to read some negative comments regarding Junsu’s album and MV saying its boring, amateur-ish, gay-ish etc..etc..constructive criticism i can accept but not those that destructive criticism..
Being a fan of JYJ since their DBSK-era for 8 years now I should have learnt not to read comments..lol..
Anyhow, I am pleased and satisfied with the MV and the album..Junsu Hwaiting! JYJ Hwaiting!
This album is ‘Junsu’, and even though people say it is not perfect, it is still ‘Junsu’… so it is very acceptable. How to please everyone’s taste, all at once right? There is no one in the world that can come up with a perfect song and album to fit everyone. Junsu is good, and that’s all there is.
Props to Lylis!!! Well-done analysis ^_^

LOL That review was just….no. Heh 😀
And not because it was negative or anything it was just…the writing. Urgh.
This comment under it was the treasure. Blew it out the water.

Add me to the list of those who liked the song and the MV. For one it goes beyond the typical uniformity and conformity so prevalent in today’s Kpop. It was like a giant IDGAF; I will do what I want. Personally, I respect that so much. We are always complaining that everyone looks and sounds the same in Kpop. Well no one is going to be making that mistake with this MV.
What I find so funny is the blatant homophobia that some have been throwing around since the teaser and MV was released. Hello this is Kpop, an industry were grown ass men are encouraged to do fan service and “aegyo”. To hammer in the point that the stupid comments don’t bother him, what did Junsu do, he tweeted a picture of himself in drag. Oh so naughty ;). This is artistic freedom; the ability to express your opinions in a manner you choose, without worrying about some big brother business minded entertainment company slave shackle.
About the music, I like Aziatic so I wasn’t bothered by the rap. At least it was actual rap, not that nonsense that a lot of idol rappers do. The autotune also didn’t bother me, because we all know Junsu can sing. In this case, the autotune is not a cover up as is the case with a lot of singers today, whether western or Kpop.
Some say the MV was erotic/homoerotic, I say it was sexual – potato, potarto. The idea behind the MV was to question the limits and labels societies places on all of us, hence the women took on the masculine/tough persona and the men, the more feminine role.
LOL, I can’t believe I typed so much. I guess I have been holding in my thoughts since the MV came out. But as a whole, I liked that Junsu did not follow convention and released a ballad, like many were expecting from him. Just because he can belt out the high notes, doesn’t mean he should do it on every song.
but i thought it’s fine… for asianjunkie standard. sure it’s annoying, but for a non-fan, the writer is actually impressed and like it though it look he/she tried hard to hate it. and lots of reader just can’t deny the hotness and the charm. yay junsu yay! xD
” but for a non-fan, the writer is actually impressed ”
this is the pint of the MV it is made for everyone , remember these views are based mostly on the images in the video not the music , it means at some point the writer did find at least an image to her liking because nu-conciously it reflected a fraction of her own attitude or nature but most people do not know why they like something but they do like it and hang on to it because deep within them they do agree to it , its something they would do or something reflecting a portion of themselves seeing the other share such a thing with him her , in other words there is something agreeable something they were overwhelmed with while being bewildered with the other images but not all people who viewed the MV is like that at all ” accepting only with one or two or most images in the MV there are fas who accept all images in the MV i bet u all the Japanese fans accept all the visuals in the MV because Japanese have this culture obsessed with beauty and it shows in their own local music and anime etc Google Gacket Malice Mizer or Klaha who also wore black nail polish and black lipstick google mana who dresses in a noble dress and he is man yet he is one of the most loved and popular star in Japan , look at the legend X Japan how they style their hair long and wear lipstick , such a nation accept all the images in the Tarantallegra MV , however those who are not ” some if not a lot of international fans ” had been either too shy to admit they like what they saw or not accustomed to what they saw they want to see what they expect to see because that is the norm for them or some don’t know from which angle to look for they forget this MV don’t appear on TV it is entertainment a fantasy a chance to play out all those trying out how i look wearing this and that haven’t u ever wanted to dye ur hair blue for example but u can not because of the possible bullying u know u’ll get if u dye ur hair blue , the thing is u search for an opening to relive those fantasies getting them out and satisfying that curiosity reasonably , so people like Junsu do that cosplay even and for Junsu its the MV its a chance and expected to look not ur normal or accustomed to others eyes image. the MV i read the trans also speaks of restriction and humans all want freedom not to be restricted by others , the trans didn’t say this exactly but u can get the underlined meaning around such a message. i somehow figured , aren’t u sick of everything being controlled by them , we all don’t want to be controlled and restricted by someone telling u how to behave and act etc the MV addresses everyone regarding certain points all humans agree on no matter how different we look or weather we are man or woman we are all human and share etc together. its an expression the MV is an expression , it could be Junsu’s expressing himself. personally i don’t like it when people go i don’t like her earings i don’t like her hair style she looks blah blah , this is what happened to Junsu some fans speak of his clothes and hair style and behavior and etc everything about him is criticized by international fans then they go i still support him this is i love u but hurt u with my words i don’t like it , if u love someone u don’t express ur displeasure with their looks and attitude it is really painful for me to read such comments why can’t they hold their tongue and speak of what they do like about him. would any of them girls like it if their boyfriend started saying i don’t like ur look and ur behavior this is SME treatment of the singer forcing the singer to act and look according to fans pleasure and like , but remember SME bans singers to force them obey like dogs , underpays them and only pays for the album sales they make deducting shows and other activities that gain the company profits , and only if the sales reach a certain number to they ever get paid and when they do , just like Yoochun said in Pierrot , its taken out of his paychek not to mention long term service to the company under such poor suffocating conditions and massacring the singer’s creative mind by too much restriction and dictation . is just because other singers know the result is ofeccial ban from the music scene that they can’t risk it. not after what happened to Hot and now JYJ this ban is terrifying singers from speaking out and demanding rights from the courts. because their right to be in the music scene is not going to be given even if the court said they could the local media would never give them recognition without SME the company that tells the singer how to dress appear and act etc so the fan don’t go i don’t like . i hurt cause i am Junsu’s fans and i love everything about him , when someone announces their displeasure with his looks and etc anything of him i feel real angry cause i can just decide to say i don’t like how she styles her hair her taste in clothes and i keep telling the world all that about her how i don’t like her like that etc taking behind her back her back hurting the feelings of her friends or sisters or daughter. if someone can not say something supportive or nice or positive they really shouldn’t say anything i am not asking them to lie just when u do find something supportive and positive to say about then that is when they do speak.
the album review is much better: http://www.asianjunkie.com/2012/05/review-album-jyjs-junsu-tarantallegra/
it’s blunt, typical asianjunkie, but nevertheless it’s not bad.
seoulbeats album review: http://seoulbeats.com/2012/05/jinxed-by-junsu-junsus-tarantallegra/
there’s also a single review by popreviewsnow, i think it’s great.
and i also think this fan review is good: http://hyesmemories.wordpress.com/2012/05/17/music-review-xia-junsu-tarantallegra-album-review/
Thank you for compiling the reviews~ ^^
who cares about the review. the most important thing is the majority of people like the songs fans or not of jyj. sometimes their review is base on their personal view of the artist if they like them or not so i really dont care for me i really love this album its not because im a fan of jyj but because all tracks is well done… two thumbs up
I wouldn’t worry much about negative reviews. Of course, positive reviews help.
I kind of anticipated probably half of non-fan viewers of Tarantallegra MV would hate it. But, Junsu wins me over this time. I am very pleased to see that he has the guts to challenge all the stereotypes in music, gender roles, and fundamentally humanity. When he set such a big goal, most of the criteria used to judge or review music won’t probably apply. My question for Junsu is: what is your answer/solution to the things you challenge? I don’t expect his answer now since it is a life-long search.
Re the album and music production, I agree that Junsu (and JYJ) still has a long way to go. An objective review seems to only consider music per se. Well, it is also unfair to judge music (or other things) net of other factors. Being cockblocked by the whole industry in Korea and Japan, when have they been ever given fair access to external resources like collaboration (I am only talking about production)?
Junsu-ya, I am very PROUD of you.
exactly my thought. before, i’d complained about the ‘rawness’ and ‘amateurish’ production of ‘in heaven’ before i realized that it’d be hard for them to get first rated producers or song writers with their situation currently. i’m happy that junsu collaborated with korea artists too now… esp gaeko!!! next time please get his boss, tiger jk, and his wife, yoon mirae, for jyj album too~~ xD
thanks for the link
the latest review is exactly my thought of the album! i also felt track #9/#11 is a bit out of place…? but like the reviewer, i also love the tracks flow. thanks for sharing!
it’s late but i came across this interesting review just now: http://www.unitedkpop.com/2012/06/02/unitedkpop-review-week-11-tarantallegra/
