[COLUMN] 120812 The Breakdown in Mediation of JYJ and SM – Can Age of Oppression Come to an End?
[Medias] The legal dispute between SM and JYJ which has been dragged for 3 years is due to finish in September. In fact, the details that the both parties have argued are mutual agreement in arbitration (mediation). The word ‘mutual agreement’ seems to be significant at this moment because the court already ruled in JYJ’s favour regarding the dispute about their exclusive contract.
In 2009, JYJ applied for injunction to terminate the validity of exclusive contract against SM and SM filed a lawsuit to verify the validity of exclusive contract and compensation for damages the next year[Translators Note: SM’s lawsuit finished its all hearings in May 2012 so it is due to be ruled together in September.] However, JYJ also filed a lawsuit to verify invalidity of exclusive contract so their legal disputes have been continued for 3 years.
It looks like the lawsuit is remaining unresolved at first glance, but the court already rejected not only SM’s objection against JYJ but also SM’s injunction to terminate exclusive contract (between JYJ and C-JeS Entertainment). In addition to these, the court also ruled that SM cannot interfere JYJ’s independent entertainment activities. Of course, it is an open secret that SM interfered JYJ’s media appearances despite of the court’s decision.
JYJ’s injunction insisting ‘we would like to be freed from the unfair contract’s fetters’ was partly accepted as a result. The court recognised that the exclusive contract which SM made with JYJ was an unfair contract. Which means, the most significant dispute whether it is an unfair contract or not has already been decided by the court: it is the unfair contract.
The court made clear that their exclusive contract was unfair, but separated its judgement regarding profit sharing parts for the process of the lawsuit in merit and tried to induce the both parties to reach mutual agreement. This means that the both parties now only have disputes regarding profit sharing. Now the remaining issue in the relationship between JYJ and SM is that an agreement in the profit which JYJ did not receive from the period of their activities in Japan.

Q: Did you become close with your co-stars?
A: I became close with JYJ’s Jaejoong and Beom-soo hyung. I was in an action movie with Beom-Su hyung. It was great that we got to meet 10 years later to co-star in this. As for Jaejoong, he seemed to have worried a lot as he was transforming himself from a singer to an actor. He also seems to have passion as an actor. I gave Jaejoong a lot of advices. Telling him good things, wanting to be of help. Then we’ve become close.

Watch the First MV Teaser for Kim Junsu’s ‘Uncommitted’
The first music video teaser for Kim Junsu’sUncommitted was released on August 14 on YouTube.
Despite being a short video, the teaser is already showing explosive popularity with netizens commenting on the charisma between Kim Junsu and the unidentified girl with him, as well as his smooth vocals in the track.
The video’s description says, “This music video is showing delicate feelings of a man who swears he′d love only one girl. In this first MV teaser, you can see what “UNCOMMITTED”means through actor′s eyes. He(XIA) thinks about another girl even he is with his girl friend.. she just wants to believe his pure love. Who is “UNCOMMITTED” in this music video? Is she saying this word to him? Or Is he saying this word to himself? “
C-Jes Entertainment shared upon the upcoming second teaser saying, “The first teaser showed the song’s feel and a visual to reflect it and the upcoming second teaser will show a wide range of cuts to preview the music video’s story in a 40 second video.”
The music video for Uncommitted drops on August 17.

[NEWS] 120813 Nintendo Korea to hold Mario Kart 7 event with JYJ
600 people will be selected to play Mario Kart 7 with JYJ.
Nintendo Korea (www.nintendo.co.kr) announced that the event would be held at Yonsei University’s Centennial Memorial Concert Hall on Aug. 19.
Mario Kart 7 is a software that is specially designed for use with Nintendo 3Ds. A total of 600 participants will be able to personally meet JYJ, the campaign models. These participants include all 500 people who successfully pass the preliminary rounds and 100 people that are selected from those who fail to qualify.
Round of 32 participants will complete in the round of 16 and the final round at the event. Each of these participants will also get to play Mario Kart 7 with JYJ’s Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu.
On the actual day, 8 participants will also be chosen to play Mario Kart 7 and balloon battle with JYJ. There will be various programs during the event, including a talkshow with JYJ.
