I guess once you’ve heard the complex and gorgeous voices of singers like Jaejoong and Junsu, you can’t really go to a voice like this and be too excited. The song is great though. and I really like the production too. Very nice track. All day long I kept getting links to Jaejoong’s 1:17 version of this song and I couldn’t figure out what that was about… Still, I’m really looking forward to having a look at the video, needless to say…

I agree. Baek Seung Heon is a rookie artist and he will have a lot to learn, so it’s a safe bet for him to sing it this way, like any idol would sing a pop song. Only experienced singers like JYJ can pull off an acoustic or acapella version of the song, unless someone is a very talented rookie with strong vocal. Jaejoong’s version really triumphs it all. I can’t stop listening to it.

And make no mistake, there are a LOT of madly talented vocalists in SK who simply are not “idol singers.” Unless I’m mistaken, this is a category completely made up by the big entertainment companies to further monopolize the publicity mill/airwaves/TV shows and everything else in the mainstream mass communications machine in SK for their groups. It’s big-time sleazy and I’m loathe to support it much. Most of the artists I listen to are outside the “idol” category and so of course they too are rarely seen on TV shows, etc. But they’re great and they more than deserve an audience.
The members of JYJ appear to be a kind of hybrid of the two. Not exactly “idol singers” anymore (especially according to SM) but definitely not struggling, nobody-much-ever-gets-to-hear-of-these-guys indie artists either. They are unique – they are JYJ and members. Now of course, in addition to their work as a group they must each be taken seriously as solo artists. Actually, I swore he’d never do it so soon because I think Jae relies on his members for so much but now it appears Jaejoong will finally begin to seriously consider releasing a solo album. My guess is that even TODAY when we got first word of it being a real possibility, it has already pre-sold a million units in the minds of fans.

@lilibaiyu …what you said is true. I have the same thought. Normal voice like any other new singer. Not singing with full emotion or soul . Telling myself, only our Chunnie, JJ and Junsu are capable to feel and sing their songs well and capture listeners minds and hearts. Quite good looking though, so maybe his looks will get him more fangals! But JJ is really good at composing love ballads.

I like it when Jaejoong writes lyrics about love. It’s the kind of tender, longing, protective, and even a bit possessive love. There’s a small mistake in English but overall, the song is good. Jae seemingly wants to be a daddy already. XD

Yes, I agree with you, Jae shows an interesting side of himself when he writes lyrics. Now admittedly, it may be a side of his personality called “his unlived life” – in other words, it may be a part of him he can express and explore no other way because he is not willing or able to feel these feelings in his real life. This is what is so interesting about writing lyrics. You can feel and write passionately about things you have not actually experienced first hand by using your imagination, your sense memory and your flair with language.
