MBC’s Wednesday-Thursday series Missing You will be dubbed in English.
On November 28, an official for MBC said, “The series will be dubbed into English. Voice actors will dub the series at a local studio in the United States.”
According to the official, MBC Global Business team is in charge of the dubbing project and they thought that the series will be popular in foreign countries. They haven’t set the exact date for the recording but they will arrange the date considering the conditions.
An official for the series says, “K-pop is popular in the world and that has raised interest in Korean cultural content. We think that the series is very promising and we want to sell it to the United States and Europe.”
The series is a classical melodrama about a man and woman who have wounded hearts from their first love. Child actor and actress Yeo Jin Goo and Kim So Hyun and adult actors and actress Park Yoo Chun, Yoo Seung Ho, and Yoon Eun Hye are receiving many favorable reviews through the series.

WOW! Congrats Yoochun, your acting is getting known internationally. It’s good for the US people tho since the viki channel for i miss you is not available in the US & Canada lol
We have other sites in the U.S. – I’m watching it on Drama Fever. Between Viki and Drama Fever, we get most of the dramas available. About the dubbing, I don’t think I would like it without Yoochun’s real voice – I don’t mind reading the subtitles. But, if it sells, then I’m for it, for their benefit.
Yes there are different site where we could watch it online. I live in Canada & it sucks that I am not able to watch it on Viki, for me Viki is the fastest & easiest site I could watch K-Dramas, however I have not tried Drama Fever yet, I might check it out, thank you.
About the dub, yes it would give us a different feeling when we watch it without their original voices, I tried watching those that were dubbed in “Tagalog/Filipino” I find them cheesy lol that’s why I always preferred reading the subs.
u can try good drama too… they’re re-upload vid from viki i think 🙂
@lorrianita
I hope someone will invite him to USA to do a movie, just like Rain. He will surely make it big there. JYJ is already known for their worldwide album “The Beginning” which it climbed to no.5 on Billboard. That’s a great achievement. Now, I want to see him in action as James Bond of Asia!!! Imagining him in suits and action with a gun….so sexy….Hahahahahaha
Hulu is working in conjunction with dramafever. Which I like because it a legal and safe way of watching the drama while supporting Yoochun et al though an official channel. The only downside is there are a lot of commericals! lol
Hulu recently added “Protect the Boss” as while, which was previously only available on netflix.
i hope yoochun will do voice over in english. His english is not bad i think,
@sari
Absolutely agree with you! Chunnie’s voice is deep and sexy. His English is good, if you have heard him in Ripley and in live interviews in English…you will melt..trust me. Dubbing using other actor’s voice will not give you the feel and actually sounds awkward when you are trying to match his face to the voice..haha ..
yes.. it will be nice if we can hear yoochun voices than dubbing >,<
Stupid tv stations..let them promote this drama after this!
Well this is interesting news. Nice to know people are taking interest internationally. Still I can’t imagine another voice coming out of Chunnie’s mouth.
Want subs rather than dubs!!! Who wants to Not hear Park Yoochun’s sexy voice? I don’t care about the others but PYC can dub his own voice in English then.
I know right? I totally want Yoochun to speak. It would be weird to have a different actor, but I think they are trying to turn on non-Korean drama fans who don’t want to read subtitles all the time.
Good strategy, right direction. Support!
Dubs…eeewww. Please no. Subs are way better. The voices of the original actors makes more sense. I can’t even imagine how they will destroy the flavor of the drama. Oh my.
I waited for a dubbed version of the Spanish movie, “Like Water For Chocolate”, to come on my cable TV, I paid for it. I video taped it for later viewing. When I went to watch it, after the first 5 minutes turned it off. I do not lie, the actors had Southern California surfer accents. My mouth dropped wide open. To this day I have not tried to watch the damn thing again. Oh please don’t destroy this.
Hahaha! You had me ROTFLMAO! LOL
You would really be on the floor if you heard that hot mess! It was dreadful! 😦
@BAF
Haha..I’m with u..Don’t really like it too..My country also did the same but after watched it, I can’t feel 100% their story..But still curious how it will be after dubbed in Eng..It doesn’t matter if they use their ori voice rite..Anyway, still proud of it because they have confident to sell this drama in europe n US…
I still have that dubbed version of “Like Water For Chocolate” too!!! Thank goodness I actually saw the movie in all it’s glory (with english subs) in a movie theater first. The dubbed version is not the same. I got the subbed version too later on. PYC has got himself some sexy voice…Why get rid of that? Not only that, it’s not the same to watch dubbed movies with words not matching the mouth perfectly…ewww. But do understand that some people do not want movies with subtitles. Like my husband who said “I want to watch a movie, not read it.” He just doesnt understand;)
I may try and obtain the subbed version. I love period Spanish language shows. I just could not bring myself to ever go back to that dubbing one.
@butterfliesarefree2
Absolutely my first thought too…I’ve seen some anime where the dubbing was terrible!! I just hope they will have real actors dubbing this show.
To be honest, the only time I don’t have an issue with dubbing is when I’m watching telenovelas from Brazil on Spanish language stations here in the U.S. They are dubbed in Spanish, so I don’t have access to the original Brazilian actors’ real voices. But since I can understand enough Spanish to watch, it’s not an issue for me. But the English dubbing for the movie sucked to high heaven. I can only shudder at what they will do to IMY for American television.
In my area we have a public access station that shows Korean dramas, mostly from KBS. They are always subbed. This is how I got hooked on Kdramas. Public TV nerds are not hard to please. We also have an International Film festival here every year, so subbed movies is not unheard of.
I so dread what they will do. I just don’t want the drama to lose it’s appeal because of this. So far, I have not been disappointed in the production.
I prefer subs than dubs..!! Chunnie sexy voice is to die for!!
but they wont be able to hear YooCHun sexy voice then…
for me, i prefer subbed than dubbed. it was Korean Languange, esp the intonation of their words that made me fallen for SOuth Korea back in 2001-2002 =)
NOOOOOO!!!! Sub not dub!!! I want to hear the actors true voices, and I love to hear Korean spoken by native speakers; a big part of why I watch Kdramas besides the story content!!!!!
totally agree with you. I prefer subs…you can feel the emotions more in Korean though I hardly understand a word hahaha
Even though I support the best for his drama… I have honestly NEVER liked dubbed things. I’d rather hear their actual voices with subs rather than some random dude. =_=
edit: Unless Yoochun dubs his own voice…I mean Yoochun’s English isn’t bad. He can pronounce correctly with a slight accent, as long as the script/words are given, like his English speech in “Miss Ripley” drama.
I read this article and then the posts. I was happy to see that you guys agree with me. I would prefer to listen to the original with subs. I love the voices of JYJ. I want to hear them. Not the voices of some actor here is the states who cannot even come close to conveying the emotions that you can hear in the voices of Yoochun, Jaejoong and Junsu. I fell in love with their voices before I even saw their faces. I want to hear their voices.
When I hear about dubbing I immediately think of old Godzilla moves where the voice never match up with the mouth movement. I really hope they don’t. I will continue to watch it in Korean with my English subs
