According to Movie Naver, these are the Top 5 Movie Recommendations by Kim Jaejoong:
1) Life Is Beautiful:
Life Is Beautiful (Italian: La vita è bella) is a 1997 Italian tragicomedy drama film directed by and starring Roberto Benigni. Benigni plays Guido Orefice, a Jewish Italian book keeper, who must employ his fertile imagination to shield his son from the horrors of internment in a Nazi concentration camp. Part of the film came from Benigni’s own family history; before his birth Roberto’s father had survived three years of internment at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The film was a critical and financial success, winning Benigni the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 71st Academy Awards as well as the Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. 2) Titanic
Titanic is a 1997 American epic romantic disaster film directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage.
Cameron’s inspiration for the film was predicated on his fascination with shipwrecks; he wanted to convey the emotional message of the tragedy, and felt that a love story interspersed with the human loss would be essential to achieving this. Production on the film began in 1995, when Cameron shot footage of the actual Titanic wreck. The modern scenes were shot on board the Akademik Mstislav Keldysh, which Cameron had used as a base when filming the wreck. A reconstruction of the Titanic was built at Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, and scale models andcomputer-generated imagery were also used to recreate the sinking. The film was partially funded by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox, and, at the time, was the most expensive film ever made, with an estimated budget of $200 million.
Upon its release on December 19, 1997, the film achieved critical and commercial success. Nominated for fourteen Academy Awards, it won eleven, including the awards for Best Picture and Best Director, tying Ben Hur (1959) for most Oscars won by a single film. With an initial worldwide gross of over $1.84 billion, it was the first film to reach the billion-dollar mark. It remained the highest-grossing film of all time since 1998, until Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar surpassed its gross in 2010. A 3D version of the film, released on April 4, 2012 (often billed as Titanic 3D), to commemorate the centenary of the sinking of the ship, earned it an additional $343 million worldwide, which pushed Titanic’s worldwide total to $2.18 billion. It became the second film to gross more than $2 billion worldwide (the first being Avatar). [More Info here]

Saving Private Ryan is a 1998 American epic war film set during and following the invasion of Normandy in World War II. It was directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Robert Rodat. Noted for its graphic and realistic portrayal of war, the film is especially notable for the intensity of its opening 27 minutes, which depicts the Omaha Beach assault of June 6, 1944. Afterwards, it follows United States Army Rangers Captain John H. Miller (played by Tom Hanks) and seven other soldiers (Tom Sizemore, Edward Burns, Barry Pepper, Vin Diesel, Giovanni Ribisi, Adam Goldberg andJeremy Davies) as they search for a paratrooper, Private First Class James Francis Ryan (Matt Damon), who is the last-surviving brother of four servicemen.

Jae’s got really good taste in both movies and music.
Our JJ has sole good taste when it comes tp movies huh? We matched 2 movies, Titanice & Private Ryan haa

La vita è bella.. will always be an unforgettable movie for me.
i’m going to watch the pianist..saving private ryan and life is beautiful since u guys love it as much as jj..but ive watch titanica and probably watched i more than 20 times already but it never gets old for me and i really love mystery-thriller type of movies and drama and well that Suspect X…ive watched the drama of it as well..im a maths enthusiast as well so this is kind of all in one movie for me…its really good!!!!…it was a pity that there was no season 2 for the drama like Liar Game…
He’s watching various genre, from romance to war.
good you don’t have some robotic/kiddie movie in your top 5.
You got a good taste Jae !
Jaejong, there is only for two years which I know you, and I appreciate you more and more. Your tastes in cinema get closer to mine. I adore ” the pianist ” with Adrien Brody, one of my favorite actors, ” The life is beautiful ” of and with Roberto Benigni, who makes us laugh with a subject so dramatic as concentration camps, what I like most in Titanic it is the soundtrack ” my heart will go ” sang by Céline Dion, ” It needs to save the soldier Ryan ” (French title), with Matt Damon, which affects me a lot because he tells the landing in Normandy in 1944, and the last one I cannot speak about it because I do not know it but I am going to inform on the Net. Thank you, to make us connaitre your tastes and one of the facets of your personality.
Aww.. Is JJ a fan of massa too like chunnie? Great choice!
JJ surely has good taste 😀
ever watched the 1st four movies, I’m curious ’bout the Japanese one ^
One of ‘The Pianist’ most memorable scenes comes out fr my mind is when Adrien Brody playing piano infront of one soldier.. music knows no boundaries, even to ur enemies 😀
btw ‘Beautiful Mind’ is also great, though I don’t specifically love Russel Crowe act.
I’ve heard of all these movies, but have only watched Titanic and Devotion of Suspect X.
” Life is Beautiful ” is always my 1st priority
err….Jaejoong was only 11 that year 😛
Saving Private Ryan, Life is Beautiful and The Pianist are the movies i enjoyed alot.. not in my 5 most fave tho (it would be Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather, Lord of The Rings, Gone with the WInd and Transformers). but those 3 movies he recommended were the movies i have watched more than twice =)
I’ve watched them all and liked them all except for Titanic
saving private ryan is my favorite in the list.
He likes that kind of film, huh? I swear, he looks kinda chirpy and cute, but he always surprises us on how deep he can get.
I can understand if he loves Life is Beautiful….but Titanic???!!!!
Ahh Titanic, Jae’s a romantic at heart. I’ll recommend him Love Letter by Shunji Iwai, my all-time favourite Japanese movie. And Saving Private Ryan was most painful to watch, not because of the gory scenes, but because i had to endure a massive headache watching it from the 2nd row in front of the cinema!
I only watched Titanic since it was broadcasted on TV in my homeland. ^^
I didn’t know that Jae loves foreign movies so much. ^-^
Haven’t watch the Jap movie yet….it’s kind of surprising that one of his, should I say, favorites is Titanic… 🙂 🙂
No wonder his thoughts are deep and sophisticated, just look at his movie, book, and music choices. I tried Titanic but it failed to capture my interest, the only thing I enjoyed was its OST. I’ll definitely check out the other movies Jae recommended. It seems everyone approves of his taste. 🙂
You are as me, for Titanic, I adore the ost, sung by Céline Dion: My heart will go one, global success! Other movies are magnificent, but, as we say in France “there is no accounting for tastes”!
His choices are eclectic: drama, comedy, war, thriller.
And in literature, are its choices the same? One day, we shall know it maybe???
I’ve seen all of these movies except for Suspect X–I think that movie is only in Korea–but the other movies are pretty much considered classics. Very interesting choices..Jaejoong is a much deeper person than I thought.
