In the last 2 months, the VOD (Video-on-demand) sales analysis of T Store, under Korea’s biggest telecommunication company SK Planet, showed that the programme with the highest sales is <Missing You> , accounting for 26.25% of drama VOD sales. A related party said, “Through portable devices, they can watch anytime, anywhere. Producers can use this as a reference for survey results and ratings.”
<Missing you> was No 1 in the internet download and portability platform. No wonder Oh Jung Se and Yoon Eun Hye mentioned in their interviews that the “actual ratings” felt in the surroundings seemed a lot higher than the TV ratings of the drama.

People in SK probably are not interested in melodrama genres anymore, that’s why the ratings were not so high compared to other dramas that were airing at the same time as Missing You.
This drama is very famous internationally, one of the reasons is probably because it’s Yoochun 🙂
Even though IMY rating for TV were not so high but yes, IMY popularity outside SK & viewers watching via internet is really really high, here in my country, we’re still in IMY fever including me 😀 I’m so excited when promoting this drama to all my friends but the best is, they really love this drama so much!
But I think this service is for domestic phones judging by the fact it is in Korean. Even in Korea the TV ratings don’t really show the whole picture of how popular the drama is.
I don’t think so many young people watch TV on actual TV sets so much anymore. More and more people watch on one of their devices through streaming.
Totally agree with Lisa. Computer download / streaming is so much faster and more convenient. Any Yoochun drama will be a big hit !
Korea should change way in measuring rating, MY is favored by working age group, school kids who don’t have time to wait broadcasting time. Story line is dark & deep need to watch full attention, rating was higher in Seoul than national throughout the show, drama is not the type that grandmas can open while cooking glancing TV from time to time. If I open MY while my great aunt is cooking she will ask me “girl was hugging one boy now hugging another boy? Too messy change channel!!”
korea is changing gradually, now the technology is better, but the rating system is not, they count the ratings from around 2000 houses across korea which does not prove anything and how popular the drama is. “I MISS YOU” was or is popular but it didnt show in the live ratings, same with other dramas too, they should come up with sth that shows that this drama is popular because the ratings thing are taken too seriously by media and people living in korea so they need to change this thing.
Agreed. VOD sale rating is even more accurate and legit than TV rating. Every viewer of VOD is counted into the rating, but TV rating only comes from 2000 select household in Korea.
