Channel A explained what they meant by their statement.
On the 25th, many JYJ fans were excited as the boys performed on stage at the Presidential Inauguration Park Geun Hye. Not only was it a big honor but it was also the first time for the group to appear on broadcast television as a group. However, fans became a bit upset at Channel A for a statement made during JYJ’s performance.
During the performance, a male anchor stated, “This is messy. There’s something awkward. There should be lighting. We’ve always seen such fancy stages, so it doesn’t look like a show.” The female anchor for the station responded immediately, “It’s because it’s outside. President Park Geun Hye wanted a simple inauguration that many citizens could attend. Because of that, it’s different from the concerts we normally see.”
The male anchor’s comment caused many JYJ fans to rise up and criticize the channel. With the influx of complaints, Channel A explained, “Because the inauguration stage was prepared in a simple way, the stage was quite narrow. They mean that it looked chaotic because of all the audience moving around, since it was the start of the performances.”
I feel like they should apologize and not give excuse, what they say was rude and disrespectful to JYJ >.<
Jeez. B*tch please, excuses aren’t needed, APOLOGY is. SK entertainment & broadcasting is really dirty, disgusting. I feel so bad for our boys for being treated that way 😦
Ummm, I bet that male anchor knows JYJ now!
Ok, excuses given. Not sure which is worse, just being a talking head, or a broadcast journalist who needs to go back to school on how not to sound tackier than the conditions one is reporting on. For starters dude, this is your president’s inauguration. Calling it out in terms such as this makes you look like you didn’t do your homework. But then again, I’m guess here. Hope I’m wrong, cause if you didn’t do your homework, what does that make you? Here’s a clue: A Hot Mess. Hmmm?
I see my membership in Typos ‘R US is still in good standing. 😉
excuses excuses excuses..
hhhmmm… excuses… so what about the other comments made during the performance? sweeping it under the rag?

“Rude male anchor #1: But this looks a little sloppy. Usually there’s stage lighting…
Female anchor: *explanation of the circumstances*
Rude male anchor #2: Yes, but I’ve been to one of these events in 2002. This is disorganized. Very disorganized (he’s like a broken record, lol). Also, I can’t hear them very well. If you compare this stage’s environment to a show’s environment, this choice seems a little weird (laughter).
Rude male anchor #2: The reason this doesn’t look like a show is because the lighting and stage should have been glamorous. They kind of look like our Lee Yoon Suk singing in a karaoke bar (loud laughter) (워낙 화려했을때 그랬는데 막상 이렇게 보니까 우리 이연숙이라고 노래방에서 그거랑 비슷한것같은)
Female anchor: Even if the stage is lacking, I think the fact they stood here holds a lot of meaning for JYJ”
Wow the male anchor was really rude and the female anchor was not rude. Their statement above is just and excuse not an apology. I mean even if I was not a fan of JYJ and I looked at their performance I would of still be amazed by their excellent performance. I think he needs glasses because he definitely do not know what he is talking about. They sounded and looked amazing. They are just trying to come JYJ fans down poorly because they probably got million complaints. I bet he did not think JYJ had so many fans that have their back, stupid man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do these people in entertainment programs think JYJ fans have a special bank to hold excuses? You, bring me your excuses. You too, over here, your excuses! Let me hold them all for you! What The F!!!
They keep on hacking on about manners this and manners that on all their tv shows, but they have no clue what “manners” means. Shame on you!
Oh I totally love your comment…
Absolutely right…
Are they really an anchors……? Its look like they are the mentors/judges of one competition, disrespect for JYJ and also to the President, i thought they are against the pResident. I guess.. I am right.
I’m going to be totally honest in my thought about the performance. Vocal quality was amazing, all three were hitting their notes brilliantly. And if the anchor couldn’t hear well, it may have had something to do with running his mouth the entire time.
I was a bit surprised at the song choices. Anyone who has been following the elections knows that the president was favored by the older demographic, the 50+, and their votes is what most journalists contribute to be the winning factor for the election. The president has a lot of ground to make up with the younger generation, she is simply not popular with them. So choosing JYJ was a smart move on their part. However, based on shots of the general crowd, the inauguration had a heavy attendance of the older demographic, and they tend to have little to no interest in K-pop. So if it were me, I would have selected songs that were sweet, light and nationalistic. I can’t imagine JYJ had too much choice about song selection, but I would never in a million years, try to perform ‘Empty’ for that crowd. I was hoping for a performance of ‘You’re’ or something along those lines. I can’t say whether it was the inauguration committee or the management company that fell down on that aspect. I would have thrown out the first and last songs, actually they could have just done a full performance of the second song and I think that would have gone over much better with the crowd.
However, none if that was brought up by this ignorant journalist who reached into his limited intelligence to try to compare the performance to a full blown concert. News flash dude, you are not at a concert, it could barely even be described as a stage, the performance was really just a means of entertainment for the crowd while waiting on the arrival of the president to begin the inaugural ceremonies. I’m all for honest criticism but comments based in ignorance and inane comparisons really doesn’t cut it for me. If a journalist is planning on providing running commentary during a performance, I would say the very basic thing to do is to familiarize yourself with the subject prior to running your mouth. I really dislike it when fans gang up on someone because they crossed their bias in some way, but, I can’t say I’ll feel bad in any way for this guy. The guy quite simply, did not do his job.
But they were all up on their feet doing gangam dance with Psy >_<# …. go to youtube and see…
Yes, but that song is on a totally different level, even if you don’t like the song, you have to publicly support it bc its become almost an anthem for S Korea. That song has done a lot to raise the public profile of S Korea, some genuinely enjoy it, its catchy and easy to sing and some simply support it as a way to support Korea. For example, I personally find the video hilarious, the song itself, pretty lame. My friends and I, who are Korean, generally feel this way, however every time that stupid song comes on at a bar or club, we all dance and sing to it, especially since everyone who is not Korean looks at us like we should completely love this song and expects us to know the dance. It’s silly but it happens, you cannot compare the popularity of Gangnam to Empty.
The first time I heard that GN style was on wolrd record (so popular), the first thing I said was, “why?”. LOL I think it’s seriously over rated too. However this is the way of the world. There’s time for everything. And everything has a place in it’s time. It’s called fate. The female President was chosen because God made it so, same goes for Obama, and GN style became world popular because that was it’s fate, regardless of whether we think there are a million songs better than it out there. Kings are made the same way.
JYJ are meant to go through whatever they’ve been going through, and whether they will come out of it with gold crowns or not is all in the hands of the almighty who sets our fates. So enjoy the ride and hope for the better! There’s time for everything!
@loveunchanged
I love your comment, very enlightening.
“So enjoy the ride and hope for the better! There’s time for everything!”
I don’t think that’s it. Did you see the footage for GN style? (1) They shot behind him, around him and even infron of him to the crowds/audience. JYJ on the other hand had just one shot, on them and those behind and nothing of the main crowd or audience. So we only got to see the staid “important” people behind JYJ who were just as staid and immobile during GN style. (2) GN style had like 50 dancers (this much wearing all black at the top, that much wearing colors in a semi circle below and soso next to him) all of whom were dancing to his song. JYJ brought howmany dancers? 6? (3) GN style had huge tv broadcast to the public so obviously these old people who don’t use the internet will know that song better than JYJ’s song. Plus it’s english. Yeah. So there were many factors. And JYJ did such a great job. I’m so proud of them!
If you wanna compare the footage of GN style to JYJ’s, here it is.
@mkverse
“I really dislike it when fans gang up on someone because they crossed their bias in some way, but, I can’t say I’ll feel bad in any way for this guy. The guy quite simply, did not do his job.”
you took the words right out of my mouth.
the way i see it, the anchor commented on how disorganized the performance stage was prepared for this important event, not on how JYJ performed. so i won’t take his saying as an offense to JYJ. sometimes i hope we, fans, don’t think that everyone wants to bring JYJ down all the time.
*stares*….. they just keep on digging themselves deeper in their own pile of crap-ola! Dumb and dumber hosting South Korea’s Presidential Inauguration (which by the way is televised in the AM…. so there is no need for stage lighting….. ooooh —– ahhhhh)
This is the kind of journalists South Korea broadcast media entrust news which is delivered to the viewing public…. I feel so sad for the viewing public, how much shit has been thrown at you by these professional crap-handlers!
I apologize for the mean language but I do not apologize for my intended message. What they did and what they continue to do is such an insult to intelligence of all — not just to JYJ, the fans but to all — they think they can bullshit their way out of their own stupid high horse!
Words of apology —- act of humility!
but it was chaotic in my opinion, not JYJ not Psy but the crowd. They kept moving around and around. Even I was thinking this is messy. Why do they put audience behind artist? and why don’t they have enough respect to be still during the performance? I assume those sitting behind the artists were those big people tho, but I really wished they had a better respect to the performance. Maybe that was what the statement was all about but the timing of the comments might not be suitable.
Why invite the boys to sing if they just gonna treat them like shit anyway? Why even bother? In the previous post I stated that I was worry bout JYJ involved in the even and I have good reason. Well, this is the reason, even tho I wasn’t surprise, I wish they didn’t do that. It’s almost like they planned this whole thing. “Yeah let’s cut their perf short and let’s talk shit while they’re on stage” Even worst, maybe the organizer planned this…”Yeah let’s have JYJ on the show who knows we might get high rating from young audience”…. It happened before. Hope I’m wrong tho. Just my opinion. JYJ FIGHTING!!
It wasn’t certainly a president inauguration ballroom like situation. JYJ knew the condition of the stage but accepted the opportunity and performed well. Even with this disturbing noise, I still feel that JYJ just made another historical turn.
I don’t think Korean media was interested in airing much of performances except PSY anyway. The focus was the president, and the anchors were acting like chatting over the performances very casually as if they were watching some ball game behind them.
To the musicians and the fans, they were unprofessional and lacked dignity. The same news segment aired by KBS/SBS/CHANNEL A in Korea vs. NHK show the night and day of differences. Instead of providing a decent apology, they came up with cheap excuse. They lack minimum level of decency and integrity.
Generally the gist of the comments was the poor stage/lighting conditions and chaotic stage since people were just going to and fro. These conditions were not under JYJ’s control, they were just performers there, they didn’t prepare the stage, those criticisms were more for the organizers or to the president’s staff handling the event, not for JYJ (as a JYJ fan I’m not offended). About the special treatment for Psy, well he’s got a name worldwide compared to JYJ which is unknown to the Korean general public due to 3 years broadcast ban, ignorant broadcast commentators are ignorant, so that’s regrettable, even the fans of the other performers before JYJ had the same complain, they were not also acknowledged.
And people and those commentators should take note that those performances were for the general audience entertainment while waiting for the actual inauguration ceremony, that’s why it’s called pre-inauguration performances, different from congratulatory performance, naturally some people were so restless going around, they were preparing for the arrival of the president and checking everything for the grand event.
I think fans should just drop those petty comments and move on. Why should we stressed ourselves with those comments coming from a nobody.
The announcers were PAID MONEY or ordered by their bosses to INSULT JYJ. The new president should definitely look into this situation. There is widespread corruption in the Korean entertainment industry and it is all fueled by money. Madame President, open your eyes! Please, please try to stop this!
From the begining he shouldn’t have said that. It just showed haw lame he is. Just @BAF said go back to school, dude and behave your thoughts and mouth!
Such anchor n TV won’t apologize anyway, coz it will hurt their pride which have been low.
If you’re here, you’re going to need new set of tires… Hope I’m not giving anyone ideas. wink… wink
yaayy
BULL to the SHIIIT
sorry
stupid announcer!!!
The announcer was just some witless talking head, getting off on the sound of his own voice! You won’t see an apology because the guy was just running his mouth; he didn’t care how his remarks came out. Let’s instead, look forward to our boys’ next projects 😀
This is not a gangup but a confirmation of them having to be careful of what they say respect is a must and in this situation total disrespect was given to the JYJ members, and to state the fans were chaotic is well is a very sloppy excuse I do love to forgive and forget but in order for this to not happen agan the fans need to make a statement any broadcast station that is rude to JYJ will be boycotted against they cannot survive without viewers like JYJ cannot survive without their fans sticking and proctecting them from things such as this… I hope I kept this statement mild and very clear….. MAMA does not play this…..
If both of them do not know what to talk they should keep quiet and just watch the ceremony.
Yeah, that “explanation” is so not working for me…
Just saw the news that Channel A officially apologized. I am sorry that I can’t translate in English very well, but the anchor Park Jong Jin officially apologized for his comments during the program as follows:

he should apologize and apologize to jyj for all those out of place comments
I just wanted to add I am in the United States and I know of JYJ I recently learned of Psy thru a friend at work who stated do the gungnam stile so she made me watch the video but I mention JYJ and yes we know who they are…. World Wide we love and support them so comments stating they are not well known shows no knowledge of the fan base… Concerts sell out when ever they visit here….
they were just being stupid with their out of place comments and ignorance unless he is in some ways related to the company that jyj sued…maybe?
Yeah you right even I’m from Malaysia know JYJ.
