Read Channel A’s response statement here
Although it was the first time in two years that JYJ appeared on TV as an idol group, fans were not happy with the commentary made by Channel A’s anchors during the live broadcast.
On February 25, the Presidential Inauguration of Park Geun Hye took place at the National Assembly Building’s Center Plaza in Yeouido. As Park Geun Hye made her way over, congratulatory performances took place, including those by JYJ and Psy.
With each broadcast station streaming the performance differently with different announcers, Channel A has caught the wrath of JYJ fans due to the pointed comments made by its anchors.
Some of the comments included, “This is JYJ. You don’t know them well, right?” “They’re the ones that dropped out of TVXQ,” “When this song ends, Psy will come out,” and “We will listen to Psy during the live broadcast.”
They continued on, describing the performance as mediocre.
When the male announcer stated, “Something seems missing. It’s supposed to have lights,” the female announcer tried to better the situation by explaining that since the focus is on the president’s inauguration and the performance is outside, it is seemingly different from what would be shown at a concert.
Having been at the 2002 Presidential Inauguration, a third announcer added that it’s hard to hear the music and the atmosphere is a bit unorganized as well.
The male announcer then said, “Compared to performances with brilliant lights, this performance seems like singing at a karaoke room.”
As JYJ’s performance came to an end, the female announcer wrapped it up, saying, “Although it has an unorganized vibe, it’s very meaningful that JYJ stood on this stage.”
Fans became quite upset at the remarks, saying, “JYJ is not a rookie singer. They are globally influential singers,” “Can comments like that be said on air?” “Is Psy the only singer at this event?” and “We demand an apology.”
There were also a lot of outcries made when most of the broadcasting stations focused on Psy’s performance, while skimming over performances by the other artists, such as JYJ, Brave People, Sonya, and Jang Yoon Jung.

[NEWS] ‘Fell Out of TVXQ…’ JYJ Fans Become Angry
The broadcast comment of group JYJ during president Park Geun Hye’s inauguration is becoming an issue.
Today, Channel A aired the inauguration event of president Park Geun Hye held in Yeo Ee Do of Seoul.
During the event, when JYJ went on stage for a special performance. But as they were going up, the male and female announcers said, “This group is named JYJ. You don’t know that well, huh? This group is the group that fell out of TVXQ before.”
And in the middle of the performance, the male announcer said, “Something’s a bit awkward. There has to be good lighting too,” and the female announcer said, “It’s because it’s outside and our main focus today is the inauguration, so it’s much different from being at a concert.”
The male announcer also said, “Compared to seeing them under stage lighting, this looks like singing at a karaoke,” and he continued to make rude comments such as “When this song is over, Psy is coming out.” The female announcer tried to ease his tone by saying, “Even though it was a bit hectic today, I think it is very meaningful that JYJ went on stage.”
But after watching this, many fans of JYJ were angered. Many fans posted on their Twitter, “Channel A must apologize to JYJ. Is broadcasting a joke? I was very uncomfortable at the things you said” and “That went too far. Do you know what it takes to prepare for a world tour? Those things are not things to be said to artists who practice shedding tears and sweat.”
On this day, JYJ performed ‘EMPTY,’ ‘I Know,’ and “Oh! Salute Korea.’
We demand an apology u jerk!!unprofessional ppl shouldnt work at tv station
How can they said that on a national TV .. broadcast all over the world. JYJ is a very well known and talented singer internationally .. only SK entertainment business are too blind/plain #$%^ TO ADMIT that.
Alas, we JYJ i-fan are very proud of them… JYJ saranghae!!!!!
Unprofessional you say? Have you heard of shout your A-hole while others are on stage? I didn’t think so. Well…if you’re not familiar w/ JYJ, now you are because your stupidity made it on the news everywhere.
Next time, remember that the event was to celebrate your president’s inauguration & not to degrade others on national television.
“This group is named JYJ. You don’t know that well, huh?”
Well, JYJ is well known internationally so if South Koreans don’t know them well, then it just means that there is something inexplicably wrong with South Korea to not promote their own sons. Meanwhile, China went out of their way to send a private jet to escort Yoochun for an appearance.
I thought Channel A is Japan Broadcasting Station…
the one who doesn’t know JYJ well is the commentator himself..even JYJ stand at the top place in Japan…I watched lots of videos during their Japan activities where the announcers were scared to lose their jobs because of the slight mistake they made…
and I bet he has to learn the hard way…the fans from the whole world will bash him…and he will forever remember who JYJ is…that was so rude…how can he said something like that in the president occasion?
Yes we do demand an apology you stupid unprofessional person!!!!! So the only artist that they really showed their performance entirely was PSY. Even though they should have shown JYJ more, at least they were not specifically targeted and was not the only artist that was not shown entirely. Even if I was not a fan of JYJ I would of enjoyed their stage performance because it was amazing!!!!! They did an excellent job!!!! They looked and sounded amazing!!!!! Visually JYJ and their dancers were attractive. Their singing and dancing was on point. So the stupid anchor man need to shut up with his unnecessary rude comments. I am so happy the female anchor was professional and not nasty like that clown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do have one question: My question is what type of stage did PSY have. Did he have lights, fire, etc… going on for his stage performance? What was extra special about what he did on stage. I say this comment not because I dislike because that is not the case. I just wanted to know how did his stage look.
I just want to make it clear that I am not saying I dislike PSY nor am I bashing his performance. I like the one song I know PSY sing and I did not see his performance. But I just wanted to know how did his stage look because the man commentator was talking about it like there was going to be a whole lot of lights, fire, balloons, belly dancers, something big, ect… was going to be apart of his stage show. I am just curious. To me JYJ only being shown a little just like the rest of the artists except PSY did not make me not enjoy the moment because they were still performing on tv. However, this BS disrespect makes me furious!!!!!!!!!!!
stop making us dissapointe!!!!!! they are hero. but why their own country see them like a dirt n unrespectful…!!!!! if I were them maybe I will change my Nationality n move to another country. but I know that they love their country very much (how many ambassador that they did? they must be angels, with all the think that people do to them but they keep helping the others). oh God I hope maybe mrs. president can help them…
That is so unprofessional. Commentators are supposed to fill the people in who are watching about what is going on. He should, at the very least, have made some quick research about who is performing right? Also, why blame the artists for the disorganized way they were handed the stage? People running around, walking to and fro, commentators blocking the artists’ voices? Finally, this guy should have thought carefully why JYJ were invited on stage. His comments were just plain ignorant, rude, and not professional at all.
Reblogged this on luminarytriad.
Well..so here it is..!! my feeling sooo complicated since yesterday coz hear TVXQ on video but don’t know what they talking about..but, waaww..so that is they talking about?!?!! FTW..this is the profesional broadcast comment huhh..??! in such a big event..??!
ohhh GOD..!! yesterday everyone (me too) just upset and can settle it down..but now,,it’s BOooMmm!!!!!
I cannot take this anymore..you’re such a morron commentator..!!!! >₩<
Fell out of TVXQ?
what’s fell out ?
Sometimes if you want to separate components in a substance you used the process of Filtration.
This process has “residue” stays in the filter, “filtrate” passes through the filter or the fell out, from my lab work experience, we’re more interested on the filtrate and use for further analysis, the residue is usually discarded. . That’s why I don’t care if that broadcaster refer JYJ as the fell out, now we got the most valuable components of the original TVXQ.
As for the other complaints, blame the organizers and the actual circumstances (being a morning outdoor event, how could you expect great lighting effects, being a pre-inaugural event, how could you expect an orderly stage?)
I’m a little surprised why it took jyj3 so long to post this, I almost thought they wouldn’t. It seems allkpop likes to be the first when it comes to bad news about jyj.. Sigh, I get really upset when jyjers are the last to know..
Anyway, this whole situation is shity!! This is what happens when you get too excited! And here I was thinking what could possibly go wrong?!
Actually we should not give those unprofessional commentators from a cable channel much importance, JYJ is far more worthy than them!
“I’m a little surprised why it took jyj3 so long to post this” – For me, this negative article is ok to be posted late.
male announcer stated, “Something seems missing. It’s supposed to have lights,”
you want lights in Daylight ??!!
LOL the sun was not enough for him… can’t change colour or shoot out columns of fire.
yeah …and the best rock concerts I’ve been to were in broad daylight .
damn this idiot .
hahaha! you’re right! The company should kick him out because he shows stupidity and ignorance in public making such comments!

It have been 4yrs that JYJ was not seen nationwide singing on television we fans(JYJ, Cassie’s , Big East) was very excited when we heard the big news about the boys going to sing for the first time live on television. But, what we saw and hear from the reporters was shocking and rude. Of course some of us already know that JYJ will not be respected at the Ceremony and OFC this was for the New presidents and not supposed to be focus on JYJ. But, like I said the fans where waiting for JYJ only.
But, it was a total uncalled for. Isn’t news reporter supposed to have information before the events starts so they can know about each performer so they won’t make themselves look like unprofessional fools? JYJ did so much for you people in Korea they also going to be representing you guys AGAIN and spreading Haully wave AGAIN across the world and this is how they repay back JYJ? MY god… do we called you humans? or what? People(others fandoms) are say JYJ fan are to sensitive and always causing trouble….well, here a another proof on why we all are upset.
—————————-
P.S. For: fans(JYJ, Cassie’s , Big East)
Yes we are allowed to be mad and express our anger towards the people that hurt ours boys. But, if you wish something bad upon them or threatening them it will make us look bad as those peoples. It will just make our fandom look weak and immature. In others peoples eyes(I saw it many times already what they say about our fandom). So keep it to minimum level and professional.
Also, one more thing I been always wanting to say… In others forum on a JYJ articles why always bring up other group and bash that group? Why compare? it will cause more anger and fanwars and this is going out for Stans. Yes I know you love JYJ but no need to bash other group its very immature.
I second that!
Sometime I feel WE “JYJ fans” too arrogant.I am really sorry for this, but plase I don’t want we behave like super junior fans.
If we don’t like please say it with a polite way.though they hurt JYJ and us.please let’s answer with our support to JYJ.Smile please when we heard a bad news about our boys, they don’t know the real of our JYJ.
I’m really sorry to say this, but I hope we can better in the future
I agree with you @fafajung and @ladykisu
As for yesterdays event, we don’t have to criticize Psy or Gangnam Style to bring up JYJ. If possible let’s forgive their ignorance, move on and be cheerful, too much bitterness is dangerous to our health.
WOW unbelievable after all the good representation JYJ has done for Korea. I think the boys need to move to Japan or another country where they are loved and appreciated, Korea does not deserve all the good publicity that comes by way of our boys.
Yes, we demand Channel A to apologize not only for JYJ sake but for others whom discriminated too. Let’s show them JYJ fans power
We respect SK because of JYJ and because of them a lot of fans have learned the Korean language and visited SK and bought Korean mad e products. I pity you because you can’t recognize real talents like them but instead accept bribes from other entertainment companies to promote mediocre performers.
Doesn’t such an important event demand the best there is? Are these anchors the best and the most professional ones? They should seriously evaluate their personnel!! Indeed, their job was a different one than to make such low and silly comments (lights during the day?) on a group that has brought so much to Korea. An apology is indeed needed.
In any case, we and the world know, love and support JYJ. And who are they? A couple of unprofessional anchors who are now known for their amateur and disrespectful behavior.
Forgot about be a fan of JYJ
I just can only say. these announcers should go find other job.. whatever that you thinking, you are honest, you are meaning, you got other blackhand 0r whatever reasons you still can’t said those rude words on the national TV, special on the important day in your country, first for the basic respect human, second for the face of country in front of over the world, not only JYJ but the artis got chose for just not a random picked, they should have something, talent or success with their career to represent the country.. not only how poor and lacking professorisim they are, they made the slap on the face their own all nation special every one know it not the group JYJ or other artis can organized the stage.. that the Korean government organizer LOL ….what a joke for the first day of new goverment.
anyway, our boy their excerlent job, listen they sang so well even YC with the crazy shuedule i am happy, miss their voice so much ^___________^
i demand an apology
i hate the announcers should go find other job………………who is the male announcers
the stage is in very poor condition
they are our hero and what is meaning from fell out from tvxq………………………..the announcers is not professional at all
No matter what happen JYJ will always be our hero hwatting
They fell from tvxq hahaha
Mister tvxq name was recognize because of this 3
We do not have to get upset we just ban all broadcast from this station and then they will realize they need to be very careful with wha they say the power of the viewers is a very serious thing… So lets show them who has this power JYJERS…. We can just politely and quietly not watch them….. Do they have affiliates in the United States so I can band as well…
CHANNEL A BURN TO HELL!
How come they said like that. Why in their own country they are not treat very well. I’m furious because I like them very much even though I’m from Malaysia.
jyj should sue their asses..that was out of line. they should fired and should apologize in public.maybe the fans can give them a taste of their own medecine and protest in public against them…see how the like that…sorry for venting like this, but can’t stand abussive people
yep sue again…cuz thats exactly the kind of reputation CJeS and JYJ need right now. to go around suing pretty much every one in the industry, and earn the grand title of becoming Korea’s biggest drama queens!
yes the industry is unfair but what matters is the public’s perception of JYJ, and let me tell u something hun, all this suing and lawsuits are turning JYJ and CJeS into a big joke in the public’s eye.
if they treat u badly, u are suppose to swallow it up and move on..be the better person..pple will give u more respect that way.
well it WAS on a national broadcast and the comments WERE unprofessional… i think it would be different if cjes started throwing lawsuits around at every opportunity but so far i think they have all been warranted. i don’t think they are going to sue channel A, either.
and no one else is going to stick up for JYJ and i don’t think SK really cares about JYJ. most of korea doesn’t even like kpop in general. if they like anyone, it will probably be actor yoochun, actor jaejoong (lol not so much..) and musical star junsu.
wah, the Chanel A’s anchor should apologize to JYJ, Fans of JYJ, and their comments!!!!
they didn’t know JYJ??? One word in indonesian “T.E.R.L.A.L.U…..!!!!! poor them, that they didn’t know JYJ!!!
Hmm the plot gets thicker. It seems that CJES has already made a statement about this. So it must be something serious if CJES had to make a statement like that.
http://www.allkpop.com/2013/02/jyjs-label-says-channel-a-should-apologize-to-viewers
In the comments section of the article at AKP (sorry I am hungry for news regarding this matter)
Also, someone commented that JYJ’s bodyguard tweeted about JYJ being upset not just with that coverage but with something that went down backstage. I had a gut feel, judging by their facial expressions that something upsetting happened. Anyway, can someone confirm this? Thank you!
really backstage?they were kind of serious during their performance….interesting wonder what went on.
ok im sorry but who the hell would perform a song like Empty at an inauguration! i love JYJ but i really wish they had sang an empowering and strong ballad instead..or something a bit more patriotic..
having them perform a pop dance club song like Empty at such a hugely important political event would be like watching Beyonce singing Crazy in Love or Single Ladies at Obama’s inauguration!
as happy as i was seeing them there, their performance did not fit the atmosphere one bit and it did seem lacklustred!
even Gangnam Style was a horrible choice to sing at this event…sigh
the singers’ segment was truly embarrassing to watch
lol single ladies would have been great at obama’s inauguration
obama…yes i agree with u on that
@sari
I personally don’t think the choice of songs is the issue. If you go back to the discussion, the theme of the concert was songs from different generations. No where was it stated they had to all be patriotic. This was entertainment. There were folk singers, classical/musical singers, etc. The idea was something for everyone.
The real fault in all of this was just how incredibly tacky the entire staging was done. Not that I sat and watched the whole inauguration from end to end. I just remember thinking how lackluster the day seemed, and not just because the day was overcast. I understand President Park wanted to keep it lowkey because of the economic times. Her desires are what count the most. But the people who conceived and produced this entire event seemed to be rank amateurs at best.
I will admit I am commenting from a Western perspective and an American. Here we tend to do things like this in a big way because of tradition. But I just could not wrap myself around the fact that this was the inauguration for a head of state and it looked like something being produced for a shopping mall. We are all going have a different take on this. So, I’m going to respect your opinion. But the organizers really should have taken more care to produce a first rate event for all the participants and the viewing audience, both in attendance and not attending. There is only going to be one of these for Pres. Park, they should have made it memorable for her and the people of SK.
i think jyj did their best with a small stage and how the evnt was badly organized.if some people wanted something different or maybe more patriotic, they could have added some patriotic events to the whole presentation or maybe ask jyj to do something different giving them more time to prepare of course.but jyj is not to blame at all of course, it must have been fustrating for them too.
To be quite honest i dont listen to their music but just hearing about how they were looked down upon like that makes me mad, even if they were rookies it wouldn’t be acceptable. i would feel bad calling those “adults” childish since it would give children a bad name.
