The group JYJ (Jaejoong Kim, Yuchun Park, Junsu Kim) is due to resume its activities in Japan in 4 years, the first step at Tokyo Dome.
C-JeS Entertainment (a.k.a C-JeS) announced JYJ’s concert in Tokyo Dome with a teaser poster on its official website. No further details about schedules are announced accept that it’d be 3-day concert. The announcement only says official details will be available on Mar 1.
“This concert has a huge meaning as it’s been 4 years since JYJ met fans in Tokyo Dome. We’ll be able to inform more details once we have settled with Japanese partner”, explained a staff at C-JeS.
Before this, Tokyo District Court ruled against AVEX who insist on JYJ’s exclusive management right. It also ordered AVEX to pay 660 million Yen (approx 7.8 billion Won) to JYJ’s management, C-JeS for compensation for damage.
Tokyo District Court also acknowledged that AVEX’s libel to the CEO of C-JeS and ordered it to pay compensation to him (Mr. Baek) as well. AVEX is known to appealed against the ruling, but practically JYJ has free to resume its activities.
JYJ had the court’s approval of the injunction to terminate exclusive contract against SM Entertainment in November 2009 and made an exclusive contract with AVEX through C-JeS in 2010. However, the both sides had conflict about the group’s range of activities and AVEX suspended JYJ’s activities in Japan in September 2010. C-JeS noticed AVEX for its cancellation of exclusive contract, but AVEX insisted that it still had exclusive right on the group and interfered in the group’s activities in Japan such as concerts.
After the ruling, C-JeS announced that the ruling would make JYJ have activities in Japan and they were really grateful about the fact that Japanese court acknowledged AVEX’s interference and banned it.
As JYJ finished the lawsuit with its former management, SM Entertainment in 3 years and 4 months in November 2011 and won the lawsuit against AVEX, the group finished all legal dispute related.

There would be high expectation from me regarding JYJ’s Japanese activities. I‘ve always love their Japanese activities more. I don’t know why but I think Japanese language sounds more poetic in my ears than Korean language. That is probably why I love their Japanese songs more, it suits JYJ’s gorgeous voices, and bring their emotional capabilities of delivering a song into a higher level….
Whoever JYJ’s Japanese representative will be, I hope everything goes well for JYJ. Maybe a huge and powerful company does have a big influence in securing deals, album’s productions, promotions, and distributions, maybe some CF and drama deals, therefore boosts JYJ’s popularity. But I sincerely just hoping for many wonderful Japanese songs, with their already wonderful voices and talents to be fairly produced and promoted. In this stage time of their careers, the most important thing is longevity. No need to bother too much about bragging JYJ’s popularity compare to other artists or other fandoms.
Calculating the timeline, considering Avex’s appeal to the court decision that is ongoing at the moment, I think it would be safer for JYJ to announce the Dome concert, also to reveal their new Japanese’s representative after the end of March. If I remember correctly, the exclusive contract between JYJ and Avex should have ended naturally by the end of March this year, no matter what. I think the concert should be held around April.
All that being said, I’m happily smiling right now since the timing is just so perfect. Just when I decide to start learning Japanese a little bit more intense. Junchan…. let’s learn Japanese again!!!
And also hoping JYJ get back their rights,, which is to perform and to reproduce again their old 2010’s song from “The….” mini album, and maybe JaeChun’s “Colors – Melody and Harmony” single….. JYJ fighting!!!
