Pop singers in South Korea enjoy taking on new challenges to expand their careers in the entertainment industry into various fields. Musicals are one such avenue. The profession, which requires talent not only in singing but also in acting and dancing, is sometimes considered overly arduous for idols to manage. However, there are a few who overcame these underestimations of idols’ talents and successfully became competent musical actors.
1. Kim Jun-soo (JYJ)
A member of K-pop group JYJ and also known by his stage name Xia, Kim Jun-soo made his debut on the musical stage in 2010 with a leading role in “Mozart.”
Soon he was acknowledged for his skillful singing talent as well as his well-polished acting and dancing skills. He received the “Best New Actor” award at the Musical Awards and the Korea Musical Awards in 2010. Kim continued to perform on stage with “Tears of Heaven” and “Elizabeth.”
Recently, the hallyu star was voted the “idol singer with the most potential to become a musical actor” in an online community poll.

I dont get how ock ju hyun is no4…coz she is already a musical actress ….anyway congratz junsu…looking forward for u to win more awards in the future
Congratulation Junsu, but i think, that this’s a big mistake, how come they Jessica (Girl’s Generation) & Cho Kyu-hyun (Super Junior) are beter than Ock Ju-hyun, she’s already a musical actress and she got already a lot of awards in SK-n Musical field, including “The Best Actress” award.
May be because Ock Ju-kyun is no longer an idol ^ ^
For the other 2, I didn’t have a chance (and wont be a chance, ha ha) to watch their musicals. However, I really wonder how good Jessical is in musical, I don’t even think she sings well in her kpop songs. I guess Cho kyuhyun is a bit better though.
Agree. Frankly, to put Junsu’s name at the same plane with Jessica in the musical world an insult. No offense.
As long as they recognize true talent I am so happy no one can form a note like our baby Junsu and I so love his pronunciations yes I said it his crisp delivery of words in a song is amazing some singers on stage you can barely here the word in watching clips I will just say amazing I still would like to see him in Elizabeth if I can just pinpoint when he plans on actually playing death.
me too me too! it would be a night of magic!
They should also mention he is the best musical actor in 2012 and the most popular musical actor for 3 consecutive years form 2010. ^ ^
its killing me to check the website every five minutes for any updates
truer words could never be said about junsu! he is amazing and i am really glad that he ventured into musicals and showed his stuff! now, i need to see him in action 🙂
