7. Hero Jaejoong (DBSK, JYJ)
While K-pop is home to plenty of “flower boys” (effeminate guys who make girls swoon), Hero is one of the first pop stars to own it. His claim to fame is DBSK, one of K-pop’s most successful boy bands. After the group dissolved, he went on to form JYJ with remaining members, then forayed into acting and directing. He’s massively popular in Japan, where his solo debut topped the iTunes charts. Hero probably could’ve milked the rest of his youth as a model, but he’s proven to be more than a pretty face.

Um…. I’m not sure about the braun… for my money it’s more like “scrawn” these days, but no matter — Jaejoong is absolutely an icon of beauty and creativity in popular culture if you ask me. He is 100% qualified to be the spokesmodel and exemplar extraordinaire for an entire generation of pop idols both now and the coming-soon editions. I highly doubt whether a one of those same idols, if polled, would disagree. Jaejoong embodies what every one of the current crop of the Tireless Toilers of K-Pop long to be: that rare being who is stunningly beautiful from any angle, who is madly and genuinely talented as a singer, unique song stylist and songwriter, who makes the news simply by donning a pair of torn jeans, dark glasses and a hoodie and stepping outside his door. Besides all of that, he is our own resident genius/alien/god. Of course WE love him. I don’t know – perhaps we could be slightly prejudiced…

my thoughts exactly!!! there are so many JYJ pictures of Jaejoong so why do they stubbornly use that one every time!!! I also disagree with the ranking but that may be just me being biased!!

I have to admit that his body and shirtless look during the Mirotic days was hot! but I agree with you, there are nicer current pictures of him. His hairstyle here is not one of my favorites.

Yes he is more than just a pretty face. He has talent and smarts to add to that. I will say man he does look so hot in this pic!!!! This is one of my favorites!!! I love the weight he was at in this pic!!!!!!

And I love how they chose Psy : No, seriously! Within the image-obsessed K-pop landscape, there doesn’t seem to be much room for anyone who doesn’t embody the physical ideal. Armed with an acerbic wit and a knack for infectious anthems, the veteran hip-hopper proves you don’t need to be a hottie with a body to have real swagger. He’s a talented underdog who’s down to have fun, and you can’t beat that.
In fairness, all in the list are really sexy on their own way, no objection.

Flower boys is a term which is really hard to translate because the concept doesn’t even exist outside of Asia, but effeminate guys is really insulting to Jaejoong. He is so far from being effeminate, but truly hard to express what he really is. He’s a category unto himself.

Good Lord — Psy is #1?? I found the writing to be dismissive and vaguely insulting (the use of the word ‘effeminate’ is an unnecessarily rude way of defining “flower boy”) but Psy coming in at #1 really ended any credibility it had for me.
I was looking at this and the first thought was ” I wonder what lilibaiyu going to say about this ” ?

lol, this article is funny, I have a case of the tickles lately. The writer is trying to say sexy doesn’t have to be physical. Psy’s personality has a charm that appeals to the writer. It’s just one opinion, my taste is def dif from hers, I can’t agree with most of her choices, number three really gives me the creepies and there are so many others I would list. But for her list, of course Jae should be second after Psy, lol she made her article stand out from the typical list, and got a laugh or a growl haha.

I am not familar with everyone on the list. However, the only ones I disagree with is PSY and Big Band. All the other ones I agree with her putting them on the list. However, I disagree about the order they are listed.
