kris, you always share such interesting info. thanks, this made me laugh, these polls always leave me baffled. (mostly bc of the two, are they that popular? who are these people that are voting for them? more koreans or intl? it’s scary knowing so many would stand behind and choose the devious type instead of the honorable type) I’m so glad Yoochun won over them.
As I observed, they got a lot of loyal fans (from the original group) and new fans too considering their unending release of materials.
Who wouldn’t? wearing such prestigious name pushed up by two giant companies, I think it’s a given.Thank goodness, JYJ still survived with such popularity polls.

Just for (really few ^__^) of those who thinks Yoochun shouldn’t have won this.. here is my two cents…
Some might not realize.. but even if Yoochun is not active in 2013 with a an album like JJ or Junsu, most of his dramas in 2012 like RTP and Missing You are just being shown Internationally in the first half of 2013.. (ex.. here in the Philippines)
He has gained new fans through that.. who started asking ..who is JYJ? What the hell is KPOP?
Technically Korea claims JYJ as KPOP.. and Yoochun is a JYJ member.. and this poll (popularity or whatever) didn’t limit the activities to just music..

Only few of the other nominees had solo music stuffs as well but, them being part of their respective groups qualifies them to the poll.. or probably it’s them doing other stuffs like CF, variety, drama, movie, ETC

As long as he is the Y in JYJ.. I don’t see why he cant..
Though it’s through his drama.. he had brought in significant number of fans to the world of JYJPOP at the early part of 2013..
Yoochun has nothing to be embarrassed in winning this .. this love, loyalty and popularity is a result of his equal hardwork..
Actually it could have been Jaejoong or Junsu winning because come on.. JYJ members individually are GRAND AWESOME artists on their own.. so as part of the JYJ family .. it’s worth celebrating whoever wins.. ^_^

Me too. A new JYJ fan after watching Yuchun’s dramas. Googled Yuchun and it led me to JYJ, Jae n Junsu.
I like Yuchun most and came to love the other 2 boys bcos of their talent .
Test of talent : listened to their ballads (OSTs) and checked out their live singing. They passed. I would never otherwise be a fan of a kpop group.
Oh yeah…. Junsu’s dancing is just …. Awesome! Daebak! You beauty???

@jenknight18 You stated it clearly and correctly. I’m from the Philippines too. Kpop was nonexistent to me before I’ve known Yoochun through Rooftop Prince which was aired in our country in January 2013. It was my first time to finish a Korean drama. Then, I started listening to Korean music through JYJ and DBSK5. Therefore, I would really say that Yoochun was the one who ignited my interest in Kpop. Because of him, I’ve come to know other Kpop groups, K dramas and artists and a little bit of Korean culture.
Yoochun deserved the win. I actually voted for him but gave Junsu the rest of my votes because he’s way behind. I also don’t think that Chun is doing nothing for nothing. Jae Chun Su is giving each other moment to shine as individual so that they’ll be brighter as a group.

yes i agree…I came to know JYJ because of Park Yuchun drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal The Lee Sun Joon that mesmerized me with his acting skills, from there I google everything about him and even watching TVXQ’s past concerts and activities in youtube…Yuchun is the instrument that makes me a JYJ FAN.. I love the 3 boys and forever will.

me personally don’t really care bout this kind of polls actually so no matter who wins this, I have no issue at all..But when some of our fandoms on twitter especially expressing their feeling & embarrassing bout his winning, I felt ouhh..they really take it this poll too seriously! But still I am happy by his winning coz he’s from our JYJ & since he is the one who brought me to this world —> JYJ world that makes me going gaga bout them everyday!!! so, just cheers, peace & keep supporting each other 😀 😀 😀
Very well said @jenknight18! 🙂 After first week of airing of Rooftop prince in the Philippines I can’t stop myself from admiring Chunnie which led me in researching everything about him. That’s how I came to know JYJ and DBSK. So I really can say that he really deserves the title or being the poll winner since many fans get to love KPOP after watching Chunnie on his dramas and I am one of them. Until now, my day wont be complete without having a glimpse of him or listening to his voice through their songs. 🙂

I agree with your insight. JYJ & Kpop’s music were not a name I was too familiar with but I was introduced to Kpop world in 2013 through Yoochun from his dramas. Because of him, I listened & watched Kpop & K-drama with interest.
seriously am happy when new fans comes along as a result of the boys’ individual activities..fingers crossed that the long awaited JYJ album comes soon.

I really truly HATE polls like this ( for several reasons) but at least they give the winner some exposure with an actual interview ….I voted for Yoochun ( JJ and Junsu were already to far behind ) .

Actually, I found out about KPop because of Yoohwan, Yoochun’s brother)) I watched K-Pop extreme survival, and was amazed by Yoohwan’s smile, and so googled him and found lots of stuff about his hyung and JYJ.

Okay, I’m sorry but Yoochun didn’t come out with any music the first half of this year so this doesn’t make sense to me. I love him but this doesn’t make any sense. Out of JYJ JJ should have had the top place since he actually was promoting music. And why does Junsu always seem to score low in polls like these. Poor Junsu. 😦
I really don’t like polls like these. I just end up feeling bad.
Well if the poll was for anyone who released an album in 2013 then almost every idol on that list should be #1. Forget about the fact that his Missing You drama ended well in 2013. Forget the fact that he performed a 3-day Tokyo dome concert with JYJ where he sang his 2013 self-composed song “walking with her through spring”. Those were things that helped himself, JYJ, and brought fans to Kpop. But forget all those.
I’ll tell you why I was proud to vote for him to win this and why I think he deserve this so much: 1) save the children knitting campaign (2) Good library project for the blind. He may not have come up with a single or an album, but to me he did something that was more important than that. He promoted and participated in projects that helped the needy in the society and the world. If you are happy about that at least have the decency to be silent about it because he sure as heck was a great representative!

But this is a poll for K-pop so I think people should have voted for someone who released music during the time specified. If this was a poll for like representing the Hallyu wave or k-drama or charity I’d get it but this is for music and Yoochun didn’t release music so it doesn’t make sense. Both Junsu and Jaejoong released music and did the Tokyo Dome concert and do charity so I feel like they would make more sense. It’s not that I don’t love Yoochun. I think he’s brilliant and a great actor but he hasn’t really been doing that much music compaired to others so I don’t think this fits at all. I know people are probably going to hate me for saying this but I just don’t find this logical. And I repeat I’m not a Yoochun anti or anything like that. I really do love the guy. I just don’t think this fits.

@mickymong Urgh…Every poll is important and the votes shows fan supports….Last year Chunsas didn’t focus on this poll voting due to the fact that at the meantime Yuchun and his drama, Rooftop Prince have been nominated in all the categories. SDA is drama award event and so it’s big time for him. Also Chunsas wanted to guarantee his votes with 70% to outdo the uncertainty votes by organizers of 30%…
We are talking here of an artist, not necessarily a singer. He could be a painter or a poet too and if he is capable of bringing others to be aware of Kpop, whether directly or indirectly, isn’t that promoting Kpop as well? He may not have a comeback album or a world tour but he did have a concert though not as a solo performer but as a member of JYJ and he qualifies too under the category collaboration by way of his dramas and under ETC for well, just being his awesome self.
It may not seems logical for others including yourself but for those who discovered KPop through him and his dramas including myself, it is quite logical. No worries though. I don’t personally think you’re an anti PYC and since this is just a poll, please don’t be too logical about things. Just be happy that a member of JYJ won for two consecutive years.
Okay clearly I’m misunderstanding the purpose of this poll thinking that a person must actually be performing pop music to represent pop music. Going to the website it’s clearly a popularity poll. I don’t know why I tried to think about it logically. It’s a just great opportunity for fangirls to fangirl. It’s good that they have fans that are so dedicated.

these polls are nothing more than a popularity test and not an accurate one even , because who ever gets lucky enough to have their fans interested in voting not stop will win .
It’s nothing but a popularity contest you’re right. It’s frustrating because it is completely disregarding JYJ’s talents when something like this happens. He did not win it because of his musical talents or acting. He won it because the most people voted for him.

This polls are nothing but popularity polls really. I only voted once and I pick Chunnie just because he’s my bias.
But, I can understand why he’s winning…there’s many Chinnese fans voted for him since he becoming popular in the region thru
his drama. These are people who didn’t know what KPOP was before they watched kdrama with Chun in it.
Tbh tho, Jaejoong should be high up there with his solo rock album. But since this poll is not really relevant, I’m glad

Are you kidding me? Yuchun did absolutely nothing musical but JaeJoong and Junsu did. It should of been one of them who won. Yuchun dislikes receiving things… he actually thinks he deserves. This was nothing but a popularity poll and it will give a bad rep to JYJ fans. I feel bad for Yuchun and JaeJoong and Junsu. Kpop is music. Not dramas or movies. Dramas have their own voting polls separate from MUSIC for a reason. This was nothing more than a popularity vote. Yes Yuchun can sing but this poll was for kpop not acting. Two completely different things. I mean what is this telling JYJ? That you will just win due to popularity. It’s like a smack in the face to them and not paying heed to their talents. This should of gone to someone who actually released music this year.

He did do something musical after all he was in Tokyo dome concert, same with Junsu and Jaejoong. His contribution may be very minimal but it does not amount to nothing, to others it is something and to his fans, it is everything.
I do want my Jae win as well but your comment really upset me. Are you truly one of JYJ fans or from other groups ? Never ever feel shame of winning any poll/prize/award, I am proud of these 3 young brave wonderful guys.

I came to know KPOP years ago when I saw Jaejoong face looking at me through my friend’s computer screen’s wallpaper. And I was like WTF? Who the hell is that? And had to pick up my jaw from the floor. And I remember how my stupid friend laughing her ass off, because I had been mocking her facsination toward ‘lesser music’ ( I was into classic rock at that time). Then I searched for him on youtube and saw him singing accapella with the old dbsk. And I was doomed. Then the lawsuit happened and I saw this beautiful man fighting tooth and nail against that octopust company and yeah… JYJ got my loyalty since then.
I fully agree it’s popularity contest. JJ won last year eventhough he was not that active as a musician, so why not Yoochun won this year? And I will still vote for them eventhough they are doing nothing outside of their miitary duty.
To be honest, eventhough JJ is my bias I vote for Yoochun this time because I don’t want SM artists to win and Yoochun is leading. If I divided my vote to dear Joongie than homin would win. Ugh! Sorry Boojae.

@jenknight18 clearly explained why Yoochun deserves the title he won in a poll. I’m a fan from the PH and to tell you the truth before I fell inlove w/ actor Chun, boyyy I am a HARDCORE KPOP HATER. Like seriously what can you get from songs you can’t even understand a single line. But when I searched for his name, people&things related to him, from Wikipedia to YT and now Twitter, I get to appreciate music the Kpop fans are loving all this time. I may not be a KPop fan (it’s bc I am a JYJ fan who happened to be blocked in their own industry in SK) but I’m now appreciating Korean music, oh yeah, it’s because of the Park Yoochun who didn’t release a solo album, but brought thousand of fans to this “peaceful” fandom. So don’t you dare say he can’t represent Kpop, well, the percentage of votes says it all. BOW. 🙂
