Jaejong~ahh., . mianhe and gomayo. in JYJ, Jae is my bias but back TVXQ days, my bias is (not past tense) Secret Code. i enjoy watching/listening to this concert, i like each one of them here and i do get back to it from time to time. fell with no return with Jae, love chunnie’s long hair & miss his messy cool sexy look., junsu’s very childlike smiles yet shining perf, changmin’s fair share and u-know who looks like my son.
now that i listened to it live Secret Code version, Kiss the Baby Sky, a beautiful song indeed (like it more than Kiss Shita Mama Sayonara. Chunnie has gift composing, he should do more and come up with his own album and OFC, contributions for JYJ album.
the thing of the past can never be forgotten, only the shades of emotions vary as time pass. it’s a fact DBSK can never be together again as a singing group, like a broken glass, impossible to mend. but someday (who knows) they can sing together, only their hearts will allow this to happen. JYJ is in journey, i’m going with them and wish them goodness together. for old time sake, let’s enjoy the music! 🙂

I agree with you. This is a wonderful song, it’s vintage Chunnie and he deserves to have it back. Perhaps at some point it will become available to be bought. If SM falls, as they righteously deserve to do, they will try to hedge the inevitable by selling part or all of their publishing catalog. It’s happened before countless time, it’s not out of the range of the possible that Yuchun could one day buy his songs written during that era back again if he really wanted to.

Baby Sky was done under AVEX, not SM. If I’m not mistaken, Yoochun has considerable copyrights to this song. I remember it being quoted as one of his contributable financial assets as it was used as a theme song for a Japanese program.
But I’ve said all along, I would be preferable for them to get their copyrights for all their work, no matter who it is under. But this is an unfortunate side-effect of an arbitration settlement as opposed to an outright court decision. Null and void contract, never legally existed, catalog up for grabs.
I think you’re right about the copyright. From what I recall, he was very surprised at the size of the royalty cheque he received for this song. I believe that this was one of the factors that prompted the split from SM. It showed just how badly they were being cheated.

The cesspool known as SME is always going to be one of those unbelievable fairy tales. Company promises wonders, fame, fortune, glamour, only to snag your behind on some fly paper. Once you are stuck on it, you’re pretty much screwed. But if you have the strength and the fortitude to get yourself off of it, do it! Don’t hesitate, don’t stop, keep going!
For all that the guys have to endure, it is still better than being stuck on that fly paper at SME. But everything is a lesson to be learned. They now know what not to do ever again! I hate like the Dickens that they won’t be able to get those copyrights and royalties, but at least what they do for themselves now, will be theirs for the rest of their lives. Nice to be seen 🙂 I’ve been keeping an eye on things (especially that bright, shining, sun-hot boy burning down Seoul at the moment) but decided to step away from the Sturm und Drang for awhile.
Since this seems to be the post for rampant speculation, how’s this one — part of the settlement was the return of the copyrights. It would make sense that’s why Jj’s nudging us toward a JYJ written song. We may not know for sure until the next JYJ concert when they finally do a version of “Shelter” arranged for three voice, (I know you’re lurking out there, Jaejoong, sweetie. 😉 Hint, hint. ) but that would be the final and, in my opinion, the ultimate victory in this long struggle.

Now that’s speculation I could wrap myself around. I will keep a good thought on that one. Not going to ask what your sources are, but this would make my day! It would make sense that the legal team would accept the arbitration settlement on those grounds. Because they literally had SM by the short hairs. SM was drowning in dropping stock prices, and wanted to get out of this stranglehold. Yes, that would be the ultimate icing on the cake! It was all that I was hoping for to be honest.

Yes it is a good song but I stopped listening to anything by DBSK and TVSQ due to SM will benefit. I choose to support JYJ all the way.

I think listening to Kiss the Baby Sky does not necessarily mean supporting SM. For me it’s just appreciating this beautiful music which was created by someone I deeply admire. It may be owned by someone else now just because of some crappy copyright issue but it came from the heart and mind of the composer. It’s Yoochun’s song and it’s beautiful.

I am sorry for you, but you’re not right. Many years ago I used to sing in a classic choral and I know what I’m saying. The TWO have good voices for backing vocals. But they have a huge problem as duo singers. The tonalities of their voices are too close and too high (both tenors). This is bad because they cannot build the harmony of a song. And they need (and hired, as we all can see) a bunch of backing vocals, including a rapper. JYJ doesn’t need that. There is Junsu for high notes, Jaejoong for the middle in principal (but he has a very large ambitus, going from low notes to very high notes) and Yoochun as baritone and rapper.
See the difference? It’s a huge one. JYJ, as individuals, without backing vocals, proved their quality and value on stage. But what would TVXQ2 be without backing vocals? THIS is the question.
Of course, as 5 on stage, no one could see the difference. But after they split up, it’s so obvious…

I used to sing in a choir, and choral groups too! hi fellow gleek! I completely agree with you, the current tvx2 both have excellent backing voices, ones that blend beautifully and add richness to a group ( just like me back in the day- i was never cut out to be a solo singer- sobs) Changmin does have his cool very high falseto screams which bring some sparkle to their work. But neither have the very interesting or compelling voices that Jae and especially Junsu have. And Yoochun’s rich deep chocolate sound grounds them. Which is why Im a fan of JYJ, and not of tvx2. Well that and they are just so deliciously lovable.
I secretly would love Jae and Chunface to record a duo album. I think their different colors would blend exquisitely, Jae’s lovely silky smooth sound and Yoochun’s warm chocolate.

Ladies – Let’s go easy on the OT5s. As the days, weeks, months and years go by and there is NO indication that what they want is going to happen, it must be hard to keep their illusions going. There’s nothing to “deal with” that I can see. Yuchun was in DBSK, now he’s a member of JYJ. He wrote the song as a member of DBSK, then he left that group and became a member of JYJ. Is there really anyone who is disputing that? I think you may be imputing an attitude and an agenda that seems in fact to be your own.

It just saddens me that JYJ is seemingly not allowed to enjoy their own memories without people trying to shove their beliefs, opinions, or delusions down their throat.
They have a right to their past, they have a right to reflect back and enjoy the good memories. Lets be honest, there WERE good memories that even I as a longtime fan still cherish.
Accept that both sides have moved on and can still look back and enjoy their own history.
Personally, I’m happy if JYJ members are able to recall happier memories and great songs they contributed to despite the sore and open wound they experienced. That’s called: HEALING.
It is comforting, at least for me, to know Jaejoong, Yuchun, and Junsu are finally getting, or perhaps already arrived, at the point where they can look back and smile.

After the totality of events of the last 3 years, I have a hard time imagining how the members of JYJ and their fans are supposed to “look back and enjoy their history.” SM has taken care of any hope of that happening by their concerted effort to publically disparage, shun and ruin the members of JYJ. When one knows the history, it becomes difficult to do that.

I love Kiss the Baby Sky and I listen to it on my DVD Tohoshinki The Secret Code, so how does that benefit SM? However, I do love even better the live performance in Tokyo Dome. I still imagine in my mind every detail of that performance. I thought there were about 100,000 people packed there. I can see in my mind JJ starting to sing even before he climbed up on his carousel. He didn’t hear his name when it was first called coz he was talking to the audience, Chunnie had to call him out a second time. This was their last song and Chunnie was sick at that time. When he went back on stage, he did his rapping and when he started singing he broke in the middle. Changmin was just coming to the stage and realized what happened, immediately took over and covered for him. That is how much every member cared for each other. This is history and it cannot and should not be erased. I think the bad memories are about the management and the company but the five shared their life and the memories they made cannot be erased but can only make one feel sad and regret what happened later on. Since the split I do not listen to the other two because to me JYJ were always the voice, the face and the music of DBSK and it is so unfair that they cannot claim their own creations. With JJ I am nostalgic about the beautiful songs of those days. I cannot forget Waserunaide, Summer Dream or Forgotten Season.

Let’s not deny the boys their voice to reminisce their past…or use their recollections as cause to fight between fandoms. Their past is part of their lives and they have the right to look back to those memories. We should respect that and take it as it is…they are today JYJ and that is the reality … we all need to respect that! Recognize them for the artist they’ve evolved into and support them for who they are today!

It’s sad see how fans can’t understand that even though they were in the same group some years ago, they in different ones nowadays but it doesn’t mean that they should hate each other neither :(((( There’s nothing wrong in him hearing this song. It’s a pretty song that he used to sing and enjoy. He once said that he never regreted of making any of his tattoos. That’s how i know that he’d never regret his past. DBSK time gave him lot of good memories and friends, it was responsible for making his dream come true. Every piece of it it’s meaningful to him and we should respect. It’s his feeling that matters after all, not ours.

Honestly, I would not dream of hating anyone. But I admit it makes me tired when OT5s show up at the slightest provocation to harangue us here over a lot of nonsense that just makes no possible logical sense after 3 years of JYJ having moved on and having said countless times that JYJ is now their future. There is NO WAY they would ever go back to SM. Homin is signed exclusively to SM for many years to come. They claim they like that just fine. But aside from that, there’s no way they can do anything but follow SM’s dictates to them. But they all do believe that supporting all five, no matter what they do, is the most important. Not all OT5’s are the same. Just saying. All this infighting between OT5’s vs JYJ fans vs Homin fans has gone on long enough. How can we truly support them, when all we do is fight? Support them the right way and just ignore those fans that are trying to cause issues. I know we want to protect our boys but no amount of fighting will ever stop them. My only question to all those who are so heartwrenching into having 5 together again or certain pairings loving the hell on one another, is this: Are you investing the same amount of energy, time, in pestering the other 2-fifths of the 5 and their fan forums, or are you doing this only to JYJ and their fans? …because if you only do this to the 3-fifths, then you are nothing but a bully towards the 3-fifths….needless to say that your actions/ words resemble those of a bully regardless if you are pestering the 2-fifths or 3-fifths or all 5 (and their respective fans). But if you are a bully, deep inside you already know this, because this is how thrive. I hope you find your peace and direct all this energy you have to smth more beneficial to you and the rest of us.
