After 4 dramas, he’s finally taking on the challenge of acting on the big screen. In Bong Joon Ho’s ‘Sea Fog’, he will act the role of Dong Shik, a crew on a smuggling ship who protects his loved one.
It can be said that Park Yuchun easily completed the transformation from idol “Micky Yuchun” to actor “Park Yuchun”. Selecting attractive works, acting roles that were suitable for himself, showing stable acting skills; if we were to add one more secret ingredient, it would be his very natural face and expressions. He does not have any awkward tones nor burdensome eye expressions. Without any cosmetic surgery, he already possesses a sculptured beauty with a natural jawline. He gives an honest and pure impression, with bright eyes that have deep emotions. He is very good-looking but at the same time, versatile, and so he can create emotional and touching scenes with middle-aged actresses. There are actors whose good looks overshadow their acting skills, but Park Yuchun is the kind of actor that has excellent acting skills with a face that has “performance virtues”. To sum it up, he has a superb face for an actor.
After acting in 4 dramas, he’s finally taking on the challenge of acting on the big screen. In Director Bong Joon Ho’s production ‘Sea Fog’, he will act the role of Dong Shik, a crew on a smuggling ship who protects his loved one. Thanks to his aristocratic good looks, he has acted as a 2nd generation chaebol, a scholar and royalty, but now he has to make a transformation that is out of this norm. From a stylish man with dignity, warmth and passion, to a coarse seaman who speaks dialect, Park Yuchun’s face is already piquing everyone’s curiosity.
Actor Park Yuchun’s trademark face
In the recent MBC drama ‘Missing You’, the scene where Han Jung Woo and Lee Soo Yeon returns home, in that short scene where he is lying on the quilt, Park Yuchun’s many different faces can be seen — the determination of protecting his first love whom he has found, the blank look of exhaustion, up to the embarrassment of trying to get a kiss. This is why this scene was chosen instead of the one where he was crying in the shower room which caused many females to cry together with him.
Exact resemblance! James McAvoy
In the movie ‘Atonement’, James McAvoy acted as Robbie who is heartbroken over his first love. He and Park Yuchun are very similar; both have eyes that can move female hearts. Although he has that special disposition and manliness that is distinct in British actors, he has the occasional mischievous look that spreads lethal charm. He is also an expert in using his tears to stimulate the maternal instinct in women. The two of them are similar in many ways.

isnt that actor lucky to be compared to yuchun! meet mr awesome whom you are likened to!
Very poignant observations. These are also the reasons I think Yoochun has a bright future in acting. His natural demeanor is very versatile and adaptable to whichever role he’s taking. I look forward to watching him take on a completely different role in Sea Fog.
True that! He has a very expressive face.
@love
*poke* Hello dear friend!!
Yup, he does own a very expressive face.. that’s what sets him apart from the rest, I guess.
Exactly. LOL I think when on online, you’re offline, and vice versa.
*POKE*
@love
Aww~ does that mean we are not meant for each other??? 😦 *so sad!*
lol~
Lol. We are the moon and the sun, night and day. That’s the stuff of epic romance, man!
park yoochun’s expressive eyes say everythying without a single word! yoochun’s simplicity in aspects make him so unique. like what i’ve said before and many times, park yoochun is great and talented actor of this generation in South Korea!
I know he’ll do a great job in this upcoming project cause he is PARK YOOCHUN one of the JYJ members
Oh yesssss Yoochunnieee…….. This article has precisely described my view towards Yoochun. Precisely, every words, right to the T !!!! I can’t say it in more correct words than this writer. Oh, how I want to bear hug the writer !!!!
I love him so much, I have to admit, I watched his dramas with mixed feelings. I was consumed with jealousy to see him loving those women, the lead actresses, so dearly in those drama. LOL at my own stupidity.
“..if we were to add one more secret ingredient, it would be his very natural face and expressions. He does not have any awkward tones nor burdensome eye expressions. Without any cosmetic surgery, he already possesses a sculptured beauty with a natural jawline.”
Ah~ so SPOT ON!!! Couldn’t agree more. Natural is Park Yoochun! <333333
Natural look, natural acting, natural man.. good for my eyes, great for my health~ xDDD
I hope they show it here in the states or allow us to purchase and stream. I do not want to miss his depute
this post sums up everything true about Park Yoochun as an actor. from SKKS, where i first saw him (and i didn’t know who he is then), he delivered his role well (didn’t know too it’s his first acting role). knowing JYJ through him and becoming their fan, watching his dramas proved that from being an idol, he is reborn as a natural actor and this path i think (for me) suits him best than conquering the music stage like before. watching k-dramas since 2003, i’ve seen the versatile/tested acting in the likes of Lee Byung Hun, Jo In Sung (since Memories of Bali), Song Il Gook (Jumong & Sea God), and catching up along with them for me is Park Yoo Chun, and the latest potential/natural young actor on the rise Lee Jong Suk. only second in line for me are the popular older actors Song Joong Ki (presently in MS) Hyun Bin, also Kim Nam Gil.
“He does not have any awkward tones nor burdensome eye expressions.” this line admittedly what sets him natural than my bias, Kim Jae Joong when it comes to acting. Jae has expressive eyes but he has yet to learn control, being too good-looking doesn’t fit all the time being actor (actors whose good looks overshadow their acting skills). but potential does count, given good project and direction, Jae can also go a long way. in the mean time, PYC leads 😀
Chunnie, please don’t forget you’re a singer too. we need to hear songs from you (don’t waste your talent like thin air) and it will be no harm if you stay the killer-idol image you have (it’s alright to ruin for film sake only) 😀
Yeah, Jaejoong’s doll like looks is a boomerang for him sometimes. I prefer JJ as a singer, he’s unbelievably talented in this field. But yeah, given the right project he’ll shine too. I would like to say that Chunnie is better off as an actor, but Chunnie loves composing music. So, hey, why not both.
Completely agree with what you’ve written about YooChun and JaeJoong. And indeed, YooChun-ah, don’t forget about singing and especially composing! I can’t get enough of your Japanese songs, so I would love to hear some new ones! 🙂
Excelently said!!
Especially the part in “I miss You” with his many faces, that was like the cutest scene everrr!! ^^♥
Cant help falling for his lethal charms, smile, dimples and eyes every single time,oh dearr…haha.. 😀
I like James Mcavoy…esp in Atonement and Becoming Jane. Pretty good actor. If the writer thinks Chun and him are similar… well, hurray for Chun!
After finally forcing myself to watch Ms Ripley, I must say that Chun’s acting improved tremendously in the Rooftop Prince. More natural and varied expressions and confidence seen. I was able to read the emotions on his face. Cant wait to see how he transform himself into rough sailor Dongshik. I’m hoping for a complete transformation where I don’t see any traces or mannerisms of Chun or his past characters in Dongshik.
So far he has been smart to choose different roles so that he doesnt get typecast. In RTP, you can see he can play both serious and comedic roles. Hopefully, in future, he will get a role in a Hollywood movie so that not only the name Park Yuchun will be known but JYJ as well. One way to showcase their talent and music to the world with all the bulls#%t ban that is happening.
woah, I love the way they described about him..It just same thought with me everytime I introduced him to my friends and tell them why I love and adore him so much! To sum it up, he has a superb face for an actor <—THIS!
oh well, I loved the scene where Han Jung Woo and Lee Soo Yeon returns home too 😀
and chun will speak dialect in seafog, I just can't wait for that..is it Busan dialect?
Rilanna I want to hug you for posting this great observation to our well loved Yoochun what you have said is so true. I was so fascinated by Yoochun because as what I observed mostly of good looking actors can’t act that well but Yoochun is an exemption that’s many fans love him so much
Tumpak!!! 😉
You’ve got the correct words to describe Chunnie in terms of his excellence in acting, nothing more to say…
But i agree also to others…please Yoochun-ah don’t forget your first love w/c is singing…we miss you serenading us… 😉
