After fans request Junsu to sing old TVXQ songs, all the sudden SM want to remake TVXQ old songs and have SM juniors to sing it. (such as EXO and Shinee) Then now Yunho wearing tattoos on his fingers and neck like JJ. SM said during settlement the reason they agree to settle was that they didnt want JYJ to tarnish TVXQ image any longer. But why copying of image concept now? Are stylists they hire for their idols lack of better concept?
the remake of the old songs was inevitable to be honest… I mean as sad as it is, it was kind of common sense for me since its their 10th anniversary. I did notice the copying of the tattoos though- which is kind of worrying… I mean why such a direct attempt at copying?
While JYJ have developed so much, Ho-min, it seems to me, have been doing the same thing over the years. Now this unabashed direct copying!! I don’t believe Yunho or Changmin (CM also has tattoos on his neck, right?) was willing to do it. Do they have not the slightest say/freedom under their contract?
Was there a message there with such total copying? Some sort of a challenge?
SM&HoMin clearly copied Jaejoong, with the tatoos on the neck especially with the tatoos on the fingers. I feel sad, because CM and YH didn’t leave with JYJ.
It’s not a surprise to find SM copying JYJ cuz it’s been going on for years. And not just SM but other idol companies too. Like how after junsu succeeded in musical, suddenly there were massive idols going for musical actors though I believe about 95% or more of those idols failed or didn’t get the spotlight like junsu. Then there’s the movie “The Day” from JYJ and SM releasing their SM family movie soon after JYJ. And the one that pissed me off the most was JYJ Membership Week vs SM Art Exhibition where SM not only copied the idea but one of their painting had the exact position and clothes as JYJ’s In Heaven pics.
Then there’s several others though these might be considered as copying or not depending on you. Like homin copying junsu’s song “lullaby” with their song i think it was called good night.
It’s really frustrating to see this happening to JYJ but at the same time I find this hilarious b/c it’s obvious that SM’s been trying all these years to bring down JYJ and prove that JYJ can’t live without SM but the reality shows just the opposite of what they wish for. SM can’t help but envy JYJ’s talents and ideas LOL
My personal thoughts:
Homin maybe intentionally attempt to challenge JYJ.
But what kind of competition do they attempted to, since they are the one who copied. By default, it is showing that they are the one who lose.
Still their fans claimed that it is not copying. Which is a total lie. It is as bright as the sun in a sunny day that Homin copied the concept of finger and neck bodypainting. And to the point that they used Stefani Uncle as their model (the girl in Junsu’s Uncommitted MV).
Does Homin that insensitive as to not realize the simple logical painful truth? It is a given that both group, JYJ vs Homin will always be a subject of comparison. As much as they don’t want to admit it, people, reviewers, will compare your works and achievements. So, by default, it is better to avoid copying anything. Even if it is an order from the company, still they should have at least a thing to say about it. Weren’t they the one who personally and sanely decided to stay in the company?
About the remake of old songs, I don’t have any problem with that. They can do whatever they want about it, since it is already happened that the old song’s exclusive publishing rights belongs to that company. Nothing anyone can do about it. And none of those remakes can achieve the same feels that JYJ’s vocals already contributed in the original versions, anyways, so I DON’T CARE. But, I hope they still have a little shame left as not to dare touching JYJ’s old compositions.
just I saw the music video if homin (something) I knew at the first moment that the tattos are just to imitate jaejoong, it is very clear. so no useful of the saying (we dont imitate JYJ jaejoong).. any how I still love HoMin.. but I dont like their following to their agency with everything -__-. cuz they can say no clearly to SM if something going wrong.
I don’t think they will or want to say no, bcz for me they are strict order followers and I don’t mean to be mean, that’s what I think is their personality. Besides, it’s always easier to follow orders then to be creative themselves.
In my ( probably) misguided attempt to be fair I tried to watch the video with an open mind. Lots of Kpop artists have fake tattoos now I told myself, hi Taeyang in Ringa Linga. Lots of Kpop artists have western models in their videos too. Maybe using Stefanie U in the video is just a coincidence?
I read Stefanie U’s twitter feed and I got the feeling that Homin had no idea who she was, but also that she liked Junsu better as a person. He speaks better english then them! He is more friendly and less shy! He showed her the Mirotic video?! ( that made me a bit sad actually- Junsu our sweetest darling baby, Mirotic was great but it’s not the pinnacle of your career. ) I am sure that SM who hired her know exactly who she worked with before.
However the fake tattoos are very very “Just another girl” inspired. There is no missing it. They are clearly coping JJ. The lyrics to the song are repulsively sexist,(you should try harder, you aren’t good enough!) and the women are treated like objects, they are actually a painting on the wall!
Plus and possibly worst of all it’s boring, the rope dance is boring, the silly sexist lyrics are boring, the song is boring. The styling of the models and of Homin is boring. It’s trying to be cool and artsy and safe at the same time. To be cool and artsy is the opposite of being safe! Sorry SM, sorry Homin this is a total failure for me.
@ makiforjyj
big words, specially about creativity..!
actually, I like homin’s songs as well as jyj’s, as well as TVXQ5’s in the past..but to be honest, you are right!
jyj can create a lot of what around they present to their fans (us), which not homin do, who depend on LSM with every detail from the concept of the MV to the final look of the song and the album.. which make me angry really.
anyhow, I wanna put a note; Yunho in the MV shows his fingers with the letters exactly like JJ did befoe,, hooooh -___-..
Anybody knows the update after Korean Fair Trade Commission warnings in June/July 2013? What further action has they taken? t is going to remain judgment in paper only?
we don’t have any updates about it yet. but they do have a twitter account : @kftcnews (https://twitter.com/kftcnews).
will it be a wise/good idea to ask them via twitter???
Is there the english version of “JYJ Republic – the book by the fans to the fans”? Where can international fans buy it?
SM,obviously do not care for their artists individual talents or capacities which could be surprising when they are left to do or try what’s on their minds.I’m sorry for Yunho and Changmin cause I know how bright and talented persons they were and are, wish they could see the truth and have courage to tear down the walls of SM’s dictatorship following their 3 brave hearted friends. My heart broke and I’m disappointed when in their 10th year they( both of the groups) didn’t send congratulation notes(if it wasn’t done secretly)to each other at least to show proffessional respect. After all, this anniversary was meant for 5 of them.I don’t want to believe their friendship ruined to that amount,it was really sad to witness this and once again I was more than mad to SM for causing these all.Besides, there’s no need copying others, just the trust and good intensions would bring out the true talents in each person eventually but isn’t this company always makes mistakes already..just wishful thinkin.. 😦
Why should JYJ show even professional respect to two former friends who have lied about them, repeatedly publicly insulted them, posed for twitter pics with the SM artists who bashed Junsu on twitter & who continue to kiss SM’s ass everyday while SM keeps on trying to destroy JYJ? I know OT5’s want to believe otherwise, but love can only take so much abuse before it is either stomped out, killed or just gives up. Difficult situations either bring out the best or the worst in people, & imo the break-up of TVXQ brought out the best in JYJ, & the worst in Homin. To me they’ve shown themselves to be fake, shallow, selfish, deceitful users who will do what’s best for them at the expense of best friends. I’m glad JYJ seem to have moved on because they deserve much better than people who will kick them in the face & stab them in the back if they get something out of it… We don’t really know what JYJ think of Homin anymore, but the JYJ members have integrity & honesty, as well as genuine respect (not facile kiss ass insincerity) for others & as such may very well not want people like Homin in their lives anymore.
*Sorry if I seem harsh, or bitter. I made the mistake of checking out the AllKpop article on JYJ’s 10 year anniversary & have had a gutfull of OT5’s complaining about JYJ not mentioning Homin or accusing Junsu of being passive-aggressive cause he thanked Jaejoong & Chunnie by name…
Hi Sapphire, 100% agree with you.
@Sapphire
Yes I completely agree with you! 😀
I never go to AllKpop but just hearing what had happen from you is enough to make me go mad and feel disgusted at those people ughhh
Personally I see it that JYJ is coming on top and they see that and riding on their success. It is sad to see that when a large company lose their creativity and see the success of the other,s they need to copy. To my point of view not did they massively copied JYJ, they also copied a part of the mv of TOP new song, regarding the girls. The more people realise this, the more credibility they will lose.
In a way I am glad this happen, because it show that JYJ are matured and riding to the very top of their career has artist, also surpass their opponent and that JYJ are the Kings. : )
yet,in the name of the art and entertainment industry,I want things go better for every entertainer,JYJ works for this also, they are trying to change everything better for others too..love our boys huge!
Does anyone know wether Cassiopeia will ve mentioned in the JYJ Republic book? As it is said the book will be about the support the fans gave JYJ after the split, but a lot of my Cassie friends are wondering wether they will be mentioned, because no one can deny that directly after the split fans of all 5 were trying to keep everything together and supported the boys separately even though theywere OT5s. I’d find it pretty sad if that part would be skipped.
We know that JYJ will be joining the army in 2014. It is sad, but it is inevitable, since it is government’s order to all South Korean men. Just to let my heart feel a little bit easier, does anyone knows what kind of live will JYJ face in the army?
Since it is a military training, all men environment, it is very likely that there will be some kind of mental (or maybe up to physical) bullying. If it does happen, to what extend will it be? Does anyone ever heard about the story during the army live? Share please!!!
If you go to you tube, there are two videos you can watch. The site is called, ” my korean husband” and the two guys talk about their army experiences and give you a feeling for what it was like. I bet you can search my korean husband and find the videos.
I watched the videos recently, the two guys are funny and sweet. They are married to Australian wives and speak english in the videos. The videos are called military service, part one and two. The saddest part was when they talked about missing their family while in the military.
Guys, Jaejoong is releasing the repackage soon right? Is there a way we can get his new song no.1 on music shows? Last year, Only Love charted at no 16 right? Maybe we can do some project this time, to get his new song on the repackage to win.
WHAT THE HELL! I am now going to rant and rave. They now have chocolate similar to J chocolate, what are they trying to do, do they want Jaejoong to talk about this physically or are they taking the Piss and making a joke out of it…. sorry for swearing, are they mad. I just don’t understand what kind of reaction they want from J. This is so obvious and now it gonna get twisted.. OMG well let me get back to myself. jeez ..not there yet..
sorry for rant and raving actually I am wrong apparently the chocolate was a gift that mnet bought from the chocolate supplier has jaejoong use hold on why not a different design why use the same design has J knowing full well their will be controversary. hmmmmm ah well
It’s ok Maria, let it out. Go ahead and rant if you need to.
Let me send you some internet hugs and love.
I think everyone wants a piece of the Jaejoong effect. I didn’t see this mnet chocolate, but if the are using JJ’s design of course they want attention. And probably controversy along with publicity.
Thanks Cheryl Lol, here is internet hugs back, I ranted because they keep on taking ideas from them and using as their own, I guess has along they have us, their fans, we will defend them 100% and why use the same supplier anyway.. thanks for internet hugs very much needed.
Honestly, I think this SM work because MNET ask that company to sponsor. Of course SM can’t say that they buy the chocolate. Fan will enraged. But what is bother me? Why ask the same company that make Jaejoong chocolate? Why didn’t ask another company. Why same design? Why pick chocolate? Can you give macoroon/lollipop/roses ? Too much coicident that you can’t help that SM always copy JJ.
This pretty much sum up my feeling on SM and the chocolate whose idea we know came from Jae.Sharing the compilation here not to make a fan war but to put up the factual truth from SM
Compilation list of things SM has copied from JYJ
(I originally posted this on Tumblr but I’m going to post it here as well)
I’m taking the time to make this list because I don’t think people understand the severity of the situation; the lengths SM actually goes to to rip ideas off from JYJ.
So not only has this company treated their idols absolutely horridly throughout the years (but thanks to JYJ, the FTC ordered SM to revise all their contracts), but it actually goes as far as to monitor everything JYJ are doing in their own personal careers.
The following list has the exact dates of each event/product released.
JYJ – THE DAY (February 19th, 2012)
SM – I AM. (April 30th, 2012)
JYJ: https://31.media.tumblr.com/1ed4a5a3e44e43c042e8ed01d2f556c6/tumblr_inline_mzl3j0rKUa1rfcgkz.jpg
SM:

JYJ Exhibition (JYJ Membership Week 2012) (June 28th 2012)
SM Art Exhibition (August 10th 2012)
JYJ:

SM:

JYJ – Mahalo Photobook (August 2012)
Super Junior – Mahalo Photobook (December 6th 2013)
JYJ:

SM:

And most recently is the thing that is bothering me the most:
Kim Jaejoong – WWW Concept (October 29th 2013)
Homin – Something Concept (January 6th 2014)
Jaejoong:

Homin:

That’s not all.
Kim Jaejoong’s Cafe JHolic Chocolates (December 13th 2013)
Homin’s Chocolates (January 17th 2014)
Jaejoong:

Homin:

This isn’t ~proof that DBSK will reunite and that JYJ and Homin are in contact~ which is what seems to be the misconception a lot of OT5 have.
This is simply a tyrant of a company throwing jabs at three talented men who had the courage to stand up against said company for themselves and do what was right, what was better for their own personal lives.
This is the reality of the situation, and I want people to take it for what it is instead of having so many delusions about it.
Do you think JYJ are happy to know that a company who caused them so much pain for so many years are stooping as low as to recycle their ideas?
No.
So think thrice before you tweet your nonsensical OT5 sentiments to Jaejoong (or Junsu). cr @Jaejoongnomics
So, they’ve been copying our babies for years?? Actually, I didn’t really aware for that but when I wached Something MV, it was…….kinda similar to JJ *sigh*
Though I hate SM the most, at least I still had some respect to their artists (esp HoMin) but, now sorry to say that I don’t respect them anymore -,-
I would also like to add about how K-POP Star Exhibition copied JYJ (specifically JYJ’s “In Heaven”)
The words are in Korean but I think everyone can understand just by looking at the pictures

Ok …now THIS is ridiculously obvious …who drew these ?
SM can copy unpunished because they know TVXQ can have all the media exposition they want and JYJ, no (we all know that sad reality).
So, when the audience see TVXQ/SM products they think “Oh, how creative they are”, because it is the first time the audience see these ideas.
“Thanks” to SM the lack of JYJ’s media exposition (TV, radio, newspapers) in Korea is the key in this situation.
SM likes to feel what it is to have the power in their hands.
When they were DBSK5 I used to like them as a group, although almost immediately, I started distinguishing and responding to the voices of Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoo Chun. Changmin had a high pitch and was to do the high notes, but when they sang Tonight, it was Jaejoong who went the highest. U Know praised himself as the best dancer and rapper but in the MV where they competed with Junsu in the rain, it was JS who won. As concerns rapping, both JJ and YC are as good as him. Regarding creativity, despite SM curbing their expression, JYJ composed songs and wrote lyrics for DBSK5 which HoMin use till now. But what we love JYJ most for, in addition to their great talents, is the integrity of their character. I never heard them tell lies or speak badly of others or trying to ride on someone else’s success. The other two were lying thru their teeth but knew they could not stand on their own feet so preferred to stay sheltered. At times I even wonder if the contracts of these two were same as those of the other three, considering that one of them comes from a family of lawyers. Anyway, whether this is the case or not, these are my own doubts, especially after I read somewhere last year that they are partners in that company.
Recently, on YT, I came across DBSK Summer Time. I never ever listen to the two, but I thought it was the old DBSK so, for old time’s sake, decided to listen to it. To my shock, it was those two running around the stage, pouring water on themselves and singing very happily. I was disgusted. How could they enjoy so much to perform a song that belonged to all 5? To me that was sacrilege. While JYJ have matured with dignity, created so many new things and diversified into different fields, earning a name as composers, singers, actors, designers those two still rely on others and so it’s easier for them to be copy cats. I have now lost whatever little respect I had left for them. The sad thing is that since JYJ lack visibility, whatever DBSK(2) do is seen first and taken for granted that it is their creation. Keeping the name may be legal but to me this is irreverence to the great name of DBSK (5) and if they had any dignity, they should come up with their own name.
Nothing is better than the original-JYJ- the ones with the X factor. They are the trend setters. All the copycats and the pirates of ideas could sell for a while but would surely look pale if placed side by side with the original. I’m just very proud and happy that I love and support the best entertainers, lyricists, composers, designer, actors who would stand the test of time even with the military service disruption. For sure it will not be only me but many others who feel the same way as I do. I believe in JYJ…I couldn’t care less with the others… -reading about them, watching them or hearing their music is a big waste of my time. As long as I have JYJ’s CDs, dvds, photobooks, magazines, etc I’m good and well satisfied- a happy camper :D.
I wonder what happen to homin when their contract with sm end.
