Showstopping Idols Who Are Necessary For K-Drama
JYJ’s Yoochun will make his return to television in February 2014 with the drama Three Days. Yoochun is an idol whose acting talent is so well honed, many K-drama fans who are not fans of K-Pop do not realize he is an idol. As unrealistic as that sounds, there are many viewers of Korean drama, especially on an international level, who do not listen to K-Pop. Yoochun commands every drama that he is the male lead in. Rooftop Prince is one of the best examples of how the historical drama meets time jump fantasy genre can actually work. The success of this drama is greatly attribute to Yoochun.
[JYJ3 Note: omit parts unrelated to Yoochun]
Love Rooftop Prince!! Watching KDramas has lead me to KPop music…love them both! Love the talents of Park Yoochun!
Jaejoong should do another drama, too. One in which he is the lead and gets the girl!
Sunkungkwan Scandal was my intro to Yoochun, he was so sexy and cool I wanted to know more about him which led me to JYJ, so glad i found him and them! I am really looking forward to Three Days! Yoochun and JYJ FIGHTING!!!
Kdrama also led me to JYJ. I discovered JJ by watching Protect The Boss, this led me to fall in love with JYJ. I loved YC in RoofTop Prince!!!! This drama is one of my all time favorite!!!!
Off topic: I never understood what the difference was between someone being called an idol or being called a star. To me they are the same thing. In Korea they say you are an idol in America we say you are a star. Can someone tell me what is the difference is?
The following are just my thoughts and opinions. Again they won’t buy you Tony Moly CC cream or a Moldir hoodie! 😉
I think a star is any famous performer. I think that crosses cultures. An idol is different.
I think that Korean Idols are trained from an early age and supposed to be perfect in every way. I think that ” idols” are much like old time Hollywood stars, (l30s and 40s) the studio/company is king and dictates everything, what eat, drink, perform, say, wear, where to live and even when to go to sleep. Because of this idols have almost no artistic freedom.
I can’t imagine many western stars putting up with that for too long. Pink has a song about this, ” L.A told me, you’ll be a pop star, all you have to change is everything you are”.
I think that many idols can seem a little too perfect and stiff, like company robots. I know my Imo (auntie) prefers indie singers because of this cookie cutter perfection, which can seem insincere. There is a thriving Korean indie scene now and I wonder how much is a reaction against the idol system.
I think American or western boy bands are also manufactured in a somewhat similar way. But most western boy bands break away from this mold or break up. Justin Timberlake was an American idol but is now a star! Kim Junsu was also once an idol but is now a star!
Cheryl thank you so much for posting your very valid opinion. What you said I understand and agree with.
Thank you Flower, I’m still waiting for my Moldir hoodie from somewhere! Lol!
I meant to say that my Imo prefers Korean indie singers to Idol stars. Ops!
JJ and YC are now artists and stars to me as well.
i am grateful to have known about chunface long ago and be able to follow his careers in singing and now in acting. i love every fiber of this man and so proud of all he has done and looking so forward to what he has in store for us!
yup !! that right, I before only K-drama enthusiast, and not a lover of K-POP, but since watching Rooftop Prince .. don’t know why, I fell in love with chunie, whereas many Korean actors that I watch, but only yuchun , which can melt my heart ~
and because yuchun, I learned, K-Pop group “JYJ” .. when I know JYJ, I also finally hit their magic. # LOL
Thank you so much chunie, because you.. my days now, colored taste .. feel so much love from you guys,, JYJ Fighting !! and my yeobo ,YUCHUN Fighting !! ^__^
let’s not look at park yoochun because of his talent in singing and acting, but we must love this young man being kindhearted, hardworking, and good person. can’t wait to see his movie Sea Fog and tv drama Three Days
I like Chun in drama. But I love him more in serious movies. I don’t know in Korea, but in other places, moving from TV soap to big screen movie is a huge step up.
I’d like to see JJ in a new drama, but I enjoy him as a rock star too much, I want him to stay that way ^__^
through Chunnie I came to know the rest of JYJ memeber…Sungkyukwan Scandal was the first time seeing the Prince, his smile captured me as well his upright acting, from then on I became his fan and I love JYJ, they are the male group band that I adore so much and believe their awesome talent as a group or individually.
That is a beautiful picture! Those lips and those gentle eyes.
mmmmmmmmmmm yeah!
Yoochun really makes me crazy because of his acting skill & his choosing projects always wowed me! It is worth waiting, all we need is just a little patience 😆
