[NEWS] C-JeS Launches JYJ’s Commercial with 1 Billion Won Investment
JYJ is returning with a bang.
C-JeS Entertainment announced, “JYJ’s brand commercial began airing on July 21. This commercial has been scheduled to air during the ‘golden hours’ on each of the major channels and we have invested 1 billion won for it to be aired for the next three weeks with the same frequency as the other major companies’ commercials. Fans have been responding enthusiastically since the commercial began airing.”
The commercial production team stated, “The JYJ members have carried out individual activities in the last four years, climbing to the top in their careers through dramas, movies, musicals and solo albums. We wanted to express their passion and individuality as well as the synergy effect that they show when they’re together.”
C-JeS Entertainment rep stated, “This commercial is not a commercial to promote JYJ’s album or tour but to spread JYJ’s name as a brand. We will periodically produce commercials to spread the ability and image of JYJ as artists. This kind of artist brand commercial has never before seen in the entertainment industry and we believe it will be able to open a new prospect in the entertainment marketing.”

tbh, i’m kind of confuse about this ads. yes, JYJ has not been on tv/radio for so long (and for how many more only God knows), but i thought everybody knows that JYJ is a brand, it’s a group/idol group name, with quite convincing international popularity/fanbase, with numerous brand endorsements and global/asian region events ambassadorships still going on by their “JYJ” name. why not advertize the album and concert? because logically, advertize a new album and concert tour is the same as advertising the “JYJ” name, isn’t it? that makes more sense to me. *scratch head
but, it’s nice! hope the effort will be fruitful, which is i think getting more people to familiarize with “JYJ” name, not just the member..
To answer this..i think not many ppl know jyj is a brand..my korean friend was clueless when i said jyj..only responded to dbsk name..because jyj brand havent been promoted to the publics eye..i understand that they want more public recognition as JYJ by using this tactic
Yeah and for young people since they don’t remember Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoochun from DBSK a lot of them don’t know about JYJ since they haven’t had promotions on tv and they can’t appear on variety shows and stuff… I think this is an awesome idea
It’s the same thing. If you didn’t know who or what JYJ was after watching this, you’ll go and find out. When you do, you’ll encounter their new album and upcoming concert. So this is basically killing numerous birds with one stone.
You have to take into consideration who will be two years out of the gaze published so they must assert much more as a group and as a company I guess they’ll be doing some things for next year a photo book, dvd whatever that may be marketed while they are performing military service, well that’s what I think…

Yessss. A first for our top Korean group. Only JYJ! I applaud their publicist and ad agency or whatever they are called in their turf. This is loads better than politicians campaigning during election. A real genius move!
I really like the idea 🙂 In other modern countries, I think it’s common for artists or entertainers to constantly build up brand name, polish & widen their skills/portfolios (I love how they have independence attitude & freedom to express culture) so I’m surprised C-Jes is doing this concept in Korea where they have different culture & management system.
Hope JYJ & C-Jes continue to be innovator, obstacles seem to strengthen them even more..화이팅 ^^
1 billion won, I hope it benefits the three of them, not a waste of hard_earned money..
All these years, starting from the The Beginning album, there were a lot of false move (as in chess game) ,
hoping an expense of almost 1M USD really worth the hurt from JYJ’s pocket considering they will not be earning for 2 years.
As a tv viewer, I have not much retention of whatever commercials I’m seeing in tv, I hope Korean viewers will pay attention to this 20 secs. ads.
Not earning from active income, but revenue stream from passive income i think there will be a lot.. usually we spend abt 20% – 30% of the income for advertisement n marketing.. n here we are talking abt incomes made by 3 ppl… they made a lot….”1 4 all n all 4 1″..
Dont worry kris, our boys surely are well advised by team of professionals n professors friends or fans (remember 1 lady an economic prof who is a hardcore jyj fan that show jyj slide to her students – n isnt jholic design came from jae’s professor friend?) I like to think these professionals n professors being friends/fans will protect them like we ordinary fans…
brand awareness is to add value to jyj mark..

Oh I hope so that they are really getting professional advice this time, that’s a relief, from promo to marketing.
Hope they also figure it out how much album to print so there’s no more problem of out of stock and refund to fans this time..
you worry too much. advertising yourself in the prime time cannot be a waste of money. even if it turns this way, let’s not forget it’s the JYJ members who decided to take this money out of their pockets to invest in themselves in the long run!
instead of imagining the worst case scenarios, let’s support JYJ in what they are doing!
I’m just expressing from a tv viewer point of view, people’s retention of a 20 sec ad. 1M USD from JYJ’s own pocket, how can’t I be worried considering the circumstances? I’m not an expert but I’m trained that in every decision to take, you have to foresee the positive and negative outcomes, that’s why I state in my comment “I hope…” , I don’t get why “let’s support JYJ in what they are doing” needs to be mentioned. Is worrying equal to not supporting?
i don’t see how questioning or undermining JYJ’s decisions, even before they are implemented, is a support. if that’s not intention, i am sorry. i also worry about many things concerning JYJ’s activities, but i keep it to myself until i hear about eventual results. weighting the positive and negative aspects of a decison is up to the professional JYJ decided to trust and the members themselves, hence bearing the consequences.

I think they would be able to obtain more income on their asian tour so 1m investment wont be anything ..they be gaining more profit then 🙂
Spending soo much of their money…well, if it helps to keep them in the spotlight…….then its fine.
The only thing is….all that money spent is going into the pockets of the broadcasting companies…..yes those very people who are blocking JYJ and responsible for the broadcast ban….bcos they are in cahoots with that big bully whose name I shall not mention.
I think it is a brilliant idea to have an advertising blitz just to brand the name ‘JYJ’ on the three big broadcasting stations during the strategic prime time slots. The money will be taxed anyway, so why not use it to advertise themselves? Besides using it to smite these big 3 for refusing to let JYJ appear as a threesome in any of their entertainment programmes, it is also to mock SoMeone for their bullying tactics and underhanded manner. Two can play the same game. Fine if you do not want to showcase JYJ. JYJ will buy up your advertising slots and showcase themselves.

IMHO, I think this is a good marketing strategy, and a breakthrough. I mean JYJ haven’t been on music shows for years, general public may have forgot about them, only the hard core cassies stay and follow JYJ activities, and especially today there are lots of rookier groups with massive publications. 1 billion won is not much compared to the publications JYJ will get, it’s an investment. Plus, the ad is cool (y)
