KBS has announced the list of recently released songs that failed to satisfy the broadcast company’s criteria.
According to the results revealed on August 6, the banned songs include JYJ‘s “Just Us” and “Back Seat” from their second album, HyunA‘s “Blacklist” and “French Kiss” from her third solo album, and HA:TFELT‘s “Bond” from her first solo album. Overall, 14 tracks were deemed unsuitable for broadcast.
The lyrics of JYJ’s “Back Seat” were considered to be sexually suggestive, with the line “Put you on my back seat” referring to a possible relationship between a man and a woman.

Ugh, surprise surprise~
JYJ nor any artist should have to change the lyrics to a song! There’s something called an off button if you don’t like something!!!
Agreed! I’m sure they can promote other songs on KBS instead!
I guess my previous comment was deemed unfit. Is this what we’ve come to now?
I love JYJ but guidelines must meet guidelines. For instance Indian movies have a set of rules which must be followed or the movie will not be released. There’s a greater depth to their reasoning as sexual content influences younger teenagers. And considering how popular JYJ is, some young fans may follow the message of “put you on my back seat.” Although I do question to why Korean dramas + movies don’t follow these strict guidelines…
Guys, I love JYJ A LOT. No joke. But being blind-sighted is not healthy for JYJ or for us. These guidelines existed even before “Back Seat” was released.
@Bebe
You have to understand the context of this ban: it’s arbitrary and KBS has an agenda. Looking at their past history it is inescapable to see that the music program directors are in the back pocket of SM Entertainment. We’ve SEEN that in action for 3+ years now through their outrageous, blatant behavior, over and over again. So let’s not be blind to that. This ban is not about suggestive lyrics. That is nothing more than the latest convenient excuse.
Do you really think JYJ or C-JeS really expected it NOT to be banned? With everything else they’ve dealt with, why should they even care because it’s not like they were going to asked to perform on one of these music programs anyway.
C-JeS said they’re going to discuss if changing the lyrics is an option but frankly… if it were me… I wouldn’t bother.
I hope C-Jes was being sarcastic with that because JYJ definitely put this song out with zero f**k given .
imagine them changing the lyrics just to troll .
Put you on my bed sheets
bed sheets
bed sheets uh-woo-uh
Let you sleep
You don’t have to fight
Don’t be shy
Put you on my bed sheets
bed sheets
bed sheets
what ? … something wrong with that too ?
meme you should definitely send that suggestion to the agency and JYJ ~ looooove the changed lyrics, puahahahahahahah
Not in my book. 🙂
everything that JYJ does is always banned. But excuse me KBS it’s not like that are going to perform on stage. FYI have you forgotten the ban on JYJ… the more i hear all these the more i get angry and furious. And the world is not the same, it’s not so innocent anymore. Besides, JYJ are old enough to sing these type of songs. Sorry if some prople get offended..
I hope they don’t change it. KBS is probably just making an excuse to block them. So be it. JYJ doesn’t need to bow down to those people at KBS after all their unfair treatment of JYJ.
HHHAAAAAAAAAAA?!!! “referring to a possible relationship between a man and a woman.”
Stupidly ridiculous o.O
LOL @KBS just continue making ridiculous excuses, because no matter what JYJ won’t be on their music and variety show. /sigh
Pfffft the comment about how the line “Put you on my back seat” is “referring to a possible relationship between a man and a woman.” keeps making me crack up because what else could the song even be referring to other than a romantic relationship?
Although I’m a bit disappointed that “Back Seat” is banned, when aren’t moderately sexual songs banned from KBS? (And you also have to think about how KBS bans a lot of things for unreasonable reasons too like I remember how Akdong Musician’s “Galaxy” was banned… because the word “Galaxy”… which might cause listeners to believe that the duo were referring to the Samsung Galaxy phones.)
I’m quite fine with the way the song is right now so I hope if they change it, there won’t be a huge change at least.
They did the exact same thing to f(x)’s Red Light because of the word ‘caterpillar’ in the song might promote some damn company with the same name. Ugh when OBVIOUSLY THEY MEANT A METAPHOR FOR THE INSECT etc. Omg company’s can be soooo slow.
Lol…… why shd Cjes bother about changing the lyrics…not that KBS will let JYJ appear on tv anyway.
The other 2 stations approved the song for broadcast.
KBS officials need some activities on the backseat. Maybe they will chill after that.
Anyway, I’m hoping JYJ will make a second MV. Baboboy? Creation? Dad, you there?
creation would be an epic… as well as so so..hehe.. these two are my top favorite
Yes, Creation would be good.
I imagine an MV with JYJ at a location with breath taking scenery….. with the backdrop of the sea, and majestic cliffs…..to fit the lyrics.
Something similar to the MV by the Irish boyband WESTLIFE…..of their song “My Love” …that kind of scenery…..
Err…..well, or maybe something else more creative.
As long as there is a 2nd MV….or maybe a 3rd……lol…..
@nyc..seriously!!! that what i had imagined also..it might sound so cliche to others but anyway, i like the ideas.. the song seems to fit Disney-like movies or something like that..
Creation is really beautiful …. you’re right, Disney_like movies!
Baboboy would be epic. as seen during the membership week the choreography is so amazing – the audience reaction to it was crazy 🙂
if the other 2 station has approved the song, does it mean JYJ will appear on broadcast there? is there any info on that?
i like Letting Go better, or So so maybe…
I sincerely hope that the members will not change the lyrics. They are making music for their fans, not for the corrupt blockheads at KBS. They’ve made a genuinely great album, it’s going to sell through the roof. That’s all these music shows are about anyway, promoting a group so they can sell albums. JYJ will sell albums because they’ve made a great one, plain and simple. The word will get out. I am so over the music shows headache. JYJ have proved conclusively that they don’t need them to be super successful.
Calm down girls, this has nothing to do with the ban. SM was forced to change lyrics before, not only JYJ. Mirotic’s “under my skin” was changed to “under my sky” when they last came back as five, due to the same reason. Stupid, I know, but at least it’s not directed towards JYJ to restrict them further.
This will make sense if they had any intensions of letting the guys perform on broadcast.
It has nothing to do with performing. They have a blacklist for songs that they deem not suitable for youngsters, that’s all, it doesn’t matter if the group actually wants to perform the song or not. There are many things that are not allowed to be broadcasted in South-Korea, like for example terrestrial broadcast of Japanese television or music is illegal. Broadcast censorship is a serious thing in Korea, just in the last two years there are 2600 songs added to that blacklist by the South Korean Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. So no, it’s not directed towards JYJ, sorry.
Once again, this will make sense if KBS has any intention of broadcasting JYJ. Right now, this is just nonsense.
Once again, it has nothing to do with having intentions of broadcasting or not.
aigoo…
as if KBS would broadcast JYJ’s song even if it didn’t have such lyrics. changing lyrics wouldn’t be necessary for now, unless KBS invite JYJ to their music programs. even if JYJ didn’t change the lyrics of “back seat”, there are other songs in the album that also suitable for title track. all songs in “Just Us” album are amazing and suitable for title track. JYJ could even release second title track following “back seat”
I don’t see the need for KBS to release that they ban JYJ’s “back seat” when they didn’t even plan to broadcast the song or any other songs from JYJ anyway
As if KBS will let jyj perform if they change the lyrics. 😦
Yeah …. you totally right!!
What’s the difference between fit or unfit for broadcast with regards to JYJ’s songs?
Nothing, so why does KBS even bother to review the songs.
agree …korean broadcast are really a joke
to pretend that they care ?….I don’t know
Keep Bull Shitting will never stop the BS
YAWNNN CJES YAWWWNNNN
Just dont give a damn, JYJ.
Yoochun : Dont afraid of it..
well, KBS afraid of JYJ’s BACK SEAT :v
If there’s a guarantee that KBS would broadcast them, then I guess it will be ok. But if not, then it’s pretty useless to do so…
Really? I was told by my olds that I was a back seat creation…. Yes. KBS, my dad was there, my mom too. Right, possible relationship between a man and a woman under the sky. Hah! Just kidding folks. I am trying to maintain my sanity here.
Thanks so much admins for all updates.
If they change the lyric….is it possible for them to appear in KBS show ? . If not, just ignore that.
Can we have MV for all the songs? No?… I wonder how Thirty would be like in MV though… 🙂
The lyrics of JYJ’s “Back Seat” were considered to be sexually suggestive, with the line “Put you on my back seat” referring to a possible relationship between a man and a woman.
WHAT? You mean grown almost 30 something men might be suggesting something sexual could happen in a car? GASP!
O_O Boy the excuses for not promoting JYJ are getting lamer and lamer! Almost EVERY other song out there suggests “something sexual” did anybody tell them how babies are made? GROW UP! SMH!
OK like if they were going to broadcast it anyway……so what about “in haeven ” ??
Lol! They ban JYJ for the lyrics?
Oppas, don’t change the lyrics or anything. They won’t give an airtime anyway. Just keep ur freedom as u can be ♥
Someone there saw something senxual the song text ???? I do not see anything too
yes KBS it’s a song with sexy lyrics just like a lot of the songs you let pass before .
JYJ don’t care though 💃💃💃
This song is a beautiful expression of your emotions! ❤
The song is nothing offensive!
Surprisingly…
I love JYJ and Yoochun oppa especially..
There are always solution of anything.. everything the best for JYJ and for us the fans..
We will always with you..love from Malaysia.
Everyone know this is Sm work
WHO CARES? LAME MUCH?!
Actually i’m a little conservative & felt embarrassed while listening to “back seat”, i hope my fav band JYJ be more modest with their lyrics as they have such an amazing vocals, i think they should leave this explicit descriptive talk to others who have no talents & are desperate to be famous.
LOL and anyway C-JES the song IS about have sex in the back seat what would you change the lyrics too holding hands in the backseat?, playing cards?, studying math? HAHA Leave it they only making excuses, anyone one would love to be in the back seat with JYJ!!
Don’t change
I like the original!
Keep the original version
Even you change, they will use other excuses of not broadcasting it!
Be yourselves. Be JYJ!!
Its okay! They will probably get more views in youtube instead 😀 Since it was told that the music was banned by KBS, people tend to find the video to check out the reason for banning the song.
THEN, THEY WILL DEFINITELY FALL IN LOVE WITH THEIR VOICES! ❤
JYJ will never fall down easily, damn SM!
Honestly KBS, there are worst sentences than put you in my back seat out there, what you want kpop artist to still bring out songs as if they’re still in there teens singing about kittens and all things rose coloured, time to wake up and smell the flowers, they’re now adults who with everybody else are moving into adulthood , not stepping back into teen.
Nobody should have to change anything just to get it played on air, just because there’s over sensitive people running KBS, I wonder what you’s did when you were younger? Probably playing in your back seat.
Trust me, it’s NOT about the lyrics to “Back Seat.” KBS has a solid history of suppressing JYJ that goes back years. And they’ve never been shy about trotting out the thinnest, most transparently false excuses for why they are doing it. This is only the latest one.
reading this in 2015 after junsu release his masterpiece “Flower” KBS and other channels as always simply banned him without any given reason ( like how they did to all JYJ, jaejoong and junsu’s songs) I was like where is stupid KBS who said they banned backseat for nothing but the lyrics
It is an excuse so transparent as to be maddening and they really make no effort to make it seem any other way. They are under the thumb of SM and they cannot and will not budge until the public or the KCC make them do it. Then they can go back to SM and say, “We couldn’t help it, it wasn’t our fault. We were forced to do it.”
This what always happened to JYJ. Yet ‘Back seat’ has more than eleven million views on Youtube.
It was just another of their foolishly transparent excuses in order to continue sucking up to SM. Everyone knows it, but in Korea, nothing changes because big business always wins against individuals.
