[NEWS] 140818 ‘Sea Fog’, to breakthrough 1 million views on 6th day of its release…Will it overcome inferiority on [big] screen?

Movie ‘Sea Fog’ (Director Shim Sung Bo) will pass the 1-million-viewer mark on the 6th day of its release.

According to the Korean Film Council on www.kobis.or.kr, ‘Sea Fog’ mobilized 166,846 people nationwide within one day on August 17, continuing its 1st place in the box office. Its total attendance is 931,683 people.

Released earlier than ‘Sea Fog’, ‘Roaring Currents’ and ‘Pirates’ of the BIG 4 movies this summer ranked 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the box office [overall]. Compared with the two movies, considering that ‘Sea Fog’ is R-rated ‘Teenager restricted’ [T/N: under 18 prohibited] and average about half in the number of screens, it has a positive grade.

Previously ‘Sea Fog’ leaped over ‘No Tears for the Dead”s record (of 121,864 people) that held the best opening score, to bring the record of 173,853 people on opening day for this year.

[NEWS] 140818 JYJ, as a whole group “Feels like home” (AsiaToday)

Group JYJ has expressed their impression for coming back in 3 years and go on Asia tour as a whole group.

Before the concert began that was held in the 15th, JYJ had an interview with Korean press at Hong Kong Asia Center and stated “We all have been doing individual works for about three years but we do not feel pressure to be looking cool as a whole group but rather feel like we’re at home and be healed because we have worked on the album in a comforting mood.”

JYJ had come back with the full second album ‘JUST US’ on July 29 and kicked off their activities with the title song ‘BACK SEAT.’

JYJ said “We were planning to release the second regular album earlier as possible but due to various reasons it was delayed. Meanwhile we’ve been doing individual works and increased capabilities s as artists. We don’t feel like it’s been a long time that we’ve become release this album.”

Although it has been three years that JYJ visited fans in Asia countries, they are still enjoying great popularities among Asian countries. This album has topped the I-Tunes chart of 7 countries, including Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and more and also it ranked the second of Japanese Oricon Weekly chart even without an official release of the album. JYJ explained why they can keep popularities in abroad.

Park Yoochun was told of his uncanny boundary between an adult and a child  at our first meeting.

Singer-cum-actor Park Yoochun (29) has a strong boyish image. He is the image of a mischievous boy up to a mild image with a round face shape. He probably will further live the life of an idol ever since his teenager years. Meeting to begin his interview for film ‘Sea Fog’, Park Yoochun is a young man and a boy, located at the uncanny boundary between an adult and a child.

Showing a good-natured smile and continuing to speak cleverly nonstop, he exhibits the image of a boy. Interviewed by the media over 60 times, Park Yoochun was a little bit tired from meeting reporters. “What’s the fresh questions” at too many similar answers to surely similar questions, or he replied that he wants interesting answers for him to laugh. <The Fact>’s coverage is more than curious about coverage on stars’ passions in particular. I didn’t want to forget those times?”, providing his answer to seem like he didn’t know yet did know.

Although it was a short interview a little more than an hour long, he quietly bore the image of Park Yoochun becoming a full-fledged actor. We are wondering about his next work that he seems to take awhile to choose the next project with JYJ concerts.

[REVIEW] 140817 Under the ocean, ugliest side of human desire (Sea Fog) by The Korea Herald

Drama ‘Sea Fog’ centers on true story behind the Taechangho incident

Moviegoers have seen quite a lot of the sea this summer, as ocean-themed films filled the silver screen.

Period action flick “Roaring Currents” showed Adm. Yi Sun-sin’s historic victory, while comedy action flick “The Pirates” depicted imaginary and colorful pirates in search of a whale that swallowed the Joseon royal seal.

Nothing like the first two films, “Sea Fog” presents a grim but realistic look at the ocean, depicting human greed lying under the surface.

“Through the life of six crew members of Jeonjinho (the name of the vessel in the film, translated as ‘to advance’) and Chinese migrants, I wanted to illustrate a blended microcosm of our real life into the film,” director Shim Sung-bo said at the film’s press premiere. “This is not a suspense or a thriller. It is a film about humans’ inborn desires, loneliness and ambiguity.”

The film, set during 1998 during the Asian financial crisis that put thousands of Korean people out of work, forecasts a gloomy outlook as it is adapted from a theatrical performance of “Haemoo” (Korean translation of sea fog) based on a less publicly known tragedy that occurred in 2001.

“While listening to my older brother, I felt like his voice is stacked so many layers”

“We often do this”

We asked Yuchun about Jaejoong. After finishing the recent MBC drama [Triange], Jaejoong was passionate about acting too like Yuchun. In an interview recently on [Oh!MyStar], Jaejoong said “Yuchun watched my drama from episode 1 all the way till finale, real time”, conveying his appreciation. And so we also asked Yuchun about Jaejoong.

“Actually, we don’t talk much about acting. The reason why I watched all Jaejoong brother’s works is because I understand and appreciate the feeling of someone monitoring your work.  Of course there was also the reason that I wanted to watch [Triangle] too (laugh). My heart swell when I think about my brother but on the other hand, I was filled with thankfulness. Frankly, I thought he could have immediately gone into other productions after [Dr. Jin], but well, Jaejoong brother is so multi-talented. I do sometimes think about what happens if we delay our album release and he did more acting works.

I had predicted that Jaejoong brother’s solo activities will succeed. This is because while I listen to his songs, I felt that his voice is stacked with many layers. Maybe I should describe his voice as a slowly growing tree ring. If I really need to compare, the impression is similar to senior An Chi Hwan.

After 2004 (the year TVXQ debut), I think we came to do rather well. There is this song titled [30] in our songs, and the lyrics is about our imagination of what our lives will be after 30 years old. The overall meaning is about [not something that we imagine but isn’t it fine just being ourselves?], and this depicts exactly what we feel right now. Whether JYJ changes or stay as it is now, there is meaning in it and we are grateful. We have no greed but just to do well from now. While doing the work we are given honestly!”

This was actor Kim Yoon Seok’a words when appraising co-star JYJ Yuchun (28) in movie [Sea Fog] (released on 13th). Actors in their late 20s to early 30s usually try so hard to highlight their own personalities or aura in just 1 interview. But, Yuchun, like what Kim Yoon Seok said, is “colorless and transparent”, very like a sponge. During the interview, he laughed out loud many times, but never try to decorate his words or forced his opinion and personality on us. Yuchun said, “in the after-production party, I was told by my senior Kim Yoon Seok that I am [like a sponge]. It is not like my acting is good, nor have I been acting for many years, so I don’t know why he praised me in that way”.

“Maybe because I tried not to think or worry about it, just working on acting like a white piece of paper. Previously, I used to analyze the script while reading it, and prepare for it after thinking a lot. However, I acted this time based on my first impression after seeing the script. My heart was pounding during those times when I was not prepared yet (T/N: creation of his role), and that nervousness was actually good.”
