Organizers of the 2014 Asian Games promised Monday an opening ceremony filled with programs that will help highlight the central message of 45 participating countries becoming one during the continent’s largest sporting event.
Spectators will be able to feast their eyes on numerous music and cultural performances that will kick off the 16-day sports competition on Friday evening in Incheon, a metropolitan city west of Seoul, according to the organizing committee.
Folk dancers and singers will showcase a traditional Korean performance with drums and gongs before fireworks are set off for the beginning of the main events.
The mayor of the hosting city, Yoo Jeong-bok, will make welcoming remarks in the first part of the ceremony, followed by cultural performances with the common theme of Asia’s past, present and future converging into one.
A poetry reading by South Korean poet Ko Un, a routine front runner for the Nobel Prize for Literature, will cap off part two of the ceremony, along with several musical enactments that will help build up the atmosphere for the forthcoming act.
Thousands of participating athletes, who have been training for the pancontinental multisport competition, are to appear before the audience in part three of the event and send the message “Dream of 4.5 billion people, One Asia,” as well as take an oath to play fair.
The highlight of the entire event will be the lighting of the Asian Games cauldron, and while the identity of the final torchbearer and how the flame will be lit have been kept secret, the committee hinted that South Korean star athletes will take part in signaling the official opening of the 17th Asiad.
The opening ceremony will end with performances by popular K-pop groups EXO and JYJ, the organizers said, as well as with a finale by rapper Psy, who shot to global stardom in 2012 with his music video “Gangnam Style.”
South Korean cinematic master Im Kwon-taek took charge of organizing both the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2014 Asian Games, according to the organizers.

I keep hoping that JYJ will be treated well and their portion will be fully broadcast. Guess we’ll find out Friday.
This article just did nothing to make me feel any more hopeful about JYJ’s chances of having a good experience, quite the contrary. This is the first I’ve heard about EXO performing on the same bill as JYJ (and mentioned first, how dare they!) Anybody else having that…”Wait – What, now???” feeling? How far we have come from the IAG’s contractual promise and assurances that JYJ would be headlining the finale. 😦
Oh sis!!! i will need to see it to believe it~^^ no matter how many articles/news are saying abt JYJ performing.. i need to wait till i saw the performance on TV… *keeping my fingers crossed*
I intend to rush home on that day to watch the opening ceremony…it’s on the 19th Sep, right? Hopefully the boys’ performance will be broadcast. *praying hard*
I’m praying hard with you …

there’s a saying ” “Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll. The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist the hole!” ~ Oscar Wilde
And I think J-Y-J are seeing the doughnut, as fans let’s wish them ALL THE BEST !
Grabbing some popcorn…..

wait …we can post gifs now ?
HOW ?
I just tried yesterday when someone post a crying gif , just copy the link 🙂
aigooo….. JJ very cute…. from Sunao ni Narenakute??
Yes 🙂 that popcorn gif never grows old.
As usual JYJ, does all the work, and Exo rides in on their coat tails. Anything to keep JYJ, from getting any attention by themselves. SM, knows how to steal glory away from them. I still don’t trust the IAG, to not work with SM, and find some way to sabotage JYJ. After years of this kind of crap it’s hard not to be skeptical about how they are treated, but I hope I’m wrong.
Amen, everyone!!!
Nice one.. Jaejoong looking so relax and cool eating popcorn………@ KRIS, Thank you..You make me smile! SO HANDSOME.
We have a lot of popcorn to eat till the 19th,lol
Hopefully everything will go well and without problems for JYJ! Guys, there are rumours that JYJ’s new japanese agency will be K Dash…does anyone know something about this agency?
JYJ are going to perform two songs right ??
Wait, i thot EXO is performing during the closing ceremony? Hmm madness.
Hooe everything goes well.
sounds good. now i just hope the cameras don’t get lost or wander during JYJ’s performances. i will feel good about it after everythinh goes well. yeah, i am not convinced yet. but hoping.
with the JYJ issue and the Blanche issue from my country… no, just no, IAG. lost complete interest in this games. the Gangnam Fest seem infinitely better.
