JYJ heated up the autumn night by gathering 50,000 fans to Yeongdong street.
C-JeS Entertainment, JYJ’s agency, stated on October 6, “JYJ held the ‘Gangnam Hallyu Festival’ solo concert on October 5, on the stage specially set up in front of KEPCO (Korean Electric Power Corporation) in Yeongdong street. After filling up Seoul Olympic Stadium with 30,000 fans in August with 2014 Asia Tour in Seoul, JYJ caused traffic around Yeongdong street with the fans who came to see JYJ from all over the world. JYJ proved its popularity by gathering 50,000 fans to Yeongdong street, and gathered great response from them by performing 20 songs live over two hours.”
JYJ presented songs of various genres, including ballad, dance, rock, acoustic, R&B and more, for not only its fans but for all citizens who came out in order to enjoy the fall concert.
Kim Jae Joong and Park Yoo Chun presented special stages by singing Lee Juck’s Running in the Sky and Mate’s Leaning on You, respectively. When Kim Junsu presented powerful dance performances for his solo album title songs Tarantallegra and Be my Girl, the audience responded with enthusiastic cheers.
During the remix performance for Be my Girl, 50,000 fans cheered by doing the wave and citizens in their 40’s and 50’s watching from the streets also participated in making the wave, enjoying the festival.
JYJ said, “It’s the perfect weather for a concert on an autumn night. We’re happy that more people came than we expected, despite the fact that it’s our first street concert in six years.”
JYJ performed over 19 songs this day, including dance songs Be the One and Babo Boy during the opening stage. They were followed by the sentimental song In Heaven as well as the ballad songs Let Me See and So So.
Wrapping up the concert with Back Seat, JYJ stated, “Thank you to everyone who came today and since the weather has gotten colder, be careful not to catch a cold. This was an enjoyable time. See you again.”
The fans then made request for an encore song, and the members got up on the stage one more time to sing Empty as the finale song, to which the global fans sang along the chorus in English.
JYJ proved its status as the veteran Hallyu artist by presenting stable live performances, dance moves in unison as well as its stage manners along with the dancers, interacting closely with the fans. Water and air shots heightened the atmosphere and the members made good use of the protruding stage to capture the eyes and ears of the audience.
After the concert was over, Lee Jung Hee (44/female) said, “JYJ’s music, which I enjoyed in the middle of Yeongdong street, was the best. It was a perfect concert with nothing to take out, with their powerful performances and ballad stages, apart from interacting with the fans on the stage.”
Vicky (25/female), who came from Indonesia, also said, “I couldn’t attend the Asia tour. I came to Korea in order to see JYJ’s concert in Korea. I waited since the morning but gave me such a happy memory and I love JYJ so much.”
Having wrapped up the solo concert by proving its status as a global artist, JYJ recently finished its 2014 Asia tour in 8 cities, including Seoul, Hong Kong, Beijing, Ho Chi Minh, Chengdu, Taipei, Shanghai and Bangkok.

Well done, boys!
*crying right now*
I wanted to go so badly, but I live halfway across the world. TT___TT
Nonetheless, congrats to them for their perpetual hard work.
I’m serious glad that so many fans went to go see them live. I wish I could’ve gone! ;w;
Congratulations JYJ and the whole team and all the 50k audience, that must be epic!
Now what’s next? I’m sitting on the edge of my chair, so excited for next announcement #prayshard that it’s joyful 🙂
Ditto. Joy-ning your prayer.
i love the positive reveiw and all the wonderful fans’ supports! we would have been there too if possible, right? we were with them in spirit and well wishes!
OMG, Wow 50k audience is huge!!!!! I am so, so happy for JYJ that so many people came to see them, and the concert was such a success!!!!! I can barely wait to hear what they will be doing next!!!!!!!!
Is this the end? Will there be a Japan concert?
The reports I hear are that JYJ will be taking time off to rest from activities for the remainder of the year. 😦
Got to listen to the concert live via UStream. They sounded great! So thankful so many people came to see them. It’s been a great year for JYJ!
Junsu’s hit songs he sang were Tarantellegra and Incredible. 🙂
I’m not sure I believe that. 3 months doing nothing? I’m betting that Chun and Jae will go straight into another drama. Perhaps a new solo album for Junsu? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. 🙂
I don’t want to believe it either. Source was said to be CJes, but wouldn’t CJES have sent out something official, and someone here would see it and translate? It may be JYJ activities and not solo activities, which still makes me sad, but I’ll support them in whatever they do.
Oh, I agree with you. I’ll also be so sad to see them end JYJ activities. It’s been a wonderful time for all fans who have been waiting for them. The album “Just Us” is so so great from start to finish and their tour was fantastically successful – really first class production values all the way. I love them as 3 and I think they have been their strongest, happiest and at the same time most relaxed and confident when they have each other’s backs as JYJ.
@ lilibaiyu
I was actually expecting a repackaged album with a new song and one or two Japanese concert before they wrap it up as JYJ for now till they all finish their enlistment .
@meme & JYJ
It could be any or all the above. I just can’t imagine them sitting idle for the next 3 months after the momentum they’ve gathered over the summer. Momentum in a career is so very precious. They are HOT right now. I really hope they continue to take advantage of that.
there’s not much activities for them now anyway because of being blocked everywhere except touring and doing more concerts and even that isn’t easy with booking venues and finding promoters being interfered with too .
Nice boys! JYJ is unique boy band!!!!
Is there anybody that can explain why they don’t have a Japan tour or at least a Japan concert? They will easily fill up Tokyo Dome or Nissan Stadium for days. This is beyond my understanding. Is there still a problem with Avex? Anybody knows?
I believe its bcoz the stadium are fully book with other people concert and event until end of the year, thats why jyj is having hard time to find a venue for their concert.
I understand if all concert venues are fully booked for weekends, but not weekdays. It’s uncommon to have concerts on weekdays except if the group is extremely popular. JYJ 3 daysTokyo Dome Concerts last time were during weekdays and the Dome was still filled to the brim. And it doesn’t have to be the Dome, it could be anywhere, Japanese fans will come to where ever they perform.
Actually there was a Japanese article shared in twitter (around Sept. 30 ) that JYJ broke ties with the companies that handle Japanese tour (as translated) and fans were hoping that it was not true., I like to think that maybe J-Y-J have more exciting/enriching things to do than doing group tours (oh please, not that JJ is enlisting 😦 )
I’m talking about this one http://woman.infoseek.co.jp/news/entertainment/joseijishin_n7739#
but I didn’t see the full translation.
@ Kris
maybe the whole Japanese partner company thing didn’t go through as planned .
Thats so sad….I cant believe they canceled the Japanese tours. T.T Lets hope its not true.
I hope they can perform in Japan , I heard that Avex was trying to block their concert in Japan , but I really hope our boys can perform in Japan 😦
By any standard you can name, this concert represents a TRIUMPH for JYJ. A perfect night, a perfect performance before 50,000 enthusiastic fans. My hope and my prayer tonight is that now, finally, SOMETHING will change in the Korean media in favor of JYJ. If this isn’t a breakthrough performance in the Korean entertainment business, I don’t know what more they can do. Best wishes and Best love to our dear JYJ!
I heard the number of people coming is bigger than last year Gangnam Hallyu Festival. And at that time they had 4 most popular Kpop groups performing. For one group who never appears on any TV/radio stations for the last 4 years this is incredible, an outstanding phenomena. AND a big slap on SM face.
Too bad Jaejoong did not perform “Mine” last night. The venue is not far from SM building lol. If he sang it, it’s like shouting it straight to SM face.
No Tokyo Dome tour this time??? Anyways proud of you JYJ. Take good rest before starting new projects.
Indeed, Well done! Am I correct in understanding that there was a limit on the number of fans that could be accomodated at the venue? There must have been many more outside the gates enjoying the concert and more than a few enjoying from their balconies. Given the size of this event, is it possible that there was no broadcast coverage?
Congrats to our talented JYJ! This concert, as well as their Asia tour, was a success. And they even got to perform on live broadcast around Asia (maybe even all over the world)! I must say this year has been full of blessings for JYJ as individuals and as a group! Let’s all keep moving forward until fair treatment is finally given! 🙂 fighting! 😀
I still think they’ll try to have a concert in Japan, if not the end of the year, at least before they enlist. Japanese fans have always been very supportive and loyal. They have a special place in JYJ’s hearts. Hoping to see them in more concerts before they enlist! 😀
OMG, 50k audience. Best wishes and Best love to our dear JYJ! JYJ fighting <3<3<3<3<3

but i will take anything i can get from them hehehe…
I was one of those 50,000 blessed to be at that glorious concert in Seoul. They gave us a phenomenal show. I’m a 49 year old woman from the USA and love JYJ. I even had a 43 y/o female friend from the US with me who went from liking JYJ to loving them because of the concert. We were also with a guy Korean friend who doesn’t listen to Kpop at all and he enjoyed the concert. They are all so multiple-talented. When I got news of the concert in the newsletter I was ecstatic and was not disappointed. Jae Joong, Jun Soo, Yoo Cheon fighting!!!
that’s awesome i wish i could have been with you too as one of their USA noona fans!
Proud to say…..I was there!!!!
