It was a sad and emotional moment for both fans and the JYJ members when the group started singing “Begin,” a TVXQ (or Tohoshinki) song from when the group was five members (Junsu, Yoochun, Jaejoong, Changmin, and Yunho).
JYJ sang “Begin” during their Tokyo Dome concert, part of their 2014 ‘JYJ Japan Dome Tour – Ichigo Ichie.”
In some of the fan-taken videos from the event, you can hear fans crying as they listen to the members sing and you can see the members take in the emotional impact of the song. It is very rare for JYJ to sing a song from the time when they belonged to TVXQ, especially at an official event like this one, so the performance was very meaningful for the fans and you can hear how it affected them.
Member Jaejoong tweeted about the event saying, “We won’t cry… we won’t cry. We thought we should hold back our tears, but we found it difficult. But we thought it was most important to convey our best. We will work hard tomorrow too. Let’s get more enthusiastic than ever!”
In related news, C-JeS Entertainment announced earlier in October that the group was preparing to release a Japanese single soon- their first as JYJ.

[NEWS] JYJ break down into tears singing TVXQ5 song “Begin”
On November 18, JYJ opened up their 3rd Japan dome tour Ichigo Ichie and ended up having an emotional stage as they sang “Begin,” a song from their days as 5 in TVXQ.
“Begin” was a single released in 2006 after TVXQ held their 4th Japan tour. It has now been about 5 years since the members of JYJ split from TVXQ and it seems that they still have scars left in their hearts. As they sang “Begin” to their fans, the members could not hold back their emotions and let out tears. The tour, Ichigo Ichie, harnesses the meaning of “once in a lifetime meeting” and they promised to show fans and new more powerful side to them.
Regarding their performance, Jaejoong tweeted out “Don’t cry… Don’t cry…. We thought to keep it in between us 3 members. It was difficult, since we thought that letting you hear a good song was the most important. We’ll work hard tomorrow, so passionately! More than ever, let’s play passionately!”

[NEWS] JYJ surprises fans by singing a TVXQ song at the Tokyo Dome
JYJ surprised the fans when they sang the TVXQ song, “Begin,” towards the end of their concert held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on November 18.
“Begin” is the sixth single that TVXQ released in Japan back in 2006 when the five boys were actively promoting as Tohoshinki. In the clip above, you can hear some fans weeping in sorrow overwhelmed by their nostalgic feelings.
International netizens were pleasantly surprised that JYJ had performed the song even with the separation and the changes that came along with the disbandment.
One netizen wrote, “Though I’m certain a reunion will never happen, I’m always happy to see JYJ giving back to the fans with the acknowledgment of, yes, they were in TVXQ.”
thank you oppa for sing that song for us..
it’s very meaningful, and beautiful
Beautiful. And even i just looked at their videos.. I don’t even realize that, I’ve teary eyes.. So sweet.. I miss them as 5.. Fighting !! Jiayou !! Good luck JYJ.. !!
Yes, I cried, too. But this was a great way to show those who don’t know or those who are trying to change history, that JYJ ARE a major part of what made TVXQ great and will remain such for ever. But that was another time, another life, ichigo ichie! Now they are in the today and the tomorrow, making a new, equally successful history. JYJ, I drink bottoms up to your ever-lasting success!
love your comment….
me too-(love your comment)
they won’t forget who they were and who they are now. i didn’t think we would ever be able to hear those beautiful songs again. i hope we can hear more of them. that was a magical time for me and a time that dbsk helped me recover from death. music is a powerful emotional journey.
Me too – great comment. 🙂

I m happy that they hv decided to sing this song and if this is a BEGINing, it will be comforting to hear their new renditions of Proud, Stand By You, Why did I fall in Love with you … ❤️
By then, I hope we all won’t cry … yeah ?
Personally I would LOVE to hear them sing Doushitte & Love In The Ice.
Yes, there are just too many which i missed so much
Don’t say goodbye
Holding back the tears
The way you are
Loving you
And the list can go on and on, only if it does not pain the boys too much to take them on now
@JYJHeArts
“And the list can go on and on, only if it does not pain the boys too much to take them on now”
*hugglesyou* 🙂
And may I add Waserunaide. I love that one. Remember JJ n YC crying while singing it at Nagoya when still in TVXQ.
How can we ever forget …
I want to become the wind and gently wrap myself around you
I want to fly to your world right now
Even though I miss you, even though I miss you
I’ll be waiting, just don’t forget me
Beautiful … isn’t it ? 💐
JYJ can easily sing all of the fav old songs and we won’t even know the difference coz they were the main voices back then. It is not for the songs I think for JYJ to be emotional as of for the time they spent together as 5,then all the privilege being taken from them. However the most important things that were never taken away are their faith and fans power.
It just so great but I feel slightly upset because there is some anti fan that accuse JYJ to try get sympathy by using that song. They already have popularity. They don’t need that. They got full package with vocal, look, talent and many thing. I will always support them.
Sympathy ? With the show up of JYJers at the dome alone last night and with so many of us cldnt make our way there still ?
I suppose there will always be pple who dunno what they are saying
most people when they hate someone everything they do will have a negative Interpretation to them… and the worst kind of hate can come from former fans more than anyone else.
but who cares about what any of their little hate ? …let them seethe .
Regardless of what anyone else thinks or says, facts are facts. The members of JYJ were a part of TVXQ. No amount of blacklisting will change that. The patent office said the name TVXQ could not be copyrighted because it belonged to the members of the group. So, if they have the legal right to sing any of those songs in Japan, they should do so. The main voices of all those songs are the ones on the stage under the name JYJ.
No sympathy asked, none needed. JYJ are making their own way now. As the saying goes…the past is prologue. Beautiful job JJ, YC, JS.
“the past is a prologue” I love your interpretation. Yes, that past only led to the present and the present is the real story and the bulk of the novel. And we are very far from the epilogue as yet. (while some others are now in their epilogue stage) Yeah, you have seen it so well 😀
@anna-liza p.m.
The one thing I always keep in mind is that the members of JYJ have enough talent collectively/individually to last a very long time. When you are a serious fan of an artist, you go with their career, no matter where it takes you. I’ve lived long enough to be a fan of many artists who are now in their 60s and 70s. They hold my interest because they have TALENT! No company has to promote the hell out of them or P.R. then to death. Their talents speak for themselves.
This is what JJ, YC, and JS have…TALENT. So, I expect them to be around for a very long time. 😉
@butterfliesarefree2 I totally agree with you. JJ, YC and JS have not only the talent but the looks, the poise, the drive for hard work, sensitivity and sensibility. In addition, they have both their feet planted on firm ground. They meet hatred and revenge with love, caring and forgiveness. That’s more than enough to ensure them a long-lasting success and a firm place in our hearts.
I’m really sorry but I just feel so frustrated and I need to vent. I’m so tired of these idiots who think JYJ are using their past in TVXQ to “stay” relevant. I was so happy and then I read this:
“I should feel enraged for this but I just feel sad, sad for Yunho and Changmin and the way their “fans” bashed them after they sang DBSK songs, the songs that belong to the group they rebuilded against all the odds.
Sad for the fans hipocrisy and double standard, where is the outrage?! where is the harsh words?! where is the vitriol?! where are the people saying they shouldn’t sing songs that belong to the 5?!
But most than anything I feel bad for those 3 men, using this kind of tactic to try to attain a bit of their old relevancy. You know, I really hope they miss DBSK, I really hope they understand how bad they fucked up a precious thing.
And I hope Yunho and Changmin never forgive and never ever look back.”
Are you fucking kidding me???? God this bimbo just pissed me off big time. How come when SME present TVXQ and have all the original accomplishments seem like they were just the duo’s that it means they are cool and successful and then turn around and say JYJ are manipulating fans because they sing this song? That is complete bullshit and JYJ have done so many great things given their limited options but they are always overlooked. This is just so unfair. Then they completely overlook all the shady things SME have done like copying JYJ and then blocking them and that seems fair to pieces of shit like this dumb b. Homin enjoy having the backing of one of the biggest entertainment companies in Korea and Japan and somehow that is equal????? They act like they composed, produced and choreographed everything for themselves. Now they are being called artists. Lol. I’m just so upset because they are such hypocrites!!!!!!
@theinvinciblefan
Can I make a small suggestion…don’t give them the power to upset you. The one thing they will never be able to accept is that the members of JYJ will be around long after SM has discarded the other two, once they are no longer of use to them. They forget the reason the three left…mental, physical and monetary abuse. SM is very selective of who they hold onto and why. Take a look at The Grace and how SM has completely marginalized their careers. Four young women with enormous talent that did not fit the ‘idol’ model. SM is only interested in fast monetary gains, use, abuse and then…see yah! With the constant debuting, acts who are aging, will not have a very long shelf life. Once the military service is over for ALL five, let’s see whose still standing.
I know, sometimes I feel just like you, especially when I hear the duo singing those old songs that were carried out up to 80% by the trio and they sing them so merrily and carefree as if the success and popularity of those songs belonged to them.
This is the first time JYJ sing one of their old songs (of which they were the main voices even then) and the difference of how the duo and the trio performed is so obvious, it doesn’t need a PhD to see how emotional JYJ were about it and how uncaring those two were when singing. (even if somebody tells me it’s SME who made them sing those songs, SME can’t make them suppress their emotions if they do have any.)
But now, I no longer raise my blood pressure over such comments. Like our idols, I just ignore them, coz:
1. It was SME in those days who had themselves said JJ is the face and lead singer of the group and JS is the main singer of the group. The job of YH was dancing which JS can do just as well if not better and low key and rapping which YC does much better. the other one had the job of high notes, which he wasn’t singing but was screaming and which both JJ and JS could outdo, except that more melodiously.
So,those who deny any of that are a) devoid of memory and b) tone deaf if they can’t hear the difference in timbre.
Finally, I know I am going to be attacked for this in plenty but I am not going to raise my blood pressure and respond to any attack coz my grandma taught me not to argue with a ….
So let’s enjoy our angels and bathe them in our love and not waste our energy on hate.
^_^ yoo-hoo !! 👏👏👏
thx for lowering my blood pressure
I am 😵 from those …. at first but now thank you and *huggies*
Huggies back to you 🙂
What she said! 🙂

I’m really happy that JYJ sang their old TVXQ songs, but PLEASE stop saying that JYJ were the main vocals. Jaejoong, Junsu, and Changmin were the main vocals. They ALL contributed 100% to TVXQ/DBSK’s success until 2009. Now, they are separates and successful in their own right. Never the less, the songs belong to all five of them; and I’m tired of both sides arguing about it. Let’s just celebrate the nostalgia and move on.
