I have never seen Death Note. So does L die and how does he? Does L catch/stop Light before he die?

Based on the story in Manga (Japanese comic) L was dead before he has the proof that Light was Kira (the man who kills people with Death Note) … And it was so sad bcoz Light was the only person who close to him as a friend maybe, or maybe as the person who as smart as him so he likes Light but The reality so cruel that Light was Kira, and at the end of L’s light , Light was smiling evilly seeing L died. 😦 Kira was my fav when he was still innocent .. so sad he become obsessed with Death Note to make a new world. L was died and the investigation continues with L’s student (emm, how to say? student or…maybe lil bro from his orphanage) Near and Mellow , Near or we called him ‘N’ was the one who revealed that Light was Kira. At the end Light was death, and the one who killing him was shinigami Ryuk.

@yuuxia29 thanks for the info.! So “N” revealed that Light was Kira. So did Light live or die? So if Light write your name in the Death Note then Shinigami Ryuk who is death will come and kill the person correct?
@Flower ur welcome ) . I have been said that Light was died in the end, and the one who make him died no other than the shinigami Ryuk. Ryuk was the one who write Light’s name on the Death Note.
Wrong. it wasn’t like that. I will telling u the main for the story.
So basically, Death Note was the book to make people died with only puts the name of people (but we must know the face of that people if not the book wasn;t work). And there are so many Death Note (not only one) bcos this book was owned by Shinigami (God of Death or Reaper). And there are so many Shinigami up there. And there was a Shinigami named ‘Ryuk’ who will be the original owner of the book. But he was bored and drop the book to the human world.
And there was a rule that if the book was droed and takes by other people [here human] so basically the book will be his/her. And u know Light was the one who picked it up. And he owns it. U must know at the back side of the book written some rules. What im still remember , the rules:
1) You can only kill people with
Firstly he doesnt believe it but actually the book was real. And he become obsessed to it and wants to make new worl with no crime or such bad people in the world will be punished by ‘Kira’, he claims himself as a God.
And here we go, Detective ‘L’ against him and try to find who is the real ‘Kira’.. L was really genius (Light also genius) , Light has been tried to know L’s name but he failed. But in the end L was dead bcoz Light was helped by Misa (the girl who also has Death Note and she loves Light). Misa has shinigami Rem in her side. Actually Rem doesnt like Light. But she will do anything for Misa. Thats why the one who write the real name of ‘L’ was Rem. and L was dead. But after that Rem also died bcoz shinigami was forbidden to kill someone(to write the name of human who dont deserve to die at the right time that has been sheduled; i mean people has the date when he/she will be death and only shinigami who know it) and also she did it bcos of Misa, it was forbidden so she died.
After that u know, ‘N’ (Near) and Mellow (M) are trying to catch who is ‘Kira’. The story was intense. This was best manga by Takeshi Obata sensei. Cool~

1. The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
2. This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person’s face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
3. If the cause of death is written within the next 40 seconds of writing the person’s name, it will happen.
4. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.
5. After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
How to Use: II
1. The note shall become the property of the human world, once it touches the ground of (arrives in) the human world.
2. The owner of the note can recognize the image and voice of the original owner, i.e. a god of death .
3. The human who uses the notebook can neither go to Heaven nor Hell.
How to Use: III

How to Use: IV
1. The person in possession of the Death Note is possessed by a god of death, its original owner, until they die.
2. If a human uses the note, a god of death usually appears in front of him/her within 39 days after he/she uses the note.
3. Gods of death, the original owners of the Death Note, do not do, in principle, anything which will help or prevent the deaths in the note.
4. A god of death has no obligation to completely explain how to use the note or rules which will apply to the human who owns it unless asked.
How to Use: V
1. A god of death can extend their own life by putting a name on their own note, but humans cannot.
2. A person can shorten his/her own life by using the note.
3. The human who becomes the owner of the Death Note can, in exchange of half his/her remaining life, get the eyeballs of the god of death which will enable him/her to see a human’s name and remaining life span when looking through them.

How to Use: XI
1. Even after the individual’s name, the time of death, and death condition on the Death Note were filled out, the time and condition of death can be altered as many times as you want, as long as it is changed within 6 minutes and 40 seconds from the time it was filled in. But, of course, this is only possible before the victim dies.
2. Whenever you want to change anything written on the Death Note within 6 minutes and 40 seconds after you wrote, you must first rule out the characters you want to erase with two straight lines.
3. As you see above, the time and conditions of death can be changed, but once the victim’s name has been written, the individual’s death can never be avoided.

I do understand that “L” sadly was killed in the end by Rem writing his name in the Death Note and then she was killed because she did not suppose to do that. However, did ‘N’ (Near) and Mellow (M) catch “Light” or was he killed by the Shinigami named ‘Ryuk’ in the end ? Also did Misa die?
