Park Yoo Chun made another unforgettable memory with his Japanese fans.
On June 25th, a representative of C-JeS Entertainment said, “On June 23rd and 24th, Park Yoo Chun held two fan meetings at Yokohama Arena in celebration of Park’s 10th Japan debut anniversary.”
24 thousand fans attended the fan meetings in total, and each show was held for about three hours. They welcomed Park Yoo Chun with paper flowers of many different colors, and they presented a surprise flower section event for Park Yoo Chun, and yelled, “Happy 10th anniversary (10周年 おめでとう).”
The fan meetings commenced with a special video presentation, which was composed of highlight scenes from drama ‘Sensory Couple,’ and the audiences made a standing ovation as Park Yoo Chun appeared on the stage.
It was Park Yoo Chun’s first visit to Japan since July 2014, and Park Yoo Chun led the fan meeting in fluent Japanese without any translator.
A group of Japanese comedians participated in the fan meeting as special guests, and he deeply impressed the audiences with his fluency in Japanese once again.
Afterwards, Park Yoo Chun presented several keywords for drama ‘Sensory Couple,’ which will premiere in Japan on July 24th, and talked about many different behind-the-scenes episodes.
Park Yoo Chun also talked about other activities that he had last year, such as JYJ’s Japan Dome Tour, and promotion of movie ‘Sea Fog.’ He also played highlight scenes from his recent works with a few randomly selected fans, and the fans were deeply touched by his great care for them once again.
Park Yoo Chun’s setlist for the concerts included a song of his own composition called ‘Walking Spring With Her (tentatively translated title),’ Fukuyama Masaharu’s ‘Saiai (最愛),’ and a solo track called ‘Thirty.’ For encore performance, he sang a song called ‘Found,’ and the fans sang the entire song along in Korean.
After finishing the fan meetings, Park Yoo Chun said, “It was a great pleasure to make another special memory with my fans in Japan. I hope that everyone would enjoy drama ‘Sensory Couple,’ and I will try to get back to this wonderful city as soon as possible.”
A local official said, “We could see Park Yoo Chun’s colossal power and influence through the two fan meetings, and he truly is the most leading Korean actor in Japan. We also could see how much he cherishes the time he spends with his fans, and his such an attitude seems to be the biggest reason of his unchanging popularity.”
Meanwhile, Park Yoo Chun will hold his next fan meeting in Osaka on June 30th.

I wish Yuchun would think about his song selection during his FMs.
He doesn’t have solo concerts but fans want to hear him sing too. The thing is he keeps singing the same songs over and over again.
Wish he could take time to select and sing new Japanese songs during these FMs. I think fans would like that.
He made an effort to sing new Mandarin songs during his Chinese FMs…but the Korean and Jap songs remain the same.
I think that Noraebang session during his bday FM was great cos he sang new songs.
That said ‘Chajatta” will always be a fan favourite cos its a fun song that fans can sing along.
I don’t know about other fans but I don’t want to hear that ‘Walking in Spring” song again …haha….

Come on Yuchun, vary the song list. Wish there is a way for fans to give him feedback.
I think if he does a survey on preferred songs to sing, he may find that “Spring” song at the bottom of the list.
Like what Jae did to find the top 10 songs that fans like……..Jae always sings “Butterfly” ….. but in that list fans have placed that song somewhere at the bottom …..maybe that’s why he doesn’t sing it much now.
I also wonder if Yuchun takes an active role in planning the activities/or programme for his FMs or does he leave it Cjes team.
I don’t think Yuchun is a confident singer anymore. It hasn’t been his primary focus for a long while now. He is far more involved as an actor these days. When you don’t sing regularly your voice changes and weakens, your range shrinks. You tend to lose confidence in hitting high notes, etc. I think that’s what has happened. He was such an interesting and original songwriter earlier also but he hasn’t been devoting his energies to that much anymore either. It seems to me that what he really wants to be is an actor now so that’s what he’s focussed on.
Yuchun’s strengths are his ability to emote a song well and his deep deep baritone. No need to hit high notes. Just choose songs within his vocal range and sing with his heart. I enjoy listening to “Saai” and “Old song” more. I think his voice is wonderful when he sings songs like these. I have to admit though he did well rapping during that impromptu Noraebang session during his bday FM.
For FMs he sings at most 3 to 4 songs, so he should be able to do it with suitable songs for his vocal range. Dont attempt songs with high notes that make him anxious. Just vary the songs for his FMs to keep it interesting. With some vocal practice, I think he will do just fine.

The song “Saai”, for example, is a song that suits his vocal like bam! I can listen to him sing this song on repeat 24/7, hhe..

@lilibaiyu I kindly don’t agree with you, yoochun in many occasions said nothing beat singing for him even in his interviews as actor, being a good actor doesn’t mean you can’t be a good singer anymore (jaejoong is the best exemple) I had some worries about yoochun before the Just Us album release since it has been long time for him to make music, but all my worries disappeared when I heard his voice in the album absolutely didn’t change at all if does not improved, his rap is great his warm voice harmonised well with jaesu and he perfectly hit his high notes like in “So So” and ” Dad, you there ?” for examples

Yes, I agree with you Jaechnsu – it surely isn’t a given that an actor can’t be a wonderful singer as well. Singing well involves regular, near daily practice and vocalizing (think JUNSU) and Yuchun has let his technique lapse in recent years because he has focussed on acting. It seems fairly obvious in his solo performances that he is not giving much time or thought to music these days. I know he has said he still loves singing and wants to remain active as a singer but this he has not done except during the brief reunion for “Just Us.” I also was so pleased to hear his vocal performances on “Just Us.” I enjoyed them very much also, in fact they made me especially happy because he had been struggling as a singer in the last few years, most probably due to just not vocalizing regularly. (Also his asthma and his smoking is a factor – if you can’t get air, you’re in trouble as a singer.) It must be said however that what I have observed about K-Pop singers generally over the last 10 years is that what comes out of the recording studio, each line performed again and again and then carefully chosen, groomed electronically and mixed, can be a far cry from what a singer can do in live performance and so this is primarily what I am basing my comments on. Yuchun has been a favorite singer of mine for years now too, but as a singer of some years myself and as a former producer of vocals, I can hear that he’s developed some problems vocally which only regular vocalizing and vocal exercises can begin to change and… he’s just not focussed there anymore. I’m not talking about what I would like him to do or what I wish he would do… I’m merely observing what seems to have happened.
Could it be that his asthma is affecting his vocals? Maybe he needs to get that treated first. That said, I love my Yuchun.
FYI, “Walking in Spring” was the song specially written by Yuchun for Japanese fans couple years ago. So I guess that’s why he sings the song in the Japanese events.

@nuyc I kindda agree with you, I wish yoochun can try new songs during his fanmeetings and concerts, it can be a challenge for himself and at the same time a good new and fresh surprise for fans. it happened to me with BigBang at certain time whenever they go they sing “fantastic baby” again and again to the point that hated the song I was like not “fantastic baby” again.
