Why do some still insist on calling him that? How many years has he been front and center of JYJ!?! Oh well, If JJ doesn’t make a big deal out of it, I shouldn’t either 🙂
It is not their fault. The public (non-fans) only know him as TVXQ’s Youngwoong (Hero) Jaejoong, because that is how he mostly promoted on TV. (These people may not even know about the lawsuit or split since Homin too are mostly in Japan).
Unless they have watched one of his dramas then he will be known as Kim Jaejoong – but most drama fans do not transition into becoming music fans (case in point Lee Minho is super famous in Asia and sometimes releases music in South Korea but it doesn’t do that well). And Jaejoong hasn’t had a super hit project besides PTB so far.
But, JYJ sadly is mostly only known to the fans.
This is the result of media broadcast banning pretty much.
On a side note lol this makes me think of how dumb SME is. On one side I guess they want JYJ blocked so the ‘duo’ can succeed and get more money and support from the remaining OT5; but on the other by not allowing JYJ to establish a brand name for themselves on TV they basically tied the duo down to their former history too. In other words, because JYJ cannot establish themselves in the public’s eye TVXQ will always remain a five member group in the public’s eye/memory LOL irregardless of how many statements Homin makes that TVXQ is only two now (that only really matters to the post-lawsuit fans – I doubt the public knows or cares).
The same thing happened with H.O.T. The public knows what H.O.T. is and who the members are because they were promoted on broadcast heavily, but I doubt they know about JTL which formed for a bit after H.O.T. disbanded, and never really got a chance to promote on broadcast.
JTL have great songs.
Anyways, in short, she/they don’t have any ill intent when they say ‘TVXQ’ this or that – they just don’t honestly know.
I agree with all what you said but I think even if JYJ promote on TV there will still be people who call them TVXQ, because at their era TVXQ was huge in Korea everybody knows them by that for about 6 years, it’s hard to just change public first and long idea. just like how the duo now promote as 2 for so long but general public always talk about TVXQ as five members group.
IA, but still it would be different if JYJ had a digital hit irregardless of if they can go on broadcast or not. Unfortunately, the trend seems to be that those that go on broadcast only really ever get digital hits.
yes that’s true, but at least JYJ made it to Top4 in digitals as band and as solo I checked gaon of last week the duo didn’t make it even to top10 but junsu ranked top 4 in digitals, JYJ “just us” also ranked top 4 in digitals and both without promotions or TV prformances, so I guess JYJ still have some public recognition thanks to their unique singing talent.
Oh congrats to them then ^^ Were these daily, weekly, monthly or yearly chart rankings?
Actually I am really proud of the three, because even as DBSK5 they had really bad digital sales, but things seem to be somewhat improving fortunately.

Actually I can’t blame other people if they still call JJ with his old group’s name. What if TVXQ for them still means 5 people, with Jaejoong as the lead singer, the one with rainbow voice 😀 Hard habit to break for the fans of the original TVXQ/THSK/DBSK , especially those who started from day1, Like some parents who called their child “baby” even if grown up already. I think they mean no harm.

I remember in triangle stuff call jj , hero…many times jj said we are tvxq for ever …and miky in last fan meeting said don’t forgot tvxq and jyj… People didn’t want and our bias didn’t want to forget all of successd … When I hate homin …I remind my bias didn’t hate them and calms down … Plz respect their kind heart

Jae seems to look younger and better by the day. I have never seen a Korean army officer look this good.
As for the word TVXQ, maybe the girl thought that not many people will know if she writes JYJ. Jae was THE face and voice of TVXQ and he was a huge part of their success. But JYJ is my jam now.
