[NEWS] JYJ’s Jaejoong’s Fanclub Donates Book Cafe to the Armed Forces
JYJ’s Jaejoong’s fanclub has personally donated a book cafe to the first division of the armed forces! The library opened its doors on December 21.
The book cafe was prepared by Jaejoong’s fans so that the armed forces serving in the front lines could have a place to relax and keep up with intellectual activities during their service. During the selection process for the donation, the fans took into consideration the fact that Jaejoong had spent his training with the first division.
The small library holds desks and chairs and even features temperature control in consideration of the armed forces who may have to endure cold weather. The fans also personally sent 500 books, CDs, DVDs, and even a stereo system.
A representative of the first division expressed the gratitude of the soldiers in his division. “Even during their busy lives, they thought of the armed forces. Thank you for the book cafe and thank you for remembering those that are carrying out their military services.”
Jaejoong’s fanclub has also carried out other charitable projects, such as sponsoring scholarship funds and providing lunch meals for disadvantaged children. Meanwhile, Jaejoong is currently serving his term in the military band of the 55th division.
[NEWS] Kim Jae-joong’s fans donate cafe to Army
A fan club of singer-actor Kim Jae-joong, a member of the K-pop trio JYJ, has donated a book cafe to the Korean Army’s First Division in the name of the K-pop star.
C-JeS Entertainment, which represents Kim, and the First Division said on Thursday that the book cafe opened on Dec. 21 and is equipped with about 500 books, CDs and DVDs. The book cafe also has air conditioning and ondol or under-floor heating.
According to the Army, the fan club and Kim had discussions to choose a location to build a book cafe, and Kim, who is serving in the Army’s 55th Division, wanted to install the book cafe at the First Division, where he spent six weeks in basic training when he joined the military last March.
The fan club has been helping various groups of people in need from children without parents to abandoned babies.
Although Kim is serving in the military, his new album containing 10 tracks will be released in February. C-JeS said Kim finished recording all of the songs before he joined the Army.
Kim will finish his mandatory service on Dec. 30, 2016.
Meanwhile, many fan clubs donate in the name of their celebrities to commemorate special occasions of their idols, such as the 10th anniversary or launch of a new drama series.
For example, fans of singer Seo Tai-ji donated money to plant about 5,000 trees in 2012 to mark the 20th anniversary of the singer’s debut in Guapi Assu, Brazil, which is about 70 kilometers (43 miles) from Rio de Janeiro.

Soldiers of 1st Infantry Division celebrated and expressed their appreciation at the opening of the library. Colonel Yih Seingoh of the 1st Infantry Division commented, “We thank you for caring and supporting the army in your busy schedule and donating the library. I am so grateful and happy that you remember the soldiers serving in the frontline.”
During the process of designation, currently active soldier Kim Jaejoong suggested the book cafe to be donated to the 1st Infantry Division to where he was trained. He had the general outpost (GOP) in the demilitarized zone with the harshest environment in his mind**. Fans reported they were deeply moved by his thoughtfulness and participated in the donation even more actively.
