So… This is a first for me, as an admin; but please do humor me.
When the news came out about Yuchun’s first solo (mini-)album today, and then its title was revealed to be ‘How Much Love Do You Have in Your Wallet.’; it reminded me of something. Originally, I paid no immediate mind or afterthought to it but seeing fans share their same thoughts on Twitter, I now guess I am not the only who thought the same.
The Korean title is ‘당신의 지갑에는 얼마의 사랑이 있나요.’; and “지갑” can be translated to ‘wallet’ or ‘purse’. I stuck with ‘wallet’ because it can be broadened to both female and male fans.
So, with the allude to ‘wallet’, it reminded me of something that I watched from ‘2014 JYJ Japan Dome Tour Concert 一期一会(Ichigo Ichie)’ DVD (which I was marathon-ing all 4 discs over the weekend).
From Disc 4 of ‘2014 JYJ Japan Dome Tour Concert 一期一会(Ichigo Ichie)’ DVD, a little over 1 minute in of the ment in the OSAKA HIGHLIGHT, there was a short clip of Yuchun’s own ment.
Since I will respect the distributor JVD’s wishes, on requesting fans to NOT upload videos from the DVD [see post HERE], I typed out what the English subtitles said:
*
” I had a dream last night.
And I saw my dad.
I gave him 10 thousand yen bill.
I saw his wallet in my dream and it was still there.
I saw that money…
and realized that I was wrong.
I’m talking about my dream because
more than money… ”
” I’m very happy to meet you like this.
I thank you one more time. ”
*bow*

oooooo!! Yoochun didn’t say that on day 1 of the concert (which i attended).. hmm a very deep thought.. Looking forward to all the lyrics of Yoochun’s solo songs ^^
It seems that all of the footage from the DVDs were on the 2nd days of each concert stop… I hope the DVD’s translated subtitles are accurate (from Japanese to English)! >_<
Thanks to the admin mentioning, I went and found the fancammm! XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5quBLbgG07A
I’ve realised (for the Japanese ones at least) that the DVD translations are accurate but they tend to drop a few words here and there..
This morning, today
I met my father after a long time in my dream, today.
it was perhaps 10 years ago, there was a time I gave him ¥10,000 but
in yesterday’s dream, when I looked at my father’s wallet, the ¥10,000 was there just as it was.
After seeing that money, I realised today in the morning that I was wrong in the past.
Talking about this right now is,
definitely, more than money. right *chuckle*
I can meet everyone like this, so much
I am really happy. Thank you very much.
Reblogged this on annayooch's Blog.
Thanks for the translation. But can someone explain to me what they think he meant?
I think he was talking about how
time with someone (i.e. his dad, or fans) > money
I think what Yoo Chun meant was that his dad valued that bank note he had given him many years earlier more than its actual value. It was a memento from his son, may be from YC’s first pay, which had a sentimental value that meant to him a lot and he could not give it away even if he needed to buy something with it. It was a keepsake from his firstborn son. YC was touched by the fact how highly his dad valued something small he had given him.
So in my understanding, the song then is a question to us if we have touched somebody’s soul with a sincere gift, however small so that it (and we) shall be remembered and treasured for ever.
Wow! Spot on interpretation, anna liza p.m.
I looked at my purse yesterday and asked myself how much love do I have in it? I was amazed that beyond the cash, credit cards and loyalty cards, I also had many things of sentimental value in them – family photos, JYJ photos (ha,ha), a decade of rosary and some inspirational cards given by close friends.
Females can carry more things in their purses, but for males whose wallets are smaller and thinner, I think what they keep in their wallets besides their cash and cards would be things they cherished the most in their lives.
I’ll be so interested to look into Yoochun’s, Jaejoong’s and Junsu’s wallets to see what they carry in them.
And me too. lol I’m stumped. 🙂
Great news! I had always expected that one day Chunnie would let go of all those beautiful compositions he produces but keeps close to his chest and would reward us with an album. Thank you Mr Yu Chun!
Thanks admin, I love this interpretation/meaning! ❤️JYJ❤️Yuchun❤️
Deep meaning “Dad you there” is already a great song I love the most in “Just Us” I can’t wait for this song too
Yes admin my thouht exactly…I just watched the ichigo dvd since I just received it 2 days ago n yuchun said its in disc4 higlight in osaka
Now that I see this, I remember that ment.
Thinking about it, apart from Yuchun’s interpretation, I think some people do keep a lot of love in their wallets………family photos, girl/boyfriend pics, maybe a love letter, a special memento eg a ribbon, clip or even a ring.
Basically anything that is special to someone that is small enuff can be kept in the wallet. As the wallet is portable and something you have to carry when you are out, all those special items are accessible to you at all times. I remember keeping some special items in my wallet.
How I wished all 3 JYJ members are around during the release of this album. I can imagine them having an interview as follows:
MC: So, tell me how much love do you carry with you in your wallet?
Junsu (honest and direct as ever): I carry with me pictures of my family and my girlfriend.
Jaejoong and Yoochun: Oh, we carry pictures of us with our fans. [Yoochun turning around to look at Junsu with his trollest chunface]
Junsu (in a panic): Yah, yah! I also carry pictures of fans in my wallet as well!
Sigh! Those were the good old days when we could see all three of them being interviewed on TV.
Lol… 100% agreed with u…
Yeah, I know what you mean. Here is the illustration. starts at 0.52
and again. What about this one? So many fun moments when the three JYJ are together.
Thank you so much Rilanna.
Insa.
