Cold Weather Training
The army’s 55th Infantry Division will be carrying out their 2016 Cold Weather Training for a total of 5 days, from February 1st∼5th.
The training is carried out to adapt to the situation of a bitter winter season while considering the state of national security having continued and increased by provocation threats –like the North Korean statement on the development of a hydrogen bomb–; and to demonstrate their best warfighting capabilities under the conditions of local provocation and in the case there’s the situtation of an all-out war.

Corporal Jaejoong is bae
Congratulations corporal Jaejoong! I know Jae prefers cold winter to hot summer, but oh my! the last photo of soldiers standing in that ice cold water, I don’t like it. Praying for him over the next 5 days that he doesn’t catch a cold. Stay in good health, JJ.
Secretly hoping the weather won’t be too harsh over the next five days.
178 000 kr won is not much huh.
I wonder how much Yuchun is paid as a public service worker.
A little bit googling shows that there are a number of countries with compulsory military conscription. Duration varies.
Salary or allowance paid differs. I guess its based on the country’s wealth, military budget, military size etc.
The only specific info I got on salary was from the Singapore military wiki page.
Corporal: 630 SGD
Lance corporal : 580 SG dollars. Convert that we get about 492 000 kr won.
That’s like 3X what Jae is getting. Of course conditions differs eg number of leave etc.
For UAE, compulsory conscription was recently introduced. Those working and called for duty will still have their salary paid. Half of salary by employer. The other half by govt. I don’t know how much those fresh out of school get.
I guess since Korean men can enter military in their late twenties when their careers are already established it makes it more difficult to see a monthly paycheck of 178 000krw. So maybe enlisting early in their twenties would be better. But then………they have to serve reservist duty for a much longer time till their late 30’s.
Hmm…..Why am I talking about the military here? Sorry didnt intend to give military lesson here.
The things I googled bcos of JYJ………..
I think military for singaporean differs..i think they get to go home saturday and sunday if im not mistaken
Serviceman in Singapore generally get weekends off unless of Duty or Exercises. For first two weeks of enlistment recruits will be “confined” to get them used to army life. You can be assinged to either 1 of the 3 uniformed branches (“Army,Air Force,Navy”), Police, or Civil Defence. Generally speaking SG NSFs (National Service Fulltime) gets way better welfare compared to Koreas NSFs. Partly it could be due to the fact that Korea is actually still at war so there is a patrotism factor why in SG it is mostly regarded as a burden and can be actually detrimental to ones lives (politics issues at play).
Duration wise it is standard 2 years for any branch. Major difference is I noticed Korea has 5 weeks boot camp followed by base posting while in SG the boot camp is dependant of ones medical status akin to Korea Level 1-5 status. Reservist wise in SG we have longer obligations that goes on average at least once a year up till age 40 (for enlsited) and 50 (for officers). There a lot of naunces between the countries which will be too detailed and my knowledge is mostly limited to SG system as I have went through it before.
God bless Lance Corporal Kim Jaejoong, come back safely.
The more hardships you meet and overcome, the more they will make you a better man, Fighting
