The Gaon Album Chart is a korean national chart that ranks the best-selling albums, including mini-albums and singles released in South Korea, provided by the Korea Music Content Industry Association. The charts are made up of charts tracking domestic album sales, international album sales and a combined overall album sales in weekly, monthly and year-end format.
Kim Jaejoong’s NO.X Album was released in February 12th, 2016.
Despite Kim Jaejoong is being banned to promote his music for almost 7 years, he can’t perform on music shows, he can’t appear on variety programs and radios, etc. without promo at all, and while he is currently serving in the army, which means no fansign events, Kim Jaejoong’s NO.X Album ranked in the top 10 of Gaon Album Chart (2016 1st Half ) with 85,499 copies sold.
- Note 1: Although Gaon Chart is suppose to take the sales of Hanteo + Oricon Charts, this time seems like there is a discordance,
Just by your information, the cumulative sales of NO.X Album till February 29th was:
Hanteo Monthly Chart: 73,160
Oricon Monthly Chart: 19,930
Cumulative Sales in February: 93,090 copies soldSince Jaejoong’s NO.X Album is released with limited copies, we are not sure how much he sold, but certainly we don’t know why Gaon Chart didn’t count Hanteo + Oricon like they do with other idols in the ranking. Either way, we are still proud that Kim Jaejoong ranked in the top 10 of Gaon Chart despite everything ^^
- Note 2: This list will change by the end of the year.
It is true, as it is not consistent with the corresponding calculation of what was sold in February (cumulative sales), I hope that there is nothing behind this, but above all very proud that oppa is in 10th place and without any promotion, KIM power JAEJOONG shown!
I am so proud of the Jaejoong of JYJ! Against all odds he shines!
I love seeing more positive news about the boys!
Thank you JYJ3 for sharing this great news with us!
Hanteo is a real-time chart. They obtain information from a selected number of Hanteo-certified stores that report their sales for each artist every day. These are not total sales. Hanteo only counts the sales from their stores list, but it gives a decent idea of how an album is doing.

Jaejoong – “No. X” – 75,976 (160212) update Apr 30
Gaon does not keep track of sales. Their numbers are the amount of albums shipped by a company as reported by the company itself to Gaon. The logic behind this is that if the album is in high demand the company will ship more and more. If the album isn’t, less albums will be shipped or some will be returned (in which case the Gaon number has been known to be adjusted down).
So it’s 75.976/85,499 (Hanteo/Gaon) , I read somewhere that Hanteo figure comprises more or less 85% of the total physical album sales, so it’s safe for NO.X Gaon sales for the year_end adjustment, there must be zero return of album.
So PROUD of Cpl. Kim Jaejoong, NOX is still at the top 10 of the Hanteo 2016 Ist half, the album achieves so much with all the odds and the least support and zero opportunity to promote the album. 👍👍👍💚💚💚
Thanks kris,..this makes it clearer for me..for all the tough times he had..JJ stil manage to do this,..so proud of him 😉
Yes @Karenina, we have all the reason to be proud. Usually at an early stage of album promotion, agencies/companies use media play to brag about their artist sale like “slays all charts” and use Gaon figure but if you check the Hanteo sale, it doesn’t even reach 50% of what they shipped as reflected in Gaon. But for NOX and for other JJ’s album, it’s not only media play but it’s real.

I tried to collect the data, it may not be the exact figure as of the moment since the latest update is the date on the parenthesis.
With only 1 mini album and 2 full-length albums, JJ sold more 300k units. 👍✌💚
edit: JJ sold more than 300k units. 👍✌💚
Yeesss..kris,.. our Jaejoong is awesome 🙂
Urgh..i thought he reached 100k on gaon already tbh..not sure what happened..anyway im proud of JJ because no.x is awesome
I’m proud to our Kim Jaejoong. He hard work be answered. No.X really awesome.
It’s a great album that will continue to find an audience well into the future. I’m not sure Jaejoong should even be in these “idol rankings” anymore. They are all corrupt, suspiciously formulated and easily bought by the big entertainment companies like SM. Jaejoong is an artist and has shown himself to be a formidable one. As long as we keep supporting him and allowing him the freedom to grow as an artist, all will be well with him.
I see that his Oricon sales are still not added
+20k sales are no joke to be forgotten
These charts for the idol groups are all rigged – bought and paid for by the big entertainment companies. Honestly, I’m surprised he made it into the top ten. The fact that he did means they just couldn’t figure out any halfway plausible way to keep him out of it. I think as fans begin to grasp what amounts to the powerful undertow within SK still actively working against JYJ they will forego taking much stock in the idol charts and rankings which we’ve long known are in the pockets of companies like SM.
So proud of you..may you continue more blessing and fruitful years to come as a fans i am truly proud and happy about all your achievements…good luck always beautiful and gorgeous idol……..NO.X for KIM JJ.
