This young man has created and brought to life *quite* the body of work over the last few years. It is truly awe-inspiring to see what a free and creatively self-directed can and will accomplish. Oh, and another thing: I want that poster!! 🙂
I know what you mean. I love seeing everything Jaejoong, Chunnie & Junsu do, seeing who they are as individuals shine through in their work, both solo & as JYJ, & not the 1 dimensional facade sm imposed on them. I know it’s been years since they left sm, but I still feel so much happiness in their freedom.
Junsu’s progression in the musical world is rather impressive! He can only get better with time 🙂 Ditto on the poster!! 😀
I wonder what musical or character will Junsu choose to perform after he returns from enlistment?
I am really excited to see his next venture in the musical world.
This is a very imaginative teaser for the 2016 XIA Ballad&Musical Concert with Orchestra vol.5. I loved it.
But as the teaser came to the end and the window with suggestions for other videos to view came up, on the left hand side the image of a crying little African American boy caught my eye as it looked totally out of place so I watched it … and it broke my heart.
Junsu is our century’s musical phenomenon!
I am constantly amazed by all the different colors and tones he has in his voice and the artistic sensitivity that brings to each vocal performance he does. He has an array of different vocal qualities that he can call upon, just depending on where the melody is going and what lyric he is delivering. It’s really masterful.
Junsu is amazing! He did more than 100 concerts/musicals both local and overseas this year till today, and he is still performing until the last day he reports to the police force. He has promised to keep the name of JYJ there when the other two members are in MS and he is able to do that. Being super active in the past two years, I will miss him while he is away in the next two years. However we will be prepared to welcome JJ 🙂
I so agree with you, Yvonne – he has done an incredible job for the last solid 2 years especially, not only expressing himself musically and creatively but keeping the name of JYJ fresh in so many fans’ minds, both old and new. Soon, I fully expect that Jaejoong will pick up the torch and do likewise for the whole time both Chunnie and Junsu are away serving their country. I’m not sure whether it’s been reported on JYJ3 or not, but Yuchun has now been completely exonerated of all allegations relating to his sexual assault fiasco, so he too will be active and pursuing his own creative projects upon his release from the military.
And another piece of good news: Yesterday the court reversed a previous ruling and judged that the contractor had falsely accused Junsu and with malicious intention to destroy Junsu’s character and integrity. The contractor was fined 10,000,000 won.
Our JYJ have gone through so much hate and malice and have suffered like saints without lashing back, coming out of their battles as clean as angels.
That is GREAT news. Where did you hear? I’d like to post a link on ‘Stand Up 4 JYJ Facebook’ page.
Sorry, I didn’t respond to this as I forgot the source. I think big brother watches over my interests and recently I have started getting news headlines on my tablet that are about JYJ. But I have noted that today this info has been posted on this blog so it was genuine.
I also read that JJ had a few days off recently and met up with No Min Woo who reports that JJ told him these days if he is not sleeping he is always hungry and eating. So NMW says may be he works a lot coz he has great muscles and probably the reason people always spot him at the PX is that he is always hungry so goes there to get extra food. Hope thuis doesn’t affect his famous jawline 🙂
Oh, dear – poor Jaejoong. Don’t give me ammunition for worrying about him – I’m such a mother hen where he is concerned.
All the photos and mentions we’re gotten lately have all involved him being at the convenience store buying things, too… I wonder why he’s not sleeping? Too much caffeine, maybe? It starts to get to you in your 30s and interrupt your sleep patterns if you drink it too late in the day. Oh, dear. See, now I’m worrying about him. Come on, December 30!!
Lilibaiyu, lilibaiyu….read that post again….NMW says Jae is either sleeping or eating. Sounds like Jae is fine! Not to worry….not to worry! I’m for one glad he is eating….I never liked how thin he got around the time of the Triangle drama. That was worrisome. I do remember he said he wouldn’t get fat while in MS! You know muscle requires protein sooooo. But I’m sure he doesn’t look like Dewayne Johnson😝😝😝
LOL He better not look like Dwayne Johnson!! 😀
I feel that right now all of us here at JYJ3 are feeling a great deal of respect and love for our Junsu! When I look back to posts from several years back I can see that everyone’s loyalty to these these three talents has remained steady and true until today. I think my first post came in late 2014 and since then I know my admiration has only grown for these three men who collectively call themselves JYJ. Junsu has held the banner high for his members and now Jae Joong will pick that banner up while Junsu begins his service to his country and in August ’17 Yuchun will also appear from Gangham District office holding his head high.
Yuchun will testify next week and I know all of us are praying for a good outcome to his horror. How good to know this contractor that brought charges against Junsu has been held accountable for what he has done. Now that justice has been served for Junsu …. we will expect the same for Yuchun. JYJ….HWAITING ❗️
Really? Late 2014….Georgia P. I think you are wrong about that date….maybe late 2012 or early ’13 is a better guess! Goodness, how time can get by 🕛🕒🕧🕘🕛
Hi girlfriends – Hey, how do you find out when your first post was? I of course have NO idea when mine was – the closest I can come is “a long time ago.” lol I’d love to check my first post out and see what I was on about…
Lilibaiyu, I’m just really guesstimating here. My first KDrama was Moon Embracing the Sun in early 2012. Watched Dr. Jin later that year. Maybe in the summer? FELL IN LOVE with Jae Joong and started investigating who this person was. And, of course, from there I discovered JYJ and then JYJ3.net. It didn’t take me long to form a friendship with Anna Liza….who told me all things Kim Jae Joong! Then Kris too! WorldPress tells me I’ve made some 596 posts. That doesn’t take long since I’m on here day after day! I’ve seen your name on post in 2011. What is it the Korean soldier says when he salutes? Loyality!
Yes, I think it was probably 2011 for me… whenever JYJFiles went inactive, that’s when I switched over. My friend butterfliesarefree told me about JYJ3 so I came and checked it out. After all the reading and posting we’d done on JYJFiles, I just couldn’t imagine not having somewhere to meet up with other JYJ people and of course keep up the fight. Those were dark days, JYJ was in limbo, no one knew when the trial to gain their freedom would ever end.
@Georgia Peach and @lilibaiyu
Hey ladies, I don’t know how to find when we first started but relying on my memory of all those who still post on this blog I think @Kris and @ Sapphire were the first. I remember because her post was that she had bought tickets for the whole family to go to JYJ’s concert in Singapore but their concerts to SG and Indonesia were cancelled so she had to pay plane ticket cancellation fines. This was in March 2011. I remember coz, first I felt bad for her but even more, I wondered how she could buy plane tickets before she got concert tickets. Which was harder to get? I believe it was the very same Kris who is still the most faithful contributor to JJ’s page.
The other person who was writing at around the same time (March 2011) was @Sapphire.
@ Lilibaiyu, you started writing at around June 2011.
@jjeyelash and @shayra joined around the beginning of 2012 as well as @koreamom and @xiahsperal
As you see, I was an excellent lurker at that time and was keenly following all write ups but never showed myself up probably because i had never been brave enough to write on social media and also was rather shy to swoon in awe of some singers thousands of miles away. I started writing occasionally from early 2013 and more regularly from mid-2013 and my first contributions were rather stiff and studious, no jokes about so-and-so’s pink nips.
So @Georgia Peach, you see your first guess about late 2014 is the correct one. Definitely 2012 or 2013 was not yet your time. I remember you asking something about blond JJ. BTW, @Caylen started writing before you. I remember she was all fired up and read all posts since Day 1 which I didn’t think was possible.
Regrettably, so many of those who were the first regulars have dropped out or have assumed an occasional lurking position
Cheers to those of us who stayed and may we meet at a JYJ concert in the not too distant future.
.
And Anna Liza I’m SOOO glad you finally took the plunge and started posting – your posts are some of the high points on the list, always. I remember the trepidation I felt upon taking my first bash at posting about a pop group on the other side of the world. I had only been such a serious partisan of an artist one other time before and it had been years since then. But it was right at the time when the guys had just left SM and I was infuriated by the revelations of their time there and the smear campaign that had started up against them. I just couldn’t help myself – I had to post. 🙂
Oh…my special Anna Liza! You were the first one to respond to my posts. I do remember very blonde Jae! That was white blonde Jae …. a very young Jae too! Stop my heart Jae! Wish I could find those first post. On a day I have nothing more to do….maybe I can somehow find them. I was so anxious to know all about Jae Joong because I just could not seem to get enough of him…seems not much has changed.😉😉😉. But I also remember Caylen posting that she had read from the beginning all the post about Jae, soooo…..she had to have started after me, but not by too awful much. I also remember her asking Kris her age! Kris declined and Caylen decided to call her unnie anyway since she knew so much about Jae Joong! It has been such a great treat for me to get to know all of you girls through these talented men from Korea.
P.S. Did you see where Dewayne Johnson was named the Sexiest Man? How can we get Jae Joong’s picture to People Magazine?
Dwayne is what westerners think is sexy. Jaejoong is what Asians and those who love them think is sexy. I don’t think Jaejoong would make much of a dent in western perceptions. I could be wrong, but he’s too beautiful and not overwhelmingly masculine enough. The reason I like Jaejoong is that he clearly has fully integrated his masculine and feminine sides, which we all have, just to varying degrees of awareness. The integrated Yin-Yang is a sign of a psychologically evolved human. Dwayne Johnson is ALL masculine, NO feminine. This is not the sign of an evolved man –way too much Yang, which in society, leads to all sorts of problems, violence and aggressiveness.
Yes, you are right about the beautiful Jae Joong. I have shown pictures of Jae, Junsu, Park Boo Gum, Song Jun Ki, Lee Jun Ki, even Jo In Sung to friends and they all say they look like girls. And they aren’t the most feminine of them… well maybe LJK is pretty feminine looking. I have looked at beautiful Asian men for so long now….western men look very unattractive to me now. DJ is over pumped muscle wise and has no sex appeal at all. Know we have made comments along these lines before and still we come to the conclusion we think Kim Jae Joon is the sexiest man alive. If Peple Magazine elitors could see him perform just once I think they would be beating down his door to declare him hands down the SMA! Especially if,they could see him in,his polka dot underwear! LOL 😀😉😍
lol I’m with you on that, GP. Same for me – western men now hold Zero appeal for me as well. And I’ve also had those “looks like a girl” comments from people, the men especially are very turned off and threatened by how beautiful Asian men can be. (OMG! Have you seen the trailer for Gong Yoo’s new series, “Demon?” Major Swoon material there…) My theory is that older generation western men have totally suppressed their feminine sides and until less than 100 years ago, women had completely submerged their masculine sides. (I think it was a mass response to the witch burnings of the middle ages – any powerful, intelligent woman could be accused by anyone and burned at the stake.) Early male doctors felt threatened and envious of the wise women healers and midwives, accused them of being witches and they too were wiped out during the burning times. Women spent many centuries afterwards being meek, submissive, helpless, forced to follow all sorts of restrictions and I really think it was a deeply ingrained primal fear for their very survival. Younger generation men are much more accepting of women with their own minds and power, although we’ve just gotten a big dose of what the suppression of women is going to look like in this country with the last election.
@ lilibaiyu and @ Georgia Peach
Hasn’t it been great that we have been able to learn so much from
JYJ who are my inspiration and role models. When I was in Europe last September/October teenagers were all agog that Justin Bieber was going to perform in London. And I felt so sorry for them – what inspiration and what example is he? Throughout his concerts he mimed, he even dropped his mike and wasn’t the least bit embarrassed that his voice continued, at times he even forgot to put up the mike nearer his mouth. Yet they had all those excuses for him, that you know, he has all those concerts so his voice must be tired. Blimey, he dropped the mike on the first evening and his face was so expressionless.
But coming back to us. I think we have also learnt a lot from each other. Lilibaiyu you wrote: “The reason I like Jaejoong is that he clearly has fully integrated his masculine and feminine sides, which we all have, just to varying degrees of awareness. The integrated Yin-Yang is a sign of a psychologically evolved human.” Thank you for this. I have finally understood why i am so stuck on JJ. He represents this harmony and balance of Yin-Yang, body and soul, action and word and this harmony and balance he expresses in his songs through the melody, the lyrics, modulation of the voice and expression of the eyes. Thank you also for explaining why women became so meek in the Dark Ages. I have always thought that men have been socialized to be emotionally crippled. But our JJ isn’t afraid to show his emotions even though he once said his father had told him men should only cry three times in their life. I have questioned why humans expect beautiful women but only strength/muscle fro men while in nature t is in almost all cases that the make is both strong (to protect the female and the offspring) and more beautiful (so as to attract females to propagate his genes and also attract attention away from the female and the offspring when danger approaches).
There is a poll currently going on for the most beautiful men in the world and Jaejoong is in it. We managed to bring him from position 43 to 18. You can only vote ponce in 24 hrs but if you go incognito, you can vote as many time as you have the time and patience to do so.

Hi Anna Liza_
Here is a link to an excellent 3 part documentary on “The Burning Times.” If you watch it, you’ll be angry and outraged by the end of it. I was. It’s been years since I’ve seen it so I’m going to watch it again. I recommend it to all women, everywhere.
Oops, sorry, it’s not 3 parts it’s 6 parts. 🙂
I feel like such a newbie here! Could I ask for some help from the resident geniuses? I am compiling a list of “I wannas” and my music knowledge is still very limited (hides red face) of jyj.I’ve collected these already
Just us, flower, yuchun private making of missing you, jyj concert tokyo xome 2013, xia 2nd asia tour in japan, jyj2014 asia tour, return of the king, in heaven and jaejoong mini album
But I have the chance to get a few more goodies and as you can see, I am lacking a lot in both Junsu and Jaejoong albums. I would greatly appreciate it if you could make a few suggestions about what I should get next -Xignature. Incredible? Early jaejoong songs? Aĺl about you Park Yuchun fan meeting 2015? Where would I even find this one? I know everyone has their favorite songs but I’d like to get a better range of selections of their music. I figured if anyone would know the best ones to get on a -sigh- limited budget, you guys would. Thanks!
Hi Australias,
I’m not sure what albums these were on but I don’t think you can possibly miss these two songs: “Shelter” and “Waiting For So Long”, both songs performed by Jae and Yuchun. I think they may be on iTunes. You can preview them on Youtube. 🙂
Australias, I have gone to iTunes and it looks like they have released some more albums by the five….TVXQ. I found It’s My World and Forgotten Season by Jae! These are powerful songs. It’s My World is a song Jae has sung at MS performances and it is a magnificent song because he sings it with such force and conviction. Look for these on albums: Merotic The 3rd Asia Tour Live and Merotic The 4th Album Special Edition. You do know Jae Joong was known as Hero and Its My World is under that name. The songs name is in Hangul..I think it’s number 13 on the list. WOW what a find❗️
It does sound you have quite a collection going…..you go girl!
I’m going to check those out too GP. Thanks for the heads up.
BTW…..Shelter can be found on Jae and Yuchun’s album Colors Melody and Harmony/Shelter. Lilibaiyu, I’ll have to discover Waiting For You…..off I go!
If you can’t find it, I’ll send it to you. I can’t even remember where I got it, it’s been so long ago. It was produced in Japan by the production team M-Flo.
I found something on YouTube with the title Been So Long. I had not heard the song before. Go there and see if that is the song you are talking about. Loved the way they laughed at the end. Jae with that classic laugh of his was unmistakable! And Chunnie rap!
Yes, that’s it.
Don’t ask if you don’t want to receive….especially when it comes to KJJ! You probably have found this on YouTube…but just in case you haven’t …know you can’t keep it in anything other than a playlist, but this performance is THE PURE KJJ❗️ Can you tell it is my favorite? Go to YouTube….Kim Jae Joong For You. And enjoy from there . This is a series of songs from Jae’s Your, My, Mine Mini Concert in 2013. He does several ballad covers and a rock version of I Will Always Miss You that will blow your socks off…girl, I am tellin’ you! That bluzie song is like from where I’M FROM❗️❤️❗️
I would post them, but s3adolphin has asked that it not be reuploaded.
You do not say if you are interested in digital or physical cd/mv/dvd
Since you mention your interest in OSTs, we start with JJ’s OSTs
1. 인사 Insa (Greetings) A Millionaire’s First Love
2. 사랑아(Love) Heaven’s Postman
3. To You It’s Goodbye, To Me It’s Waiting Sungkyunkwan Scandal
4. “지켜줄게” (I’ll Protect You) Protect the Boss
5. Seoshi Protect the Boss
6. 살아도 꿈인 것처럼” (Living Like A Dream), Dr. Jin
7. Stay Jackal is Coming
8. 싫어도 (But I) Triangle
9. Coincidence Triangle
Music Videos (One from each of his three studio albums)
1. Mine (1st Mini album I; re-packaged title Y) 1 CD + photobook
2. Just Another Girl (1st album WWW Who Whwn Why 1cd + album)
3. Love You More ( NO.X) (this is his second and last album released while serving MS.
We all love JYJ’s live performances even more than their studio albums. I normally buy the physical copy. Frankly, I don’t buy from I tunes, so don’t know if and how they are sold there but you can check them out and see which one of the songs you like best. The two live concerts of JJ I like best are:
1. 2013 Kim Jaejoong Grand Finale live concert and fan meeting in Japan – 3 discs + a huge photo album + 2 posters red-hair JJ promoting his mini album I plus a number of Japanese songs.
2. 2013 Asia Tour Concert in Japan 3 discs + Photo album and posters promoting WWW album and alsio some Japanese songs.
JJ’s drama Triangle is also a must see. 4discs + album + posters (and of course the 2 OSTs)
You mention you want to start with the earlier songs. So here are the earliest albums of JYJ
1. Jumsu Jejung Yuchun: The … CD (contains an Intro, Get Ready, Long Way, W) and a DVD which has the Thanksgiving Live in Dome – Rehearsal movie)
2. Jejung and Yuchun 1CD +1 DVD: Colours: Melody and Harmony and Shelter
3. Junsu, Jejung, Yuchun: Thanksgiving Live Dome 13.6.2010 4 discs which contain solo Maze (JJ); Intoxication, Xiahtic (JS) My Girlfriend (YC) duo JJ/YC Colors and Shelter , Been so Long etc.
4. JYJ The Beginning (the first JYJ studio album 2CD 1 DVD + photo album
5. JYJ Just Us JYJ 2nd studio album 1cd + album
6. Junsu Jejun Yuchun: 3hree Voices 4discs DVD
7. JYJ Concert in Tokyo Dome 2013 The return of the JYJ 4DVDS + phpoto album + signed posters.
Well, this should be more than enough to get you started. I think you should also listen to some of the songs they composed and sang while still in DBSK (5) Also known as TVXQ ang Tohoshinki in Japan as well as their solo songs of that time. They are really beautiful. I could give you a list of a few of those if you are interested. I would suggest that you also go to YT and after you type in the title you want, add Engl subs to better understand as their lyrics are always so beautiful.
Here is one example: Waserunaide composed by Jaejoong who also wrote the lyrics in Japanese
Thanks for all the info! I managed to find both the songs (loved them!) and the cd for sale so I may get that or the thanksgiving collection. Looks like I should be digging into more of their earlier songs, too and I think I want to add a bunch of osts if I can as so many are favorites of mine. Jaejoong’s and Junsu’s ballads are simply beautiful.
Girl, let’s talk! Osts of Jae and Junsu are wonderful❗️ I did a search on Wiki and then found them on YouTube … then went to iTunes. I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss any. If I had not watched the drama I did so. Loved all the dramas, of course, and to have Jae or Junsu sing the OST was a second dish of chocolate ice cream. Did not know who Junsu was when I watched Scent of a Woman….imagine how delighted I was to find out! Recognized Junsu immediately singing Love Is Like A Snowflake in the drama An Innocent Man….one of my top five out of some 70+ dramas. Song Joong Ki sang the song Really (Chungmi) for this drama. Bless him he can’t sing, but Junsu sang it in his Ballad and Musical concert 2013. It is a must watch‼️ ‼️ On YouTube type in: Junsu Really. Be sure to find Foolish Heart from Mandate of Heaven…another wonderful Junsu OST. Watched Protect the Boss just for Jae and the ost. Love Living Like A Dream from Dr. Jin and Though I Hate It from Triangle. In both songs Jae’s voice is like honey poured over blue velvet! Then there is the iconic I’ll Protect You….one of Jae’s theme songs! Let’s cry tears when he sang it before he left for MS😢
Can hardly wait for December 30th❗️Will sorely miss Junsu ❗️
Junsu’s OSTs
Just a reminder of what JYJ were so brave to leave and risk oblivion.
These men, I swear they are the personification of courage.
They had the very materialistic lifestyle that most unaware souls wish to have and they decided to leave it and pursue happiness and purity of heart.
I am sure that a miracle is waiting for them, a miracle to reward the years they have spent like saints suffering, and when that day comes it will be a glorious day.
I stand in agreement with you on that one! This is why we faithfully support them and each other so that we may all enjoy that glorious day (as well as the beauty of this journey). So proud and blessed to be a part of this JYJ Family.
Yes Zamo, they truly were courageous, even though they didn’t know it at that time what their struggle would be like, Junsu said it best on his EBS live broadcast just before he sang “Uphill Road” of how truly grateful he is all the fans that have supported him (and I’m sure he was speaking for his other 2 brothers) for the 6 years after the separation and how he appreciated all the love he received over the years. Because I think he learned the true meaning of appreciation and how he would not have known that had he not left when they did. Through the bad times and then the good times, the fans were there to support him/them every step of the way and they have never failed in showing how much they really appreciate us. JYJ FIGHTING!!!!
These pure-hearted souls deserve our infinite love & support no matter what happens in our lives or in their lives.
And we should also be thanking them, for gracing us with their beautiful voices and undeniable talent whether in music or any other venture they choose to pursue during their lifetime.
I also wonder why are the people that are in their position today and being abused right in front of our eyes, both boys and girls that are suffering from unfair wages, impossible hours, crazy diets and literally being used as objects of cheap entertainment and as cash cows, why are they still living this life? Is it just fear? Or do they believe that this life is normal? Or do they just want the fame & money?
I ask because I see them swept away in this fantasy life of fame(to the point of being worshiped) and money and I ask myself, Do they think that this is real? Do they really believe that the music that they perform(which most of it is based on trends or already popular tunes or sometimes flat out rip-offs like some group copied Madonna’s Bi*$# I’m Madonna) is real music? Do they believe that their work which most of it is nonsense is by any chance good? Or worthy of such hype? Do they believe that their MVs(which all of it is a lie) actually reach millions in a short amount of time? Are they kept in the dark by their agencies so everybody believes the lie? or Do they know and just don’t care? Or do they know that the awards they get are nothing but bought trophies by their agencies to increase the amount of sales and money from advertisements?
I wonder if they ever will be aware or will they follow the usual process of being famous for a few years then falling into obscurity?
I think it’s possible that the three felt that they were living a lie, acting out a complex scenario of youthful exuberance and camaraderie enforced by managers to appear in ways that certainly benefitted the company but left them exhausted and deeply depressed. And of course, virtually broke. They knew they were working as hard as they possibly could, they knew they were hugely successful and that they were making millions for SM – they KNEW this. So if they were still almost broke and unable to have any sort of grievance addressed at that point, they finally had to admit that nothing was going to change in the next 6 or 7 years that they had to go on their contracts, it was never going to get better for them and after trying to re-negotiate several times and being shut down every time and told to “go back to work” they had finally had it. Ironically, after the end of their lawsuit, SM was forced by the courts to give fairer contracts to their artists. I suppose that is what made them angry enough to have instigated the vendetta that seems to be enforced to this day.
@lilibaiyu
I am sure JYJ were aware of this and knew leaving was the only way to happiness but I was wondering about the people that are going through what JYJ went through right now, How do they view their world?
If they are genuinely talented, if they believe in themselves, if they have great courage and passion, and remember JYJ also had each other, a tremendous mutual support system when one would start to become discouraged – if they have all of these things perhaps they too might strike out on their own. I think the other reason SM has been so relentless in their persecution of JYJ is to be an example to their other singers, ala “this is what will happen to you if you try it.” The thing is, each of the members of JYJ have a rare gift – not all idols are really, stand alone, undeniably talented like our guys are. They are fine in a group, they look good, they of course benefit greatly from all the studio enhancement and pitch averaging that goes on behind the scenes and lip-syncing at concerts, but I think this level of idol singer knows deep down that they need every bit of the help and enhancement a big company like SM can provide and I’m sure this is pointed out to them on a regular basis by managers there.
@lilibaiyu
But at a point in time, my lack of courage to leave a miserable situation as an idol/person makes me meaningless. I then become reduced to singing catchy songs that have no substance, dance ridiculous choreography that has no meaning and only designed to rowdy up a certain feeling(e.g. showing your abs as a male & swaying your hips as female). I then become part of the problem, a problem of going through a vicious cycle that has no end and only helping perpetuate this sort of behavior to be inflicted on future generations. And it does not matter if a certain company finally bestows upon me the grace of giving me a solo, it is still tainted with fear and lack of heart and passion even if I wrote it & composed it myself because I have chosen to become a mere shell of myself. I am knowingly selling a vapid product to people and taking their hard-earned money(which I am pretty sure qualifies as dirty-tainted money that some religions actually forbid taking it) to continue the lie that I keep telling myself and wound up believing, that everything is ok and I am helpless and there is nothing I can do about it and that is how the world works. And I’m pretty sure that is what most of them tell themselves to help them sleep at night.
I have to say that I lose respect towards people that don’t follow their hearts and prefer to stay in a situation that has no benefit to anybody with the presence of an option to leave no matter how hard and risky that option is, it is still better than staying.
I just can’t imagine being meaningless and doing nothing for a long time. I mean, how do they live with themselves? A lot of them do it for the fame and money evidenced by their lack of participation in making music and if they did it is hyped to the point of death and is lacking in substance or participating in every single variety show to increase their brand value and if they flop they blame it on the public and say they are not receptive to them which is something I have seen happen lots and lots of times, playing the role of victimhood. They have to realize that working hard for long hours doesn’t equate that what they do is good, Have they ever heard of work smart, not hard? like the rookies, who train for 5-6 years and when they debut they are still mediocre which makes me ask, what have they been doing all these years?
I know I digressed a bit but it was something that I just wanted to point out and it was bothering me and this is the only place I could say it and people will understand what I am saying. 🙂
And what I said in the beginning is not exclusive to the culture of making music in the East but everywhere where abuse happens.
Zamo, you bring up so many good points – several times while reading your post I thought “and THAT’S why JYJ is so powerful and so great!” Because they rejected all of the rationales of the less strong, the less talented and the less intelligent and said, “we don’t know what awaits us, but let’s try this!” Most of the idol singers are very young kids who had a dream. Some are chosen for their looks, so it’s not hard to see why they don’t break away for solo singing careers. Keep in mind too that they are all way over-worked to exhaustion, usually under-fed and run around day and night. It’s hard to think much less plan your future in that state. Recently places like SM have started having their groups be much larger than ever before – so any one idol doesn’t stand out so much when they are in a crowd of others. It’s a technology for creating idols at work – Lee Soo Man said it himself – they are manufactured like cars or phones or washing machines.
Yes, i hold deep respect for JYJ..they made choices that have big uncertainties, knowing they could go down the drain,..courage and support of each other was the only thing they have, breaking away from mediocrity and stood their ground shows how real they are and value their own being..in any group own by a big company the treatment can become abusive, putting an invisible leash on your neck and feed trash in your brain so you don’t have confidence in being yourself and live only of how they want you to be…some are aware of what is happening to them but don’t have enough courage..some have a way of thinking that it is easier to live like that because they come from much worse situation, which means they don’t strive for excellence and hard work and lastly, those who purely think selfishly, think that they work hard to be in that company have set their standard that way and live their life that way whether it has values or not….there are so many in this world like that…so proud of JYJ because they wouldn’t allow themselves to be broken and lose their individuality..they had given us beautiful music.
That’s something that always amazes & baffles me, that so many idols train for so many years & then as Zamo said, they debut & they are still mediocre. Does S Korea Kpop industry, & sm in particular, as you see it so often with their idols, not have qualified vocal trainers tbw? Even some of their “top” idols still have such terrible technique & are damaging their voices if not outright ruining them. We all know Kpop is as much if not more about visuals than it is about vocals, but sadly they seem to have accepted & perfected an industry-wide attitude of mediocre is good enough – as long as it sells….
Hi Sapphie, When you say “train” I think “indoctrinate.” Five or six years of indoctrination on how to never get out of line, never disrespect the company and never never disobey any rule the company dictates is at least as important as the training in singing, dance and “deportment.” And by deportment I mean first how to maximally beautify oneself and then how to entice and lure impressionable young girls (and boys, of course) into “loving” them, which is pervasive in all of K-Pop. From what I can observe, these last two are the main emphasis for idols now – learn group dance and learn how to be attractive and alluring. Scouts look for marginally talented singers who can sing on pitch and then just teach them a few vocal tricks to be able to sound impassioned. The ProTools gear which can manipulate any number of vocal qualities and pitch in the studio take care of the recordings and lip-syncing is used for performances. I don’t hear great singers among the young male idols anymore. Possibly the trend is away from them now because they can be so much trouble once they are stars. I think the women are far better than the men but possibly they are far easier to control and let’s face it – K-Pop is all about control from start to finish from behind the scenes. That’s why JYJ is such a threat to the industry. They have proved that all the ironclad rules of K-Pop are WRONG and serve only the company.
@Sapphire
And that attitude is strongly evidenced by the rookies this year from the 3 big companies alone, and not mentioning the other smaller companies who pay “news” organizations/magazines money to talk about how their rookies are the best and have the best debut in the world to obscure the fact that they are mediocre after years and years spent in training. And when that dies down and other groups come up and debut, they now move to phase 2: show us your “talents” to obscure further the fact that you don’t sing or dance, do you speak some phrases of another language, then we will market you as fluent in it, do you run? then we will market you as an athlete even if you can’t run properly in the Idol Championships, did you not have plastic surgery and you match our illogical beauty standards that only one shape is beautiful? Then we will take X-rays of you to show how naturally beautiful you are, did you score high on a test(and this is the most widely used)? Then we will make that known to the public and market you as genius, with high IQ, even though IQ tests have been debunked and the lack of great music coming from that person kind of shows that they are not intelligent. Literally, anything to hide the fact that they cannot sing or make music and are just doing it for the money.
I used to say those idols were forced but now, no. You as a person have a duty towards yourself not be used and you should protect yourself from the ridiculousness in that world or any other world, to be honest. How many lines will have to be crossed before the idol/person realizes that they cannot blame their agency anymore for meaningless events that they partake in or the idiotic things they sing/say? Do they have to reach the point of being ordered to slap a baby to say “ohh, I can’t do this, that is immoral”?. All of them can think and all of them should. especially after what happened with JYJ. All the information is out there to make an informed decision about this empty lifestyle and if you don’t then you are an idiot no matter how much you market yourself as a genius with high IQ.
lol Zamo – your comment about the test taking morphing into being a genius reminded me of what they used to say about Yunho. I don’t know how many times I read how genius intelligent he was. hahahaha It just wasn’t evident in anything he ever did, was all… 😀
@lilibaiyu
I swear they throw the word genius around so much that it is starting to lose meaning. Every time a person says it I roll my eyes and sigh. Just where exactly is the genius? The music is bad, the dancing is subpar, their behavior and words do not scream intellect, so where is it exactly?
This continues to be THE best place to lurk. You ladies are as wonderful and beautiful as the men we support.💜
Don’t just be a lurker…..you can jump right in anytime and be a part of this mutual admiration society for these spectacular guys😍😍😍❗️
I’m not new…I know better than to push your buttons, lady‼️ I love you 😘
I’m trying to make my way back. You kicked me out into the real world, for WatchforYoochun, and I was soooo not prepared for the things I’d encounter. 😰
I anticipate a full recovery (and I’ve met some beautiful people as well) so just a little patience (I’ll never discourage a prayer) and I’m sure this place will feel like home again in no time. 💜
More importantly, I hope that you are not too close to all those fires I’ve been hearing about. Stay safe. 🙏🏼🤗
That’s so right….I remembered you were not new! You just need to get back in this with us again. The only buttons you could push would be my happy buttons when you say good things about JYJ! That WatchforYuchun was something else….the unimaginable hate that Yuchun got was very hard for rational people to comprehend. We can only pray it will be over soon. I trust the judge will find these people as guilty as all of us believe they are. And Yuchun will have the career he deserves as a talented actor and performer.
Am I close to the fires? Yes. The largest are only hour and a half northeast of me and there are several smaller fires only some 45 minutes to the northwest of me. The smoke has been terrible when the wind is out of the north. I think they are somewhat contained right now. 🙏🏻
Mazelight….ask seryn for my email address…..
I’m sorry to hear that you’re so close, but relieved that the situation is improving.
Actually, the love and support for Yoochun, on Twitter, is quite strong and really beautiful to be a part of.
The difficulty has been hearing anti-JYJ sentiments from people I thought I knew. However, once @lilibaiyu plainly stated the fact that antis exist here my mind was surprisingly eased. The comment section of that post is such a great source of strength, inspiration and joy! How could I stay away?
I’ll ask Seryn…💜
Sorry to be so long…looking forward to hearing from you VI’s email.😀😀😀
Stay safe Georgia Peach. I live in a bush fire area too & we’re just going into summer so fingers crossed for everyone that we all stay safe.
Stay safe everyone and God bless you!
Thank you, Zamo. I appreciate your opinions. I think they are very correct!
Thank you, Georgia Peach!
Happy to spread the love of JYJ!
🙂 ❤
So glad you’re back again Mazelight. Welcome, welcome! 🙂
I’m happy to hear you say that because in future I will be coming to you for guidance. To think I could have been spared weeks of mental anguish…live and learn.
I love connecting with our JYJ Family via Twitter, but…there’s no place like home…it’s good to be back.😊
Having read all your comments here is heartwarming..knowing how you all got started here and kinda’ envy those who have been with JYJ from the start..your life is colorful, drawing strength and inspiration with each other, i’ve enjoyed all the stories and comments. I’m keeping my heart always for JYJ.
Karenina Anna….I ditto your remarks about these comments. Bravo to each of you JYJsisters!
Alas. We live in a world which for the most part is very accepting of the mediocre…aka Justin Bieber. How much longer can he WOW the teenage girl?
I think Jae Joong, Junsu and Yuchun realized they would only survive as entertainers if they were out from under the control of SM. Each had a passion and vision for their talents that SM did not share. Believing in their passion and vision, they were willing to put their talent before all of Asia and ask them to judge their talents merit. To say nothing of traveling to America and making an English speaking album! ……I would love to know how that came about……They succeeded because of this courage and wealth of talent.
I have a college freshman girl as a sweet friend. We share a love for KDramas/movies. She is a huge, huge BTS fan. She and girlfriends went to their concert last year in Atlanta. She admits herself that they can’t sing….dance and look terribly cute yes….but she says none were chosen for idoldom because of their talents in singing. I just see them as the flavor of the month and will be soon replaced by yet another group…younger and cuter.
Oh btw, I have a new friend who is very talented musically… she sings with a beautiful soprano voice and plays piano with much skill. She had never heard a Korean singer before. I played Junsu’s ost from Mandate of Heaven….her first comment was….”he sings with a great deal of feeling. He’s certainly has IT.” I told her she was spot on….this was what Junsu was famous for. Just wait till I let her hear Jae’s All Alone!
I think the deal with Justin Beiber and knowing why he is the way he is like this right now can be understood by seeing how he got started. He started through Youtube doing covers for songs, then he was discovered/managed by Scooter Brown(the same guy managing CL’s Us debut) he was pushed like in the East to do songs to attract a certain type of crowd, and since he doesn’t fulfill the criteria for how should a boy look or sound(whatever that means for the simple-minded who believe these things) he attracted so much love and so much hate(telling him to die and publicly bashing him as a young boy on television) at the same time, and since he lacked a support system(his family situation is not the best) he started to derail from the right path and that is what we are seeing today. I believe he is starting to be aware of the life he is living by eliminating meet and greet in his concerts(he felt he was just an object to be used because of those pay me for a hug events) and telling his fans you don’t need to shout while I am next to you. Also, he receives to this day so much hate from the public like signing a petition with 100 thousand signatures and sending it to the white house to send him back to Canda, and taking photos of him while he is enjoying the privacy of his own home and publishing them online with no respect to his privacy or dignity, and interfering with his personal relationships that must be very hard to deal with. I will not be surprised if he decides to take a hiatus from the music industry in the near future because we are seeing a person who was not given the comfort to grow peacefully and the signs for that are very evident in his life and in his performance.
As for JYJ with the English album, I was surprised as well with how wonderful that album sounded and especially how it was done during that difficult time they were going through. I applaud them for that and I wonder if they will do that again in the future if they had a chance since everybody and their momma(XD I just love to use that phrase) are trying or preparing for a US debut like CL or the little signs and articles that pop-up everyday about Bigbang or GD in western publications which I’m pretty sure it is preparing them for a US debut after they finish their military service, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with JYJ.
Yeah, I feel the same about BTS and pretty much about every other group that is known right now with the exception of Mamamoo(if you don’t know them I implore you to listen to them because they don’t lipsync and they have a powerful stage presence and they help write and compose all of their albums).
GP,..JYJ shows us to be a bit more edgy in life..how their passion and vision is 🙂 with these..drawing people from both sides.. those that appreciate mainstream and those that would go for underground, underrated music.
I can understand what your friend says..when i got news good review from young kpop idols today, i randomly choose any of them to to check it out..seeing of who would be the next that would be great just like JYJ..(with my impish smile) no one yet.
Yes, our JYJ are exceptional men. Now that it’s only a little over a month before Jaejoong is discharged I thought back to the days before his enlistment and how distraught I was that he was going to waste two years of his life. I was thinking of how \JYJ started from scratch and reached the peak of the mountain, they swept all prizes, they were driven in limousines worthy of driving presidents, they had thousands of girls worshipping them and then suddenly – they hit the rock bottom of a dark abyss. They climbed out of there with great patience and hard work and the love of their fans and again reached the top. But their path had to be cut short again, just when they were at their creative peak. And now they have to climb the mountain a third time.
JYJ had said on many occasions “music is my life and without music, there is no life for me”. So for men to whom music is their life it must have taken great courage but also strong belief in themselves and in the love of their fans to walk away.
Some have questioned whether JYJ knew what opposition they would encounter, if they knew what they were getting themselves into. YES, they knew and they still did it. Yoo Chun said in an interview “better to become farmers than lead the life they did in the company”. The whole of their music essay album (Their Rooms our story) is about that. For those who have joined our club more recently, listen to that album. You can get all the songs on YT with Engl subs. (Mission, Pierrot, Nine, Fallen leaves, Nameless song Part1) Here are a few lines from the Nameless song:
“He said the family which we talked about in the company would make things difficult for us if we were to leave the company.
Those words by that senior could not leave my head.
Though there is more that I want to say, when this song gets out,
There would be someone who would torment us. Thinking of this makes me frustrated and I don’t think I can continue.
In any case, though it is tough, we are working hard to live well.
Despite someone tormenting us, we are working hard to really smile.
This is definitely not an effort which we made just for a product.
This is an effort made because as a human, on the day that I die, I do not want to have any regrets.
Yes, in the end it is JYJ.”
These individuals are exceptional and should be supported and allowed to be free so they can be a beacon of light till eternity.
And we love them for their voice, their talent, purity of heart and strength of character. That’s why I have remained steadfast supporter and will never believe any lie against anyone of them. .
💪❤😊
Stunning words with such naked emotion contained within them. Thanks, Anna Liza for posting that bit of “Song With No Name.” It hurts my heart to think of what they were going through for Yuchun to write that.
I remember the first time I read the words to Song With No Name I was struck by how Yuchun expressed the disappointment they felt in LSM and the cold way he treated them when they tried to express their feelings to him. It seems he had always talked like a father or a favorite uncle to them….like he cared for them as he would care for his own children, but he turned on them like a lion. They were so young and so trusting of their elder. And for LSM to turn on them like that…..how deeply it must have cut.
Thanks Anna liza…the music essay album was memorable to me coz it is the one that leads me to go deep into their story.. finding jyj3 and stand up for jyj..since then,..i believe and support them.
